Review: On May 11, 2014, I was returning to New York City from Cape Cod. I was driving a brand new 2014 [redacted] that I purchased in March 2014. The front hood opened on the car while driving on the highway. Luckily I was able to stop without causing an accident. I could not close the hood of the car, but was able to secure it. I contacted the Customer Relationship Center of Land Rover, who arranged that my car be brought into service in [redacted]. I was told by the Customer Relationship Center that the Land Rover dealer found nothing wrong with the hood, which was inconsistent with the report I received from the dealer directly. Despite this inconsistency the hood release was replaced and now operates correctly. Given the fact that this incident could have resulted in serious injury or death, I requested that the Customer Relationship Center compensate me. They elected to provide me with gift certificates with a value of $550 that can be used for anything at a Land Rover dealer. Apparently the going rate for four people at Land Rover (including a 2 and 4 year old) is $550.Desired Settlement: Honestly, I don't know what would be a fair settlement for this incident, but I do know it is not gift certificates totaling $550.
