*** * *** ***’s Range Rover Sport was experiencing a very intermittent issue with the electronic instrument cluster going blankWhile the vehicle was in our service department several different employees from the Service Director, Shop Foreman, Service Advisor and Technician all drove the
vehicle hundreds of miles after any repair was made and each time the cluster did not failElectrical problems that are intermittent are by far the technician’s biggest challenge when it comes to diagnosisYou cannot hope to diagnose and repair something that you can’t see happeningThe customer will be unhappy if you “throw parts” at an intermittent problem with the hope of fixing itIt’s an unfortunate situation and we certainly understand the ***’s aggravation.This last visit to our service department on January 7, we were able to involve a Land Rover field service engineer and he had our technician replace the instrument cluster along with a newly designed harness clipAgain four different employees drove the car miles with no failure.In an attempt to compensate the ***’s for their frustration and inconvenience we did a complementary detail on the car and filled up the gas tankThe vehicle has been released back to the ***’s and we have called them daily and Mrs*** tells us the cluster is working fine with no faults.Sincerely,*** ***
