I was an applicant for this apartment complex. On Friday April 13th, 2018, I submitted an application, an application fee and a deposit for an apartment. The leasing consultant that I was working with informed me that they needed to verify my employment. I had my supervisor write a offer letter and I submitted a documentation stating that I was employed with a company overhead. However, the leasing consultant denied my application even after having a verbal conversation with my employer. The next day April 14, 2018, they informed me that they already rented the apartment out to another applicant. I believe this is an act of discrimination! I did everything possible to get the documentation in properly and even a deposit for the apartment! I do believe this apartment complex discriminates against minorities! I would recommend not doing business with this apartment complex!
Ashley did attempt to apply to our apartment community, however, she did not have the required information that we need to run an application. She said she was new to her place of employment and did not have a paystub. When someone is new to a job we require an offer letter that states that they are employed and documents what their salary will be. Ashley gave us a letter stating she had applied with Cedar House but was not hired. We then received a letter stating she was employed, however, there was not anything that said what her salary or hourly wage was. Without proof of Employment/Income we do not want to waste an applicants application fee of $45.00. We cannot approve an application for anyone without the required documentation. Our Leasing Agent explained that she would need a letter stating she was hired and what her income would be. We require proof that an applicants gross monthly income is 3 times the amount of the rent. Her money was given back to her, we did not deposit it since we did not have the required information. Upon requesting to fill out an application each Applicant is given a form which is our "Application Policy & Disposition of Security Deposit' as well as "Resident Screening and Occupancy Standards. This form clearly explains all requirements that an Applicant must supply. In addition to this, Ashley did not supply us with a current address on her application, which was requested by our Leasing Agent. We need to have the past three years of addresses for each applicant. Our Leasing Agent was specifically following our application process and requirements.
Hi, the information that Lake Cove submitted is false. Based upon the reviews it is clear that they discriminate. I was working at the time and did apply with the required documentation. Their reasoning for denying me was because I did not have a company overhead on my documents after Deliah spoke with my supervisor she still denied me. The next day when I had the required overhead on my documentation , she lied to me and told me that the apartment was rented. Which is clearly discrimination!
