Lake Service Station Inc.

Review: Our car needed to be towed from a wooded area last week due to an accident. This happened on a Saturday night. We wanted our own tow company to come, but the officer at the scene did not want to wait for our tow company to get there so he called the local tow company. As Lake Service was towing the car out, we saw that there was a stump and if they continued to pull the car out, the stump was either going to ruin the tire or do damage to the back bumper. We ask the tow driver to remove the stump, but he didn't. At any rate, the bumper now is damaged.

Monday morning I called Lake Service where the car was towed to. I wanted to find out the cost to pick up the car. I was put on hold and someone else came on the phone to tell me it would cost $500.00 to get the car. Of course I was in shock. His attitude with me was terrible. He asked me if I was there when they pulled the car out. I said yes. He said, well then you know we had to cut down tress to get the car out and that they were there for an hour. (which is not true) The trees they cut down were two small ones, no bigger than five inches. He proceeded to tell me to call my insurance company to put in the claim with them to have them pay for it.

My husband called the service station to find out why they are charging us so much. This man's attitude and tone was completely unprofessional! He tells my husband that this is the price and when you call the insurance company, he is going to charge the insurance company $700.00 for the tow and a $50.00 fee per day for storage.

So we didn't feel comfortable in leaving our car there. We wanted to get our car out of there as quickly as possible. We had the auto body shop come pick up the car. Lake Service charged our auto body shop $650.00 before they would release the car to them.

When our car got over to the auto body shop, we were able to inspect the car in more detail and found that the bumper did indeed have damage done to it because of Lake service, but also the back tire had a flat. When the car got onto the flat bed Saturday night, all four tires were fine. I cannot prove that Lake Service did anything, but it's just a gut feeling. Within that same week of the accident, we just purchased four brand new tires. The cost was $460.00.

We found out through the insurance company that the car is totaled. So that the tires were not a total lost for us, we went and took the tires off the car and put average tires back on. We did this exchange of the tries from the place where we purchased the tires from. I had asked him if the damaged tire could be fixed. They said no, the tire has a slash in it. If this would of happened at the time of the tow, then the tire would of been flat immediately. I strongly believe Lake Service had something to do with it, but again. I know I can't prove it.

I am just so upset with the way this man was so unprofessional and rude. I am also amazed how these "service stations" are taking advantage of the consumer!!!! They are part of the reasons why our insurance rates are so expensive. The price gouging these service stations are doing to the consumer is crazy. I took pictures of the car just when the tow driver got to the site. He was there 30 to 40 minuets!Desired Settlement: My desired out come of this is to let people know what kind of "service" you get from "Lake Service" and the down right attitude they have. UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!

I would have wanted them to repair the bumper and replace the back tire, but being that the car is totaled, I don't think I can get anything from this.
