LaMontagne Plumbing & Heating Reviews (2)

The contractor entered on earlier page (LaMontagne Plumbing & Heating Co.)was contracted to install a new well water storage tank to replace our old tank which was starting to leak. The contractor did this and was paid within five days of completion. Later it was discovered that our well pump was seriously damaging itself as a result of having to cycle on and off way too often because the water storage tank was way too small for our application. Upon contacting the contractor with this information he denied that the tank was the wrong size, and denied that our well pump was being seriously damaged, actually claiming there was absolutely no damage, or life-shortening situation for our pump. He agreed to install a new, larger tank, but never did, due to some scheduling conflicts, followed by a several month planned vacation. Given that serious delay I installed the proper size tank myself, protecting our pump from further damage. In essence, I had to completely redo everything he had done, rendering everything he had charged me a complete waste. Upon return from that several month vacation he agreed to refund me the cost of the tank he had installed. However the refund he gave me was no where near the cost he had charged me for the tank. Had he done so you would not be hearing from me now. Truth be known, the refund should really have been the complete amount, labor included, since it was a complete waste, completely redone by me. How on Earth could a plumbing contractor for more than 40 years not know the damage to a well pump resulting from excessive on/off cycles, plus when presented to him with reliable supporting evidence, continues to deny any validity to the the facts I had easily dug up? I have never before encountered such an ignorant, unable-to-listen contractor in my life. He screwed up big time, but continues to deny any facts I provide.Product_Or_Service: Installation of new water tank for wellDesired SettlementA refund for the full amount of the well tank alone would probably shut me up, but given that the entire job was a complete botch, and had to be completely redone by me, a full refund, labor included, would be the right thing to do.Business Response The homeowner is convinced that the tank I installed was the wrong size. I sent engineering specifications to back me up and he refused to believe they were legitimate. I offered to attempt to correct his complaint and he refused. I gave him money back in an attempt to satisfy him not because I agreed with any fault only because I cannot reason with him. I finally took the tank back and gave him the money for the tank. I don't know what else to do. The only thing left is some of my blood. I do donate to the blood bank, perhaps we can work something out? PS I am retired and no longer in business, 45 years and I never had a complaint against me that I know of. Please contact me anytime and include what more I can do to satisfy Mr. [redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) His first claim in his response is that I refused to believe the legitimacy of the spec sheets he sent me. The truth is that the spec sheets were completely invalid as the actual tank performance didn't even come close to what those sheets stated. The real refusal to believe is on his part, as he completely denied the validity of the accurate measurements I had taken, claiming that there was no way the spec sheets could be wrong. Second, he is claiming I refused to have him correct the situation. That too is a lie. I was perfectly willing to have him correct the problem but by the time he said he was available our basement had flooded and the work would have to wait. When the flooding stopped I contacted him again to schedule the work. He said it should be in a day or two, but soon he called back to let me know his schedule had been disrupted and that he would be leaving town for two or three months. That being the case, I wasn't going to let our well pump continue to take a beating and so I did the work myself. Third, he is accusing me of not being willing to reason. That too is a false claim as he is the one who refused to listen to reason. All this said, I now say let's just drop it as it's not worth all the aggravation caused by dealing with such a close-minded individual. In summary, there's not one thing that I said that he would accept, he denied absolutely everything, and is still doing it. [redacted]
