I ordered square feet of sod from Lach Sod Farm on September 8th, The receptionist *** stated that my order would be delivered on Monday September 14th, at "12noon or a little after on their 2nd load of the day"
I took the Monday off work and had some friends do the same to help lay the sod
I Called Lach sod farm on the Monday at about 11am and was wondering if they had a more exact estimated time of arrival, as I wanted to inform my friends when to show up
*** then informed me that my order had been "pushed back to Tuesday September 15th as they were behind on their commercial contracts" She was very rude about the whole matter, giving me the impression that their commercial contracts are a lot more important then any of their other customers
I was not informed of the schedule change in any way prior to ME actually calling their office on the scheduled day of delivery!
*** stated that she had "emailed me on Thursday (September 10th) notifying me of the change"I never received any email (in my inbox or junk mail folder) so clearly this was not true!
When asked to provide a copy of the email she had "sent on the 10th" *** said she would re-send a copy but she only ever sent me my invoice with no reduced bill or even a simple apology
She was extremely rude on the phone and didn't seem to care that I had taken the day off workI told her to get the sod to us asap and she said maybe she could "squeeze it on the last load of the day"She said she would call
The next time I heard from carol was later in the dayShe said she was able to "fit our sod on the last delivery of the day and that it would be arriving at 6:30pm"
I asked her if I could be compensated in any way for the delay and for the day I had taken off of workShe declined and had the attitude that she had done me some sort of favour by getting the sod to me at 6:30pm
I had all of my friends and family show up at 630pm to help outThe truck arrived at 8:30pm!!
My friends/family wasted hours waiting around We had made several calls to *** during these two hours and had left several messages but none were ever returned
I asked the delivery driver to have his boss call me and as you can guess, that call never came either
Needless to say, I needed to take another day off work to lay the sod the following day with very limited help as everyone couldn't get another day off
I understand that in business, issues arise and sometimes deliveries will get pushed back, but in my opinion it is bad business to not inform customers of schedule changes
A simple phone call or even an email (that they actually sent) would have saved me from having to take an additional day off of work and from loss of wagesI also didn't appreciate the untruthfulness of their receptionist ***, during the whole mix up
Lach Sod Farm has VERY poor customer serviceI would never deal with them again or ever recommend them to anyone *** clearly needs some customer service training as well
