Lake Road Amoco

Carried vehicle to Lake Road Amoco with issue of going dead and then not restarting for approximately twenty minutes. Was told needed heater core and new computer as water from heater core was dripping on computer. Shop kept vehicle almost two weeks and charged $427. Same problem continued and truck was returned to shop the following day with request to also replace plugs and new tail pipe (which was not done). Was told new computer was not right and needed to reorder. Then told vehicle now needed head casket. Had to demand vehicle be returned almost two weeks later. Head casket now blow, but was not blown when initially taken to the shop or when returned, but was when finally picked up. Computer was not needed as heater core was not leaking. Mechanic assumed heater core was leaking due to water under floor mat. Carpet was/is wet due to leak around windshield. Now have heater core and computer that was not needed, lost $427 and vehicle needs head casket ($900) which was apparently blown due to shop leaving truck running (without proper fluid levels after unneeded heater core repair ) for hours to see if it went dead (gas tank was filled both times before being taken to shop and returned empty (gas gauge does not work)) but truck had been driven only 8 miles.Product_Or_Service: Auto repairDesired SettlementA full refund is desired, plus reimbursement for head casket repair. $427 plus $900 plus taxes = $1500. Business Response Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Shop refunded original cost of $427 for unneeded computer and heater core but refused to pay for head casket repairs. Cost to fix head casket and heads was $881.23. Head casket was not blown when originally taken to shop, truck was only going dead. Same problem continued when truck taken home. Truck was returned to shop as soon as I got off work the following day. Truck was not run by me without fluids and only driven the 3.8 miles round trip from shop to home. The reason the truck was going dead was a bad ignition control module $48.31. I advised Mr.[redacted] when I first carried the vehicle to him it was probably ignition or fuel related and it was. Why he replaced the computer and heater core is unknown. All truck needed was the control module. Truck did not have a blown head casket when taken to him or when returned to him. Also, Mr.[redacted] called me on 4/17/14 and in a very terse conversation was irate that this customer had complained to the Revdex.com and he threatened me with legal action for complaining. He repeatedly accused me of "not telling the whole story" because the complaint did not state that he had refunded the $427 (he agreed to refund the original amount after I had complained). Final Business Response Mr. [redacted] is going to maintain unhappy until his vehicle has a new motor. I am standing my ground. I Fully Refunded him $460.00 and He still has the New Heater Core And Computer on his truck which fixed the problem that he brought it in for in the first place. His truck has truck has 500,000 miles on it. This is the second engine since truck was new. This means he has 250,00 on this engine. I feel like he is using this to get a new engine I'm very sorry about his problem gut the agreement between him and I as a full refund which I paid. He said he was happy!XXXX XXXXX
