October 1, 2015 Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] I am acknowledging your letter I received and feel there is nothing more I can do satisfy your requests. The new [redacted] system was installed properly based on my...

20+ years of experience and detailed information from the manufacturer’s representative. The installation manual does state that the return air duct should be installed on both of the sides or bottom of the furnace because the furnace comes from the factory with a 5-ton blower assembly. The system is installed as a 3-ton system, requiring the maximum air flow of 1050 CFM. The cut out of the return duct is allowing 1800 CFM. Bringing the return in the bottom of the unit or both sides will not change the run time of the unit. The house has always been comfortable and reached temperature. The initial concern brought to my attention was that you felt the unit ran too much. It was determined that the thermostat was being set back or set a higher temperature (5 degrees) while you were at work and then turned back down when you returned home. Due to the high ambient temperature and the high humidity levels at this time the unit did run until it recovered temperature. The setback was reduced to two degrees setback. You still felt the unit ran too much. I returned and checked system, again finding no issues with the performance of the system. It was determined the new thermostat installed with the new system was off about two degrees. I purchased a new, more expensive thermostat and installed. Again you expressed your concerns about the run time of the unit. I returned again and checked the operation of the system. The system again checked out as operating properly. I did relocate the thermostat and thermostat wire to the center of the house on this visit. You still felt the unit was not operating properly. The request I received was to start up the heat and you would get a second opinion from a friend. I returned and started the heat up at that time and still found no issues with the system. On start up, I had a 16 degree superheat and 18 degree temperature drop across the coil during cooling, as well as each time I checked the system. I had a 68 degree temperature rise (on a 78 degree day) and a gas pressure of 3.5” WC in heat. I contacted [redacted] technical support as well as the manufacturer’s representative and explained your concerns several times. I provided details of the installation as well as the readings I recorded on startup of the equipment. The response I was given was, “A perfectly designed system with the thermostat set at 72 degrees on a 95 degree day will run non-stop to maintain the 72 degree set point. There are no issues with the installation or the equipment.” I have received repeated phone calls and texts that I feel have turned from a concerned customer to harassment. I honestly feel threated at this point. I stated before I began the work that I would stand behind my work and have done so. The system was installed properly. I have gone over and above to try to meet your satisfaction and will not be returning to complete any additional work. The equipment has been registered with [redacted] for the 10 year parts warranty which can be provided to you by any contractor. Thank you, Bob R[redacted] Lake Effect Mechanical, LLC.
