This dealership should care more about people.
I took my Xts Cadillac car for repairs for the same problem to Bud Davis. A salesman came to me and said I should consider getting out of the car before the warranty expires. I let the salesman know that I had to speak with my husband first. The salesman looked in the system and took it upon himself to pull our credit. My husband was very upset with him because we did not give him permission to do so. On 5/25/19 we were picking up my xts and the salesman approached us about buying the xt5 and painted a pretty no down payment picture about the car. Jessie knew we didn't have any money to put down and said in 2 years we could get out of the lease. To make a long story short, we got the xt5 on 5/25/19. I called Jessie the salesman at Bud Davis on Monday after I called the finance company. I let Jessie know that I didn't like the car and they I'm afraid to drive it because it cuts off when I stop. Jessie said I couldn't bring the car back. Jessie said the deal had already been funded. I called the finance company and they told me that the deal were not funded yet. I have been trying everything I can to reach Jessie the salesman at the time at Bud Davis. I've called up to Bud Davis many time. I've made my June, July and August payment $750.00 a month on a car that I'm very afraid of and I feel that no one at Bud Davis cares not ever Mr Davis himself. The reason I feel that mr Davis don't care is because I have called many times and left messages on mr Davis voice mail and still to this day have not received not one call from him. It's really sad because when my husband Purchased a $80,000 truck from him, service couldn't give him another loaner car, mr Davis returned my call and said the loaner car was ready, this was after I left him a voice mail so I know he's getting my messages. I called one morning and the receptionist transferred me to Keith D phone, a salesman at Bud Davis. Keith D I told him what happened and he told Jessie did that to make a sale, it was funny to Keith. He said Jessie was no longer with the company. As I was talking Keith hung up the phone on me. I called mr Davis and left another message. Still no phone call yet. I am 100% sure that *** would love this story because It was very misleading and many other things I could truly say about Bud Davis Cadillac. I want people across the world to know about my experience with this company. I had no opportunity to cancel because Bud Davis did not allow me to. I will let everyone I can know about what they did to me. I want Bud Davis Cadillac come get the car and put it back on their car lot. I don't want or like the car and I told Jessie that. All they car about is a sale. The old Bud Davis I knew and many of my customers knew and was close friends with, he wasn't like this. Many of my customers who's were doctors and lawyers couldn't believe that Bud Davis Cadillac did this to me. I want everyone to know about what happened to me before they buy from this company. Thank you

Desired Outcome

Return this car back to the dealership

Landers Cadillac Of Memphis Response • Sep 12, 2019

This customer purchased a car from a salesman who is no longer with the company. There are no notes in her file about wanting to return the car.

The stop-start feature she does not like is on almost all our vehicles now. It stops the engine, usually at stoplights, when the engine is not under heavy loads. It is not defective but is meant to save gasoline. It cannot be manually turned off in this case.

The last time that I received a message from the customer, I gave the name and Number to my general manager. He would be the person to try and trade this lady into another vehicle. He says she never answered his calls.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is not true, I trusted the Salesman and HE TOLD ME I could not return the car. Yes the salesman is no longer with the company but I have nothing to do with that. I WAS NOT GIVEN AND TOLD TO CALL THE GENERAL MANAGER. YES NO NOTES BECAUSE THE SALESMAN ONLY CARED ABOUT MAKING A DOLLAR AND DID NOT PUT NOTES IN TO THE SYSTEM, THIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM. NO ONE FROM BUD DAVIS NEVER CALLED ME. I HAVE NO MISSED CALLS OR MESSAGES FROM BUD DAVIS. THE FINACE COMPANY TOLD ME THAT BUD DAVIS CAN RESALE THE CAR. IT WOULD BE 33,000 AND BUD DAVIS KNOWS THIS BUT DO NOT WANT TO MAKE IT RIGHT. I WONDER HOW MANY OTHERS ARE GOING THROUGH THIS. WELL MAYBE I'LL SEND A MESSAGE OUT TO THE PUBLIC TO SEE IF THIS IS NOT TAKEN CARE OF. THE START AND STOP BUTTEN ARE NOT O ALL THE CARS AT BUD DAVIS AND THIS WASN'T THE ONLY REASON I DID NOT LIKE THE CAR. BUD DAVIS WILL SAY ANYTHING TO FREE THEMSELVES I FEEL.

We will stay with our original response

Scammed me out of 3670.32 for repairs they did not perform.Oil still leaked massively, except for the oil was now clean.Only changed my oil initially.
I took my car to Bud Davis Cadillac on Monday, March 18 because I had a bad oil leak. I initially spoke to "Mike" in the service department, but he was so rude and unprofessional that I refused him as my service advisor, submitted a complaint about his rudeness, and ended up with Tony as my advisor.

Tony presented me with a handwritten estimate. This was before the technician had arrived so I was confused as to how he came up with this list of needed repairs. He told me that he would call me after the tech looked at my vehicle to confirm needed repairs, and that it would be "a couple of days before they could look at it". I was okay with this because they provided me with a loaner car.

By Thursday, March 21 I hadn't heard from Tony or anyone else from Bud Davis Cadillac, so I called and asked Tony if they'd looked at my car and what did they find. He told me that the tech didn't tell him anything so "I guess he didn't find anything else". I asked Tony why didn't he call me to inform. He claims he didn't remember telling me that...Final cost was $3670.32. I picked my car up on Friday, March 22.

About 2 hours after I got home, I noticed a large amount of oil leaking on my garage floor. So, Monday morning, March 25, I was back at Bud Davis Cadillac. I showed Tony the picture I had taken of the oil leaking on my garage floor, and asked him if they REALLY did any of these listed repairs to my car? I told him that absolutely nothing had changed about my initial issue with my oil leak, except that now the oil was clean - so obviously they did change the oil. He just said "it shouldn't be leaking". They kept my car again and I was in another loaner.

On Thursday, March 28, I finally hear from them. Tony told me that the oil pan was leaking and my car was ready. After all of that work that they CLAIMED to have done on my car the 1st week, you mean to tell me that they CLAIM TO HAVE changed the oil pan gasket, changed the oil, rear main seal, etc., but didn't notice that the oil pan itself "had a crack down the side of the pan around the middle section..."? I don't believe they did ANY of those repairs. Why wasn't this oil pan the FIRST thing they checked? All of the other repairs that they claim they did was probably not even necessary - even though there is absolutely no evidence that they even performed the listed repairs, especially since absolutely nothing about my initial complaint had changed. The puddle of oil that leaked on my garage floor was clean oil, so I really believe that they ONLY changed the oil and scammed me out of $3670.32. You'd have to be completely incompetent to have done all of that work at and around the oil pan, but not notice the large amount of oil leaking from the oil pan itself. I would have been better off taking my car to a shade tree mechanic. Bud Davis Cadillac was more concerned about washing my car than they were about making sure that the repairs were done. I can't believe that NOBODY checked to make sure my car wasn't leaking oil anymore before giving it back to me.

They also put a dent in the hood of my vehicle. They claimed to have fixed it, BUT it's still there. They made it less noticeable, but it's definitely still visible.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund on the unnecessary repairs that they claim to have done on my vehicle. Bud Davis Cadillac throwing parts at my vehicle without assessing it should not be done at my expense. I was specific about the bad oil leak when I arrived at the service department. For Tony to provide me with a handwritten estimate prior to the tech even arriving to work to assess my vehicle was confusing, and is unacceptable. You cannot just "guess" about what the issue is and start replacing parts without investigating the issue. It was evident that my car had not been properly assessed because it continued to leak massive amounts of oil, except that after they were done, the oil on the garage floor was clean - which apparently means that they, at least, changed the oil. Replacing the oil pan and oil pan gasket should have been the only thing they charged me for. Their failure to assess my vehicle prior to replacing parts (which I don't believe they actually did) should not be at my expense.

Landers Cadillac Of Memphis Response • Apr 09, 2019

We have reviewed *** complaint and interviewed the technician, service advisor and service manager, that were involved. After the technician inspected the vehicle, he provided the service advisor with an estimate to replace the valve cover gaskets, the front timing cover gasket, the rear main seal and reseal the oil pan (RO#781734, 3/18/19). According to the technician, the heads and engine block were completely covered in black sludge and old oil. If the oil pan was cracked, at that time, it would have been difficult to see. It is possible, the technician overlooked the crack. Fortunately, we are still in possession of the cracked oil pan and we were able to inspect it.
When the vehicle returned with the oil leak (RO#782100 3/25/19), the service manager decided that Bud Davis should replace the oil pan, at no charge to the customer, because it may have been missed.
We can assure you, there were numerous leaks present, when the vehicle came in on 3/25/2019, and the leaks that were recommended, were repaired. If she would like to bring the vehicle back in, the service manager, would be happy to inspect the vehicle with *** and show her what seals were replaced. The service advisor also made a note, on the back of the repair order, that these repairs were a place to start, because of the amount of oil on the outside of the engine.
As far as, the dent in the hood, we did have it repaired at no charge to the customer. If she is not happy with the repair, we can send it back the repair facility and see if they can improve the repair.

Customer Response • Apr 12, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I reject this response from Bud Davis Cadillac because it is not truthful. I have attached a picture that I took of the handwritten "estimate" that was in Tony's hand. He provided me with this at 0730 am on March 18, before the technician had even arrived to work. I never received a call from him confirming the actual needed repairs. I also have attached a picture of the oil leaking on my garage floor. This picture was taken on March 22, AFTER they claim to have repaired my vehicle. Bud Davis Cadillac stated in their response that "We can assure you, there were numerous leaks present, when the vehicle came in on 3/25/2019". This is true, and the picture is evidence. Please note that 3/25/2019 was the date that I RETURNED my vehicle to Bud Davis Cadillac because of the continued oil leak as seen in the picture that I took on 3/22/2019 AFTER they claim to have repaired it. They claim to have "missed" the oil pan leak. If this is true, why is it listed on the final bill that they provided to me when I picked up my vehicle on 3/22/2019? They added this issue on 3/18/2019, according to the bill. I have attached that picture and underlined where they claimed that the oil pan was leaking on 3/18/2019. However, now they're claiming to have not realized that the oil pan was leaking until I returned to them on 3/25/2019. Make it make sense. They're being dishonest. Also, the dent in my hood was, and is expected to have been repaired at no cost to me, especially SINCE THEY ARE THE ONES WHO PUT IT THERE. I have absolutely no further trust in Bud Davis Cadillac with my vehicle. I took it to them for repairs, that they did not perform, and additionally, they caused damage to the hood of my vehicle.

Landers Cadillac Of Memphis Response • Apr 16, 2019

First, I would like to apologize, in the previous response, I said "We can assure you, there were numerous oil leaks present, when the vehicle came in on 3/25/2019". I made a mistake and listed 3/25/2019, it should have read "We can assure you, there were numerous oil leaks present, when the vehicle came in on 3/18/2019".
On the morning of 3/18/19, we put the vehicle into the air and inspected where the oil was coming from. There were numerous oil leaks present and the entire engine was covered in oil. The service advisors have the ability to look up estimates for repairs, using our Service Pricing Guide through our *** computer system. By doing this, we would be able to get a prior approval from the customer, so they could use one of our loaner cars. Without the prior approval, they would not be able utilize our courtesy transportation vehicles, per our company policy.
On repair order *** dated 3/18/19, it was necessary to "reseal the valve covers, rear main seal, oil pan and front timing cover". We did not replace the oil pan, we resealed it.
On repair order*** dated 3/25/19, we found the crack and replaced the oil pan, at no charge to the customer. Like I said in the previous response, it is possible that we overlooked the crack, and that is why we made this decision.
Again, we did do the repairs that were found on RO*** and would be willing to inspect the vehicle with the owner present and show them they were completed.
We, as a company, apologize for any inconvenience they experienced. We admit when we see something that was not performed correctly or when mistakes are made. We would not have been in business for 44 years, if we were dishonest. We took responsibility for the cracked oil pan, as well as, the dent in the hood.

Repair, warranty and cost
We noticed a small leak under our 2011 Cadillac Escalade truck and took it back to Bud Davis for inspection as we thought that it was an issue with a recent oil change. It took two additional visits before they were able to identify the problem, which was a differential axel leak on the driver side. The repair technician advised it would be better to fix both sides and replace the seals ... which we did for a cost of around $850. Recently we noticed, that there was a lead in the same place (less than 2,000 miles post the initial repair). Therefore, we took it back for inspection again. At this time, we were advised that it's now an internal issue on the passenger side now and that that will cost us $2k. We did not agree with the diagnosis or cost, so we took to it another repair shop to get an second opinion. This repair shop agreed that that it appeared that the passenger side was either never repaired or repaired incorrectly as its leaking down to the plug. Also, if it was an internal issue the gears inside would not be moving at all. With that being said, I don't have any confidence in what we are being told regarding the issue and the high cost of the additional repair.

Desired Outcome

The resolution I'm seeking is to have the repair we paid for completed correctly.

Landers Cadillac Of Memphis Response

On 1-24-17, the vehicle was in for an oil change. 66534 miles.
On 4-14-17, the vehicle was brought in to check for a leak. No leaks were seen at this time. 67242 miles.
On 7-19-17, we found left front axle seal leaking, and the right front seal seeping. We replaced both seals at a cost of $874.18 parts and labor-68808 miles. No other issues were found, at this time, to suggest repairing anything other than the seals on the front
differential.
On 9-09-17, the vehicle came in for an oil change, no leak concerns. 70091 miles.
On 11-09-17, The customer brought in the vehicle to check for a leak. We found the left front axle seal leaking, and were able to determine the seal failure was due to excessive movement of the axle shaft. After performing a cost analysis, we recommended replacing the front differential assembly instead of repairing the unit. The remanufactured replacement assembly comes with a 3 year, 100000 mile warranty and the costs would be approximately $
2893.77 parts labor and taxes. Repairing the original assembly, at an estimated cost of $3800.00(depending on extent of worn parts found during tear down and inspection), only comes with a 12 month warranty.
We did the original repairs so as not to charge for unnecessary work. The original money spent would be deducted from any further repairs done.

The vehicle has not been repaired and Bud Davis was paid based on what advised.
I would like to get assistance with the service I have been provide by Bud Davis Cadillac ***. I own a 2000 Cadillac Deville, my initial visit was on 5/08/2017 when I took the vehicle in due to car overheating. At that time I was paying for a full checkup/ head testing to tell exactly what the issue was with my vehicle. Bud Davis advise me that the car needed a water pump. I and my fiancée discuss it and we went forward with getting the repairs done which the cost was $1,194.27 invoice#***. The vehicle ran smoothly and then we began to have the same issues and had the car towed to our home on June 21st, at that time we contacted advisor Chad left voicemail, after no return call callback to service line and then they connect call directly to Chad, he advise to bring the vehicle back in. We drop the car off on June 26th. The next day was advised the issue after another head testing that the problem was it needed a radiator issue and there was no problem with the motor. At that time we agreed to have the car repaired and the cost was quoted $825. I picked up the car on June 30th, approx. time 11:27 am and after driving approx. 5.3 miles the temp gauge began to rise over half. My fiancée advise me to take the car back to Bud Davis. At that time the Advisor Mike stated that he would have them to look at car due to it may take over 30 minutes I was put into a loaner vehicle. Later that afternoon Mike callback stated that after testing driving the mechanic return stated the fluid was leaking and needed to replace the cap on the new installed radiator will callback once it was done. Then Mike callback stated that the car will not be ready till July 1st. We didn't receive any call that on July 1st to pick up car. On Monday July 3rd we called and Mike stated he thought we had already gotten the car. He would call us back, when he call back he stated the mechanic wasn't available and no note to if the car was ready. So on precaution he didn't want to return the vehicle advice to keep loaner till July 5th until mechanic returns due to holiday.
On July 5th received call from Mike and was advised after several test drive that it was possible head gasket blown but the test didn't read positive. The car has never done any leaking, even when the initial service was done & also 2nd visit. Advisor Mike then callback and said need replacement motor and it approx. cost $8000 with labor. Advised Mike at that time if this was the issue why did you all say a radiator that we have just spent $2000 in a month on repairs based on exactly the issues you all stated was the reason for car overheating. Now I'm advised to come get my vehicle and the issue is still the same and I can't afford to pay $8000+ on repairs, this appears to be a ripe off and now my car still not repaired and I just threw away $2000 when I could have not had the vehicle repair if was advise motor issues. I can't afford to give Bud Davis Cadillac any more money for repairs. I reaching out for assistance so that I would not need to seek any legal advise in this problem.

Desired Outcome

If the Bud Davis is not willing to repair my car and I believe they are the one who done the additional damage to my car with the motor, I would want a refund for both my repairs the initial $1194.27 and $816.90. I agreed to pay repairs based off what was told to me and then to say after I have paid my hard working money its the motor is a total ripe off. I'm now without a vehicle for transportation to work and money. The vehicle defiantly did not have this issue when brought to them.

Landers Cadillac Of Memphis Response

My service manager has been in contact with the customer. As a goodwill gesture, If he decides not to do anything further to the car, we are willing to refund $700 plus taxes of the money he has spent so far. Everything we have done to the car would have had to be done even if he replaces the engine, which we do not recommend because of the value of the vehicle would still be lower than the repair costs.
