Lancia Automobiles Reviews (2)

Review: I purchased a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid from this dealership. My boyfriend and I personally spoke with their "Certified Technician" who assured us that everything was in working condition. The CARFAX of this vehicle was provided and while it was looked over he stated that the battery had just been replaced. Three (3) days later the check engine light came on. The car was taken to Maita Honda in Citrus Heights, CA and found to need the hybrid battery to be replaced. A quote of $1,500 was given for the part and an addition $1,500 for labor cost. Due to the nature of the repair, it was explained that it is necessary to remove the entire rear portion of the vehicle just to access this battery. The battery cells are no longer functioning correctly, therefore, the entire reason that this hybrid was purchased is useless due to the battery not even functioning properly. This was brought to the attention of the individual who sold this to me and his offer to correct the situation was "there's not much I can help you with except offering you a warranty for 6 months, or give you my profit from this car, which is only $350", and "So this is my offer, $350 or warranty for 6 months, that's all I can offer you. If you want to report me to the Revdex.com and you think its fair, well I can't stop you. I'll deal with Revdex.com." Upon receiving this response, I requested that he purchase the car back at no additional fees (diagnostic or gas spent having to travel back and forth to the shop) and he stated "If you want to return the car you're gonna have to pay $500 for contract cancellation and 15% restocking fees. If you want to do that, I'll take it back." I pointed out that this is insulting to which he said "I'm not insulting anyone, this is business and I'm telling you thing like they are." At this point, I just want a full refund from this this dealership and never wish to do business with him again. I would also like to make the public aware of the type of business that is being conducted here.Desired Settlement: Taking into consideration the insulting manner in which this individual conducts business, I just want my money back and be back at square one with the ability to shop elsewhere. Sale of the car, taxes and fees; all of it returned. He can take this car back. I would like to also factor in the cost of the diagnostic, which was told had been completed at the dealership, as well as the fuel cost for multiple trips made to the shop, which he scheduled, when trying to resolve this.

Response:

When the car was sold, buyer was offered to purchase contract cancellation option to which she declined. At the time of purchase it was stated very clear that this is AS IS car with out any warranty or any cooling of period, and buyer was offered to purchase warranty to which buyer declined. Buyer also had the opportunity to take the car for inspection but buyer never did that. I personally drove this car for over 150 miles, battery was holding charge very good, and that's what I said to the buyer that it seems like battery was previously replaced because it was holding charge very good for this year and miles on the car. Car currently had 170,xxx miles at time of purchase. Before buying the car, buyer test drove the car, car was driving great, no lights were on, passed smog, everything was great. As a dealer, I need to make sure that car passes safety inspection (smog) and in driving condition, all this was done to the car, all the options I have for the buyer at the time of purchase was declined. When the buyer came back to the office, I offered to buy warranty or i'll take the car back for 20% restocking fees, that option was declined. At this point I don't have any options for the buyer and I can't take a car back.Thank you[redacted]

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:I made a purchase of aHonda Hybrid because it was a hybrid. When the purchase of my hybrid was made, both the “certified technician” and the owner assured us that the battery hadbeen checked and was good. In good faith, we trusted that fact to be true.Three days after driving the car from the lot, the engine light turned on towhich I took the vehicle to Maita Honda in Citrus Heights, CA and learned thatthe hybrid battery needed to be replaced. I promptly returned to LanciaAutomobiles with the diagnostic data proving that the battery needed to bereplaced at $3000 for a vehicle which had a sticker price of $4500. When it wasbrought up that a diagnostic by his "certified technician" was notdone as stated, the owner ([redacted]) conveniently stated that the“certified technician” had been fired the day prior. He did not explain why hehad been let go but after the fact of purchase, it continued to not leave anyvote of confidence about the owner’s business practices and integrity, andquestioned the level of "expertise" of employees. I believe that hada diagnostic been done as stated, I wouldn’t be in this position, and those atMaita Honda agreed. [redacted]’ (owner)unwillingness to correct or even take ownership of this situation, again leadsme to believe that he had prior knowledge of the state of the car or at leastthe likelihood of this issue. Had I been provided with a complete picture ofthis vehicle to make an informed decision with, a complaint to the Revdex.com wouldnot have been needed. Attempts to rectifythe issue continued to which his answers became inconsistent, asking me formore money each time we spoke. At first he asked for 3 days to do some“research” which led us to believe that he was considering replacing the hybridbattery and had made derogatory remarks about how the Honda dealer marks up theprices excessively. When we arrived back at the dealership for the thirdtime, he said nothing at all about replacing the battery (I assumed that helearned that in fact the hybrid battery was as expensive as quoted from theHonda dealership). Then he offered to sell me a warranty, after the fact, butconveniently told the Revdex.com that he “offered to buy the warranty”; this was neverstated to me that day. An offer of his “profit”, which he claims was only $350,was followed up with him stating that he would buy back the car for a %15restocking fee initially, then it turned into me needing to pay an additional$500 plus %15 restocking fee, which apparently has increased to %20 restockingfee in his response to Revdex.com. All of this can beconfirmed by the email string in which [redacted] and my boyfriend went back andforth as he was attempting to assist me in this situation. The owner has not once seemedreasonable or willing to work with us to compromise on a reasonable solution. After spending time, effort and money all in hopes of havinga reliable and environmentally friendly vehicle, I am left with one that hasonly left me and my children more burdened and disappointed assuming I, as afemale consumer, would be easy to take advantage of.

Review: On August 4, 2015 I purchased a 2007 [redacted], VIN [redacted], from Lancia Automobiles in Roseville, CA. On October 12, 2015, Lancia Automobiles received a letter stating that the 2007 [redacted] was a Manufacturer Buyback and to please remit payment in the amount of $7,575.41 immediately.

On November 4, 2015 I received an email from Lancia Automobiles stating that the car was a Manufacturer Buyback and that I had two options. First option; I could swap the cars and get the same loan with all of the same numbers or, option two; bring the car back and he would cancel out the contract. On November 7, 2015 I chose to bring the car back and cancel out the contract. Lancia Automobiles returned to me the deposit of $2,000.00 and the $500.00 towards the cost of the DMV paperwork. Money returned did not include three months of payments I made to [redacted] or the $415.70 I put into the car in repairs.

I am attaching all necessary documentation to show that the contract has been cancelled due to the car being a Manufacturer Buyback and that I am no longer in possession of the 2007 [redacted] in question.

[redacted] refuses to take my name off of the loan until Lancia Automobiles repurchases the car. Legally once that contract was cancelled and the car was returned, I was no longer responsible for that [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like my name off of the loan and the money back that I put into the vehicle.

Three months of payments (403.00 Ea)

Money put into repairs and maintenence (700.00)

Plus I was without a car for a week because of this and had to find rides and take [redacted].

Opening a case with [redacted] as well.

Response:

Lancia Automobiles is not responsible for repaying any debt between client and the bank. Dealer reimburse the downpayment to client and signed the cancelled contract. If client wishes to go after the bank and purse reimbursement from bank for three months of payments and work client did to the car, it is client choice to do so, Lancia Automobiles has nothing to do with this.
