Had Choate's come over in May for the a/c tu"special", as I had a clogged drain line on the unit in the attic taking care of the North side of the houseI expected my cost would be the $per unit "Tune up" charge, plus an amount to blow out the drain lineAlso, there had been less air flow volume recently and I suspected something obstructing the air flow, and authorized an evaporator coil cleaning Well, after about an hour & a half the tech came down from the attic and presented me with a bill for $He charged for: $ Inspection / tuof the units $ lbsof R-Freon @ $/ lb $ Chemical clean evaporator coil $ Clean drain line $ Capacitor for blower motor $ Total As if this wasn't bad enough, he told me there was something wrong with a "board" on the unit and he had to hard wire the blower to the power source and it would be running 24/He sought no approval prior to doing the work he said he did, so as you can imagine I was flabbergasted at the $billgets worse folks I told him the blower was working fine before he touched the system, just not moving enough air because of some obstructive materialHe got very indignant and stormed outWell, as luck would have it, the, drain he cleared for $became clogged again about a week later, causing a lot more water to come pouring into the kitchen from the ceiling., He came back and this time said it was a hole in the drain pan causing the problemIn fact, he said it was holes in drain pans, one that is part of the unit and the supplemental one the unit sits onTold me they couldn't be repaired, or actually that Choate's, as a matter of policy, would not repair them, then tried to sell me a new HVAC unitI told him, at that point we were done talkingHe made some lousy comments and leftI had a A/C man who works for a friend's property management company come by and check things out to see what needed to be done to stop the waterHe said the drain was clogged, took his shop vac up to the unit and cleared itHe also said there are no holes in the pan and whenever I wanted he'd look at the "rigging" the Choate's tech did to hard wire the blowerWell, he came back in May to check the system, and undid what the Choate's tech did to make it run 24/Took him about minutes, he shook his head as he couldn't understand why the Choate's tech did thatUnit works fine now, from the thermostat, no leaks either

I asked Choate's Plumbing to c*** and install my garbage disposal and install my new faucet after I had new counter tops installedI had Joe and Chris, I could not have asked for better plumbersI have A*** H*** S*** on my h*** but I have not been real happy with the service people they have sent out I found a leak this weekend and called Choate's this morning They had Lewis and TO c*** out before noon, they were very courteous, found the problem and repaired it very quickly I am very pleased with Choate's service, the employees that are sent and the great work they do

Choates did excellent work today in replacing my heat and AC units, best HVAC organization ever

I called to have an air conditioner fixed that was not coolingThey sent a tech out that was clean and a nice guyI was charged $for the service call (reasonable)My unit needed a capacitor and the tech asked me if I wanted it replacedI told him I didHe replaced it and also the filter inside I asked him if he would check the pressures on my unit since he was there and he did so and they were fine
I told him to get me a bill and I would pay himHe worked up a bill and handed it to me and it was about $I asked him why so much and he pointed out that the capacitor was really exspensive, $in this case just for the capacitor
I didn't argue with him since he was just an employeeI just happen to know what capacitors cost which is about $10-$depending on which one you buyIn fact he gave me the old one and the box the new one came inThe next day, I called the local HVAC store and my cost was $(retail)I don't mind paying a fair mafor parts or my $for the service callBut charging someone $for a $part is not a very nice thing to doI wouldn't even mind paying $for a $part.I understand overhead and everything that goes with it and this is taking advantage of someone that trusts you for fair pricesI called the ownere and he gave me a spill about how much they pay employees and how much service vans costHe offered to give me some money backI told him the purpose of my call was not to ask for a refund but to ask why he is doing this to customers that trust him enough to call him for service at a fair priceHe had no answer95% of customers would think that capacitors really do cost that muchBut, I just happen to know betterI am not mad but just dissappointed !!
Shame on you Choates !!!

Great company and serviceExtremely courteous and thorough from setting the appointment to following up once the work was done

Very please with the quick response and work for my burst water pipeLewis gave me a price quote and finished the job in a timely manner and at the price quotedI would not have any qualms about using Choates again

I called Choate's yesterday and they sent a man out within one hour approximately Lewis was the technician and he looked at our hot water heater and immediately diagnosed the problem and repaired it Great job quick and efficient and a very knowledgeable employee in Lewis

My experience was that Choate's is large enough to not care whether they have your business or not Although Choate's is not responsible for all of the delays, their cancelling both repair appointments on the day of the appoint means I can now say I went the entire winter without HVAC and using space heaters The first appointment on 2/was scheduled to commence between am and am At 9:am, I received a call to reschedule and was told the technician would be unable to make it that day they were busy making up for the wx cancellations the previous two days The second appointment was scheduled for the same time slot on 3/ At 9:am I rec'd a call stating the technician had a personal emergency and I would need to be rescheduled I mentioned that I wasn't sure I wanted to reschedule since I was using vacation time from work to make these appointments and did not want to keep having my time wasted and while I understood the unexpected nature of the second cancellation the first one was to service other customers At this point the person I was speaking to became quite adamant that the first cancellation was because they were incapable of driving the roads to my area Since I had a procedure the day before, I knew from experience, that the roads were worse in Cordova, but by afternoon, the roads were drivable Both times, I mentioned having to figure out when I could take time off from work and neither time was I asked what my work schedule was or offered any time of accomodation to be scheduled on a day off Since the estimate was for half my monthly salary, it would have been nice to feel like my business was appreciated, but instead it feels like I was given the script response in my communications and no more

I called Choates for a plumbing and heating problem I was having at home I waited all day for him to FINALLY show up He spent almost a FULL SECOND "looking under my kitchen sink (without even so much as bending over) And suddenly had a "quote" of about $ WHAT !?!?!?!?! The sink was just leaking, I didn't tell him I needed new EVERYTHING !!!! He came into the house with a flashlight......NOT ONE SINGLE TOOL I also needed my pilot light lit ....I have no heat right now, and thanks to Choates.....I STILL DON'T !!!! He left AFTER explaining to me a "DEAL" they have for a certain amount per month.........BUT FIXED NOTHING !!!!! I wasted a whole day waiting for nothing to happen He said someone would be out tomorrow (today, now, to fix my problems.) IT CAN'T GET COLD ENOUGH FOR ME TO HAVE CHOATES BACK HERE What happened to the days when you called a plumber, you actually GOT a plumber?

months ago we cancelled our home warranty because we were not satisfied with the cost and the contractors who were sent out to do repairs
This was our first call for a plumbing emergency and we chose Choates because of recommendations from friends
We were very satisfied with the serviceThe follow up was great - we were kept informed about the ETA etc
The plumber did a very professional job, was very polite and kept us informed on the repairs

We just started using Choate's last year We are extremely pleased with the company and their work so far We were with another large local HVAC company for years and are so glad we switched to Choates

I would recommend Choates to any of my friends and neighbors They have always been professional and courteous I have bought *** my heating, A/C and plumbing needs from them I can always depend on them to do what they say and show at appointed time Will H*** was my last tech for a plumbing repair He was very prompt ,professional and courteous

I hired Choate's to do some plumbing work at my home and was very pleased with the entire encounter from first call to end of projectI would like to commend and recommend your plumbing technician Steven R***He arrived on time and did a walk through first to let me know the cost up front, and was very thorough in his explanation of the work requiredHe completed the work in a professional and timely manner in spite of having to work around my paintersI would highly recommend Steven and your company
