After quoting me a cost in writing and over the phone of $148.10 for three tooth fillings, the firm is now trying to charge me $732 for same services.On October 8, 2013, I went to Dr. [redacted] at Lane & Associates for a routine cleaning and exam. At that time, she identified some cavities and recommended they be filled. I made an appointment for 10/31/13 to fill three cavities, and was told in writing on that date that the total fee for service would be $148.10.The day prior to my appointment, a representative from Lane & Associates called to confirm my appointment time and total charges, which she said would be $148.10. However, after the appointment, I was told by the office staff that charges would now be $732. I spoke with [redacted] the office manager for Lane & Associates, who confirmed that someone at Lane & Associates had made a mistake in calculating my cost for the services. She apologized and told me she would bring the disputed charges to her manager to see if there was anything the firm could do. I used my credit card to pay the $148.10 that I'd agreed to in advance and left feeling as though the erroneous extra charges would be dropped from my account.Immediately after my appointment, I began to experience severe jaw pain, which I believe to be a direct result of the treatment I received at Lane & Associates. After a week of severe pain, I made a follow-up appointment with the same doctor. She prescribed me with muscle relaxers and told me to come back in three weeks. Three weeks later, I returned for my second follow-up appointment. I was still experiencing jaw pain (as I do to this day), so my doctor referred me to an oral surgeon. Because I'd not yet heard from [redacted] regarding my outstanding bill, though she'd told me she'd follow up within a week, I decided to speak with her in person at that time. I was told again by [redacted] that Lane & Associates admits the staff there made a billing error, but that I would still be charged a total of $732, which leaves my account with an outstanding balance of &590.82. Additionally, [redacted] told me that while the erroneous charges would likely be dropped at a smaller dental practice, Lane & Associates is too big to make changes to its corporate policy.I will pursue a solution for the unnecessary physical pain caused by Dr. [redacted] in another way; however, I hope to resolve the bill dispute through this complaint and a subsequent letter I've sent to Lane & Associates. My desired settlement is to have the outstanding $590.82 removed from my account. Because Lane & Associates has admitted full blame for this billing mistake, I do not think I should be monetarily penalized for the firm's mistake.Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter.
