Laabs Appliance Parts & Service Reviews (2)

Review: On August 21st I called Laabs shop to check if they had a replacement part for my oven. When they said they did, I asked if they had a spec sheet that listed the ohm range for the part I was interested in. The associate told me a range that was far away from the range I had measured on the part in my oven leading me to believe it was a faulty part. I then went to Laabs and purchased a replacement. When I returned home I checked the new parts ohm reading. I did not have to remove the part from the box of open any packaging to do so. The ohm reading for the replacement part was the same as the original one. I then took my original part placed it back in my oven and continued to troubleshoot until I found the real problem (which had nothing to do with the part in question). I then called back to Laabs to explain that I had only purchased this part because the store had misrepresented the electrical characteristics of the part in order to to get me to purchase it and I would like a refund. Laabs told me they do not do refunds. I would not have purchased this product if they had not mislead me over the phone to make me think that I needed this replacement part.Desired Settlement: I would like Laabs to take back the part they sold to me by giving me false information and refund to my credit card the price of the purchase.

Dear Sir,

Beware charges when dealing with this service. I was told there would be a $49,99 charge for a tech to come out and look at my 6-year-old gas dryer that was not turning on. I told the owner this was a "second opinion" because a previous repairperson -- a retired part-time service guy -- said there was nothing he could do . He did not charge me. When I told the owner of this business the circumstance, he remarked that the first person apparently did not know what he was doing. His tech comes out and also said there is nothing wrong with the machine with the possibility that it might be a timer switch which probably would not be worth replacing. I was charged $100 because there was a labor cost on top of the service call -- but not mentioned from the beginning. Very bad business practice, especially because I am barely a mile or so from this business, making it a $100 change for a call that last less than an hour. Very bad business practice making this a terrible experience.
