On 3/23/20 My International Prostar was towed to this location. It was hooked up to a computer that read the problem. I left the shop to find a place to sleep for the night. At 9:00pm this night they called to say my truck was ready. The mechanic told me he test drove it for 25 miles and asked if I was "happy with it?". My response was "yes if it is fixed."

I picked up my International the next morning and asked the service representive as I was paying the bill "Will this happen again?". The gentleman behind the counter told me straight out " the throwout barring was installed incorrectly and it should not happen again". That was all that was ever said or commincated to me.

That day I had to get my truck towed again in Cinncinnati, OH. The throwout barring that they took out and "installed correctly" broke again. Basically all the work I paid for , which was just labor because no new parts were installed, broke again.

As my truck was once again hooked up to a computer I called the shop manager, ***, to tell him that they did not fix my truck. The work they did was worthless and incorrect. He told me he would refund my money after he talks to the mechanic and sees the work invoice from the International dealer that is doing the work now to make sure it is the same problem, if so he will refund my money. Four days later on Tuesday I got ahold of him and he told me he would call me back at noon to get this problem resolved. No phone call. I had been calling since Friday to get ahold of him. Wednesday morning (4/1/20) I spoke to a Sonya Davis. Told her the situation. She told me she would look into it and call me back. She did and told me "there was nothing they could do". When the mechanic asked me if I was happy and I replied if it was fixed he told me "could or could not last the life of the clutch" on 3/23/20 that evening when he called . I would never have agreed to be happy with a job that was not done correctly. I never said I was happy with a job that "could or could not be fixed". They did nothing to my truck but put together a broken throwout barring, which it broked because of the real problem which they did not fix.

As I am writing this complaint on 4/2/20 my Internation is still in the shop at the International dealership. I can and will provide the invoice work that is being done on my truck as the total amount to it being fixed correctly is 4 times as much as this dealership. The shop in Cinncinatti OH is replacing my clutch, throwout barring, and the fork which holds the barring. That is a huge difference in repairs and should easily show that this shop in Knoxville did a bandaid fix to a problem that needed surgery.

The work Landmark Trucks did incomplete. They did nothing to fix my truck and charged my labor for no fix. I want my money back. They didnt do thier job. I would never agree to half *** work. I have lost so much revenue because of them not fixing my truck correctly to begin with and feel they are in the wrong and should make things right, beacause their mechanic did not the job right.

Desired Outcome

I want a full refund, which is $759.84. I feel they should also pay my second towing bill since I would never have had to pay it if they did the work correctly. That towing bill was $300 .

Mr. on 03/23/2020 had his 2009 International Prostar with 1,037,329 miles on it towed into our shop in Knoxville, TN for issues. Upon initial diagnostic it was found that the throwout bearing was installed incorrectly by another party. Our service advisor notified Mr *** of this and strongly recommended that Landmark investigate further for additional damage and issues as progressive damage to the incorrect installation of the throwout bearing. Mr. declined allowing us to investigate further stating that he was in a hurry and to fix the throw out bearing. As noted in the email dated on March 30, XXXX X:XXPM from *** Service Advisor attached.
This is a highly unfortunate situation for Mr *** and we wish he would have listened to Mr Davis' recommendation and had the repair investigated further at our facility. He most likely would have had to purchase a clutch from us instead of from *88 in .

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The service advisor never spoke to me about "investigating further for additional damage". AS stated before I had my truck towed in around 3:30pm and was told they could not look at until later that evening. I had a family member who lives by pick me up and stayed with them while my truck was suppose to be fixed. At 9:30 that night I was called and told my truck was ready. That the mechanic "drove it 25 miles and was I happy?" As stated I said "yes if it is fixed. I never said I was in a "hurry" Yes I was under a load and if need be the next day and my truck would take awhile to fix I could and would have easily rented a truck in Knoxville to deliver my load even if late and return to the area when the work was complete. Just has I had to do in OH.

My actions can back up my statements easily as there is no other proof other than their word against mine. There is no documention on my invoice stating that I did not want to have my truck "investigated". Why would I refuse to have my truck fixed correctly when I had family I could stay with or I could easily have rented a truck until my truck was finished. It wouldnt have been the first time I would have done so. Instead of being told my truck was ready less than 8 hours of having it towed in and continue the next day down the road with a truck not serviced as instructed, have to pay another towing bill, get stuck with no family in town over the weekend, have to rent a car and motel room from March 25 th till April 3rd. As you can see I had no problems paying a bill 4 times greater so I could have my truck run properly like I excepected Landmark to do so in the first place.

IF you viewed the attached email that we provided dated before your complaint was filed. It described the communication between you and our service advisor. We performed the work that was outlined in the repair order and you left our business in operating order. There was not any misleading or misconduct on any representative of Landmark. Please keep in mind that we are a repair shop and to have actions to avoid the sale of a repair is unheard of. I assure you that if we found your clutch to be bad and you wanted us to replace it we would. Landmarks shop is focused on getting the repair right the first time. Turning down an additional $2400 in work and sales to push a truck out the door would be uncharacteristic of us. I again empathise with you regarding the costs to maintain your vehicle. I do not see where Landmark is a fault or did not perform the work we charged you for. If anything Landmark lost a sale on a clutch repair.

On 6/23/18 thru 7/6/18, my 2010 International Prostar truck was in their shop for engine
repairs. On 7/6/18, I took back possession of the vehicle. I was told at the time that there was a warranty of 12 mths on parts and labor. I drove the vehicle approximately
100 miles when I noticed a problem with a loud engine noise and the "check engine" light
came on. When I got back to my home, I took the vehicle into the local International
Dealer for more service. The truck was there from 7/13-19/18 and was determined that it
needed VGT calibration as well as a new ERG valve gasket. The VGT calibration as well as
the EGR gasket was done/replaced at Landmark Trucks. The bill for repairs was $790.44 as
estimated. Upon conference with *** Landmark Trucks Service Mgr., he agreed to pay
for the repair on the valve gasket in the amount of $287.00. He stated that the VGT calibration was done at his location and road tested positive with no defect codes. There
fore, he would not warranty the additional EGR calibration. It amazing his calibration
only lasted approximately 100 miles.
Product_Or_Service: Repairs
Order_Number: XXXXX

Desired Outcome

Refund I think Landmark Trucks should pay the additional cost of the EGR Calibration under their warranty as stated when I took back possession of the vehicle. Therefore, I am requesting they reimburse me the $496.45 of calibration.

Landmark Trucks, LLC, believes the charges to custmer were legitimate and fair. Enclosed we have provided the Health Report on customer vehicle before and after our repair. The engine check light did not come on after our repairs.

We filed for warranty and provided warranty for anything that was warrantable. The problem he experienced after leaving our facility was not relate to our repair The dealer correcting his second problem should have filed for warranty.

Our Service Director, *** , did speak with Mr. concerning this situation and Mr. said he understood and appreciated *** time and explanation. We are very surprised the complaint was filed.

Again, we strongly believe Landmark was fair and treated this customer with honesty and integrity. We will not issue a refund for work we performed correctly.

I do not agree with Landmark's response. When I paid their bill, I was given a verbal express warranty of 12 months parts and labor. Their response
ignored their stated warranty. Both defects found in Lynchburg, Va. should have been covered. But, they only covered the gasket that was found to be leaking and not the recalibration of the VGT. The road test they did might not have found the problem but my road test did within 300 miles.
I believe there is a violation of the Federal Magnuson - Moss Warranty Act on the part of Landmark in this case because it meets the exception
outlined in the act.
