Review: LADY OF AMERICA GYM CEASED OPERATIONS ON 7/31/14 WITHOUT NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS OF GYM... STILL BEING CHARGED MONTHLY CONTRACT FEE FOR SERVICES UNABLE TO USE DUE TO FACT GYM WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. UNABLE TO CONTACT ANYONE REGARDING UNRESOLVED ISSUES CONCERNING THIS GYM.Desired Settlement: COMPANY SHOULD NOTIFY MEMBERSHIP PERSONS AND STOP COLLECTING AUTOMATIC MONTHLY FEE. COMPANY NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. WHY SHOULD CONTRACT MEMBERSHIP BE IN EFFECT. MANY DISGRUNTLED AND DISAPPOINTED MEMBERS.

Review: Lady of America gym closed their doors with no warning and no forwarding location or telephone # (which is disconnected) I call corporate [redacted] and they can not give me any information. I asked to speak to a supervisor and there was none around. I want to cancel this membership immediately, it comes right out of a credit card. I called the bank and I can not block the charge, I just have to dispute it when the charge comes in. This is very strange, to leave without telling members. No sign on the door and a disconnected phone #. What am I suppose to do?Desired Settlement: I want out of my contact which is 18 months and started on 12/30/13. There is no replacement gym to go to, I have every right to discontinue this membership. Please help ASAP.

Review: Signed a 3 year contract with Lady of America ("LOA") in January 2013. I actively visited the gym and participated in Spin classes, Zumba, Bootcamp and other classes at least 5 days per week. I last visited the gym on July 31, 2014 and was there until 8:30 pm. I saw the gyms owner that night along with her husband and two children. On Friday morning I drove to the gym and there was a sign that said the gym was "temporarily" closed. The sign has since been changed and now says they are moving to a new location. Their website provides a number to contact for further information. I contacted the number and was notified that they are the collection agent for the money dues. They advised that they received an email from the owner specifically stating that they cannot cancel any memberships. The gym has been closed for 18 days with no indicating of when or if it will be reopening. I wanted to cancel my membership to continue my health regime at another gym. They will not cancel my membership and advised that they will pursue a collection action if I cancel my automatic payment on my credit card. The gym wants to charge me, but there is no gym open. They want to take money for a service they are not providing. The gym breached the contract the moment they closed the door and did not provide a convenient alternate location. I have been unable to exercise the last few weeks because I cannot join another gym as I am still being charged by the now closed LOA in Green Brook, New Jersey.Desired Settlement: I would like my membership cancelled so that I do not have to pay for a service that I am not getting. I would like the opportunity to join another gym to continue my journey to better health.

Review: lady of America gym closed their doors with no warning and no forwarding location or telephone # (which is disconnected) I called the other two locations they have and it is disconnected as well.. I also called corporate [redacted] UT 84041-0497 ###-###-#### and they will not give me any information to what happen. I asked to speak to supervisor and there wasn't any around. Very odd... I want to cancel my membership immediately, it comes right out of my credit card each month. I called the bank and I can not block the charge, I just have to dipute it when the charge comes in, and they already charged my credit card this month.... This is very strange, to leave without telling members what they are doing... No sign on the door and a disconnected phone #. What am I suppose to do?Desired Settlement: I want out of my membership contact which is 18 months and started on 01/11/14. There is no replacement gym to go to, I have every right to discontinue this membership. Please help ASAP...

Review: I purchased a 3 year contract with this facility on Mar 30, 2014. In the beginning of August this facility has shut it doors without warning to the members. The contact information is no longer valid and the website for this particular location just says that they are relocating. Since this facility closing I have been billed for the month of Aug and Sept. I tried reaching out to Lady of America's third party billing National Fitness ###-###-#### on Sept 2, 2014. They advised that they are aware of the closing of this location due to other members calling in about it. National Fitness advised that until they receive something in writing from the owners of this Lady of America facility they will not be able to discontinue the automatic billing for my contract. I asked if it was possible to cancel my contract since I am now paying for something that is no longer available to me. National Fitness feedback was that pursuant to their policy the only way a contract can be cancelled is if the member relocates 25 miles away from a facility or becomes medically unable to use the facility.

I understand their policy however this is considered an exception and it's not being treated as such. The number for Lady of America corporate office appears to not be in service ###-###-####. This number is listed on the back of my contract.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for Aug and Sept since the facility is no longer available for use, nor was we offered an alternative facility to go to along with the option to cancel my contract.

Response:

THIS CASE IS RESOLVED.

Review: Without proper notice to the clients, the gym has closed its doors but continues to collect monthly dues.

We are directed to a website that offers no information .

We are directed to a phone number that offers no information.Desired Settlement: Due to the gym closing it's doors, I request out of the contract and a refund for the time that it has been closed.

Review: The gym closed six weeks ago with no warning. The website claims that the gym is relocating but in the six weeks time no information has been given as to where the new gym will be opening or when. No alternate gym membership has been given and yet the company that collects Lady of America's membership fees continues to call and say that I still must keep paying and cannot cancel my membership. I put a hold on my account but they insist that I keep paying even though there is no gym that I can attend. I believe six weeks is adequate time to at least inform members of when this relocation process will happen and where. I think indefinitely charging members for the forseeable future without providing any information is extremely underhanded. Especially since none of the phone numbers or social media sites exist to contact anyone involved with the gym.Desired Settlement: All I want is to end my contract from the moment the gym closed. I will pay a partial month's payment for when it was opened if they want.

Review: On the first week of September, 2014, I received a letter stating that Lady of America in [redacted] NJ was closed as of 8/31/2014. today 9/22/2014 I see a charge of the membership for this Gym, even though this Gym has closed as of August 31st, I contacted [redacted] (###-###-####)who is the company charging me for this membership to get a reimbursement and they stated that I needed to send a cancellation notice?! when I received a letter of the closing of the Gym it did not mention anywhere that I needed to send a cancellation request. and since it closed I did not think I needed to. Now [redacted] is requesting I send them a cancellation notice, that it will take about 30 days to process meaning I will be charged again for the month of October, even though, the gym closed. Please Help!Desired Settlement: to get refunded for the Month of September and October of 2014 since the Gym closed.

Review: I had been a member of Lady of America for 2+ years along with my daughters. On July 31st the company closed it's doors and did not notify member until September 3rd that memberships had been transferred to [redacted]. I had contacted my credit card company to stop payment to this vendor and since my card on file expired they told me the gym would not be able to process payments. I was contacted by [redacted] that does the collection for Lady of America and they advised my account was past due and they were going to send me to collections. I inquired why should I pay for a service if the gym was closed for over a month and apparently in order to cancel membership they charge you another month. They insisted I was past due and sent me to collections--which I am now disputing with the credit card company (I paid the fee because I don't want them to mess with my credit). I will be contacting the [redacted] Police Department tomorrow to file a complaint.Desired Settlement: I just want my refund of $158.20 and for them to reverse the damage they did to my credit.
