LaMonica Tile & Stone Reviews (4)

Review: [redacted] took on the responsibility for renovating our master bathroom. He deserves a failing grade. Here is why:1.The tiling was done poorly, with no attention to detail. The tiles and chair rail were not placed evenly. There are noticeable gaps between tiles and some of the edges protrude from the wall. The tiles in the shower were not sloped to drain properly. Exceptionally poor quality of workmanship.2.[redacted] made constant excuses for not showing up. We were able to confirm that he was lying on many occasions.3.[redacted] had a plumbing subcontractor who had not been paid for the last few jobs with [redacted]. Half way through the plumbing job, he suggested we use another plumber so that he would not have to pay him. When we refused, [redacted] abandoned the job (he had taken 50% down and, if he paid the plumber the past dues, the remaining 50% would not have been enough).4.He has not returned our calls. So, we have hired other contractors to complete the job, including the plumber, whom we paid for this job.5.Do not make the mistake of using this guy, or his assistant, [redacted].Desired Settlement: [redacted] should refund the 50% down that he took from us, because he did not complete the job.

Review: LaMonica took a deposit from us for a home improvement job and eventually walked off with our money after doing some light demo and destroying materials we had provided. Over the span of nearly 2 weeks (a total of 9 business days), he showed up on only 2 of the days (once with an assistant; he was late both times) despite repeated promises to come each business day, giving various excuses for his absences and tardiness. On the last day that he was meant to work, he told us that he had suffered an injury and would not be able to finish the job; however, he offered us a full refund (he has promised us a full refund on several occasions). The same day, we discovered the ruined materials and confronted him immediately. We received one more excuse regarding the materials and have not heard from him since.Desired Settlement: We are seeking a full refund for our deposit as well as the cost of the ruined materials.

Review: Jason Lamonica (Lamonica Tile of Milford, CT) was hired to complete a tile floor and tile shower in my bathroom. He was paid $1750 in cash to complete the job as soon as he stated that he had finished. I was told to not enter the room for 24 hours to allow tiles to dry, which I abided by. Once I was able to enter the room it was clearly apparent that there were major problems with the work. First, he installed one broken tile in the new shower and the shampoo nook is uneven. Second, ample spacing was not left between marble tiles on one shower wall and shower ceiling to allow for grout lines and adequate moisture barriers, and grout that was done is cracking. Third, floor tiles are uneven. Overall, the job is very sloppy and I am unable to use the bathroom in its current state. I have made phone calls and emails to Jason at [redacted] and [redacted] and [redacted] over the last three weeks in an attempt to get him to address these issues and have received no response. I am extremely frustrated at this point, would like a simple response and agreement to fix poorly done work that has been paid for, and reduce the liklihood that other people have the same experience with Lamonica Tile and Jason Lamonica.Desired Settlement: Change three 12"x24" white subway tiles on shower wall which will remove broken tile and fix sloppy shampoo nook schluter.

Review: Jason Lamonica owner of Lamonica Tile, was hired to renovate our master bath. After weeks of delay, he gutted our bathroom and weeks later has not returned to do any work on the bath. He has not responded to multiple calls, emails or messages. He also did not pay the plumber who did work on our bath. He has not responded to calls from the plumber either.Desired Settlement: Requesting a refund of $1300 for services paid for and not received. Removal and payment for the dumpster left in our driveway. And return of our house key.
