Review: On 9/11/2014 the company (Lane Appliance Service) charged $95 plus tax to access a refrigerator repair (which was paid), and I was quoted a price of in the area of $178.00 for the repair to be done. A few days later the repair was done and the landlord paid the $178.00. A few day later, I realized the refrigerator was still not working, and called the company back, and they sent a tech out on 9/17/2014. He realized the part that was installed was not the problem. He did refund the $95.00 plus tax (initial accessment fee). He then took back the part which we paid for and the second receipt I was given, which was for the part installed. The company now has the part and is holding onto the $178.00. We now have no refrigerator, but the company now has the part and the $178.00. I'm not sure of the exact amount of the part, due to the fact the tech took back the second receipt for the part.Desired Settlement: A refund of either cash/check for the part we paid for. They currently have the part we paid for and took back.

Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this customer's complaint. The technician did go out to this customer's home and diagnosis the refrigerator as needing a compressor relay, which he felt would solve the problem of it not running at all, a dead unit. However, we quoted a repair estimate of 205.00, not 178.00, like the customer stated. I have a receipt stating that.

On 09/11/14 was our first visit.The Tech installed the relay, and then the customer told the tech. he only had $90.00. My Tech took the 90.00, even though it did not meet our minimum of 95.00 plus tax for our minimum service call, and diagnosis. That amount includes labor, and if the call is more then 95.00, the 95.00 goes towards the final bill. But to go into any home, our minimum is 95.00 plus tax. Customer knew this, I had told him before going there on the phone when he first called me. He should have had the correct amount owed to us, but he didn't. The refrigerator was running with this part my tech installed. The tech took out the part, and told the customer to call us when he had the money to pay for this repair.

On 09/15/14 the tech went there and installed the compressor relay, and unit was running fine. He paid us an additional 115.00., for a total of 205.00.

Customer called us 09/16/14 and said the unit was not cold. The tech went there [third trip] and told the customer that he had a bad compressor. This was undiagnosable unless it was running, which it wasn't when we first went there. The customer declined to have the compressor replaced. He wanted his money back. The tech gave him back all the money except the 95.00 plus tax owed to us for the initial service call. tech took our part out. He didn't pay for the part, he wanted his money back. All he paid was the service call and diagnosis, which he would have paid anyway, even if we just went there and diagnosed his problem, and didn't do all that we did.

He doesn't understand that he did not pay for the part, because he asked for his money back, so we gave him his money back, just like he requested. He has called me at least 10 times for his part.

We will be glad to give him the part, but he has to pays for it, which he hasn't.

Review: I contacted this company on two separate occasions to repair my refrigerator, which wasn't cooling properly. The first person came on 7/9/13 and temporarily repaired it. He stated that if this incident happened again in a week or two then it was another part, and my initial payment would count toward the cost of the second visit. My refrigerator broke again with the same issue. Someone came out two days later with the anticipated part, though told me another part was required and it would take more time. Two days later, I contacted the company after not hearing from them, to which they stated, "I'm sorry, I didn't have time to call you back and set up an appointment." It couldn't be done that day, and I had to wait 8 days in total for the second visit. After the second visit on 7/29/13 (and extra charge for his time, which was not my fault in the first place due to his lack of identifying a second faulty part), I noticed that the ice dispenser wasn't working properly (which was not an issue before the technician visited). I made an appointment, someone came out today to look at it and stated it would cost me $300 to repair (despite the fact that it broke right after the last technician "repaired" my fridge). I said no thanks, but after he left on this visit I found that my water dispenser was now broken which, again, WAS NOT BROKEN BEFORE HE VISITED MY CONDO. I called to resolve the matter and shared my frustrations with the technician. I asked if he thought it was a coincidence that the refrigerator broke each time after the last two visits from his company, at which time he laughed and seemed to care less about my unresolved issue. I am extremely frustrated with the high cost and lack of repairs. I should have purchased a new refrigerator in the first place to avoid all this frustration and highly regret my decision to contact this company.
