Lakewell Builders Incorporated Reviews (1)

Review: I hired Lakewall Builders to cement a drive-way turnaround we had recently had built. The utility of that turn-around was contingent upon the cement covering certain areas of the driveway. In order to ensure that the cement contractors understood these needs I took off of work to meet with the contractor. We went over the project inlcluding these critical areas. They were marked and dug out. I also had the invididual who built the turn around also ensure they understood the project.Upon return from work the drive way turn-around was cemented but not these critical areas. There was no contractor-initiated follow up regarding the job. I made five email contacts seeking any reasonable mutual resolution (with pictures of these areas)and was offered none. responses included the following:" My dad is the one that quoted this and met with you and Mr. XXX. I am going to give him your number and you will have to take this issue up with him. Other than that I cant really offer anything else. We did the job as instructed and only he knows what you described in your meeting."Another response was:"As far as I'm concerned the job was done according to plan. It is not our responsibility to rememdy something that is non existant." As a result I had to have another contractor put together a 'stop gag' solution so that the driveway turn around is operational. It is not cemented and these areas are essentially filled with dirt and gravel.I find the error confusing given how explicit I was but I found the customer service response far worse. I sought any reasonable remedy either completion or financial compensation and instead was dismissed and treated with indifference as these two email examples incidate. I was very polite and understanding of their realities in my emails and am left with an incomplete project which I paid full price for and a feeling of being irrelevant or a bother to the organization for raising my concerns in an approprite and respectful manner.Desired Settlement: I originally sought any remedy. Given that he have had to remedy at our own time and cost I seek a reasonable financial adjustment for incompleted work. Efforts to discuss the situation or be open to remedy as deemed fit by the organization were rebuked with responses as illustrated above.

To whom it may concern:

This is a response to complaint number [redacted]. Mr [redacted] hired us through a company that he contracted to do landscaping work at his house. We met on multiple occasions with the landscaper and Mr. [redacted]. During these meetings it was explained to us that we were to install the concrete and all excavation and installation of proper base would be done for us. Due to this understanding the job was bid in this manner. When we arrived at Mr. [redacted]'s residence everything was dug for us and our instructions were to form and pour in the area that the landscaper had dug and built the wall. We did have to bring in a considerable amount of stone to meet a proper height for our slab but did not seek or even make mention of this to the landscaper or the homeowner. Initially everyone was happy with the product it was only after sometime that Mr. [redacted] conctacted me about the turn around not being "functional". In addition to this the location of the retaining wall would not allow him to make use of any additional area of concrete. In his original email he led by telling me the invoice was more than he had expected and later backed off when I questioned him on this. The price of this project had never changed from our end and was the same from the 2months of bid until the day of invoicing. This coupled with his acceptable resolution being a deduction of money should be sufficeint evidence of his motives. Mr. [redacted] just wants something for nothing. This is something that a handful of customers attempt to do every year and if the complaint is substantial I have no problem giving ground, but when it is clear to me getting money back is the solution then there is no issue with the functionality of our product. It is also important that the finish, pitch/flow, and other concrete related issues are not present here. This is all we can say about this matter and look forward to getting a positive response.

Sincerely,

[redacted], Vice President
