Scam Artist Do not Trust her and her false statements
Lane Rae Beagles Legal name Alayne Rae Mullen previously in Virgina, now located in Archer, FL does not want to return our money that we agreed upon in a contract. She sold us a sick puppy named Henry on 5/24/2020 who was about 7 weeks and 5 days at the time of pick up. I took him to the Vet on 5/30/2020 where we were told he had a upper respiratory issue and had stool tested for hookworms. The test came back and he was positive for hookworms on 6/21/2020. I was devastated as I have two small children ages 2 and 4 and hookworms are contagious. The vet a the humane society was very concerned for our health. I contacted Lane Rae Beagles out of concern that she sold a litter of sick puppies with hookworms to myself and other families. As hookworms are passed down usually to puppies via breast milk through mom and or will live in the soil and if so she must treat both so that other puppies/dogs do not have to suffer. We have had to pay Vet bills of a total of $ 191. We decided to take a heartbreaking decision as a family and returned Henry on 6/23/2020 to her in a public place as the vet bills and sick puppy were a huge concern this all happened in the first month of having him. She claims Henry was a pure Breed and parents were show dogs. Show Dogs must be in good health! We have suffered emotional distress because of this breeder and her scam of selling sick puppies. She is selling sick puppies, when she should be honest about health issues to purchasers. Alayne is now not even returning back our original purchase amount of $1500. Because she claimed she had to get another health certificate. Which she probably writes off on her "taxes" as a business expense. She probably sold the puppy for more money as her website shows prices of $1800 as of July 2020. She now emailed us saying her husband may not want to return the money. We never spoke to her husband or dealt with him at all. She is now trying to wipe her hands and pass us along to her husband. She is ignoring our emails. I do not want to call because I rather have a paper trial and proof. I have reported her to the authorities. Lane Rae Beagles has had multiple complaints from other buyers. Don't buy into her phony slogan all she cares about is the money. Especially during covid-19 where families are looking for companionship. I have proof because that's what small claims court wants. Proof not just words.

Desired Resolution / Outcome
Return our Money and stop selling sick puppies.

Dear Mrs. Wong,

This puppy was examined by my vet, had a negative fecal result, was healthy and was issued a health certificate by my veterinarian only 2 days before your family visited us at my home to inspect the puppy and purchase him. Though I offered previously to take him back and did offer a refund (against my contract), you insisted on keeping him until I became seriously worried about his health and insisted that he be returned. He was returned 29 days after his initial purchase, was issued another health certificate with negative fecal result on day 33 after purchase.

Your refund was not available until after the trial period on the puppy was completed and before that time you have taken measures against me that are uncalled for. I have turned this case over to my attorney.

We purchased our beagle puppy on Aug.17, 2019 after doing some online research and speaking on the phone with Alayne. We had some health issues with our last beagle so health history and clean bloodlines were very important to us. My puppy started coughing almost from the beginning. I took him to our vet at 5 days after we received him. He had tonsillitis and hookworm. I texted Alayne at every vet visit. I had to take him back to the vet again 5 days later as the cough continues. He was found with bronchitis and a severe case of ear mites. In less than 2 weeks I have vet bills totaling $900 and there are more to come. Alayne led us to believe that this was one of her puppies but the night before we went to pick him up, she mentioned that she had gotten this dog and his sister from a breeder friend in Ky or Tenn. She raves about their long history and she knew first hand 4 generations of his bloodlines. She said she was going to use these dogs as ‘her’ show dogs but now she says “I was just helping out a friend”. She was a middle man and nothing more? She never said anything to us about this supposed situation. We received no official Florida health form as required by law. And she did not provide any vaccination records signed off by a vet. She gave me her vets name and number to get the health information but when I spoke to them, they couldn’t provide me with anything! Now she says the dog was seen by a vet in Ky and they don’t require the health form. But Florida does when a dog crosses state lines for sale which is her story now. Do not trust Lane Rae Beagles in Gainesville, Florida!

During our conversation I made it clear that this puppy was NOT from my kennel or from my breeding and that a close friend of mine had produced the puppy. Two puppies were brought down from the breeders family for me to evaluate. One was not competition and breeding quality and so instead of them incurring more transport fees and putting the puppy through more stress they asked if I would be willing to find a family for the puppy on their behalf and return that money to them. I agreed. I did explain that this puppy was not of my breeding, that I was losing money doing this for them but it was the best for the puppy. You were not happy with the standard health guarantee they offered and so I offered to cover this puppy fully under MY guarantee out of kindness. Again, Florida is notorious for hookworms as it is resistant to all dewormers being used and puppies CAN get ill. This puppy did have a full exam, negative fecal result, was dewormed at my vets office, was in good health and issued a health certificate. There is only so much I can be responsible for after a puppy joins a new family.

Can you please email me tennismom I had the same problem with Alayne.

Review: Hi - We put a deposit for a Beagle puppy from Lane Rae Beagles. We were told that the puppy will be delivered around May 15th and was asked to provide a deposit of 250 dollars. We send in the deposit through [redacted] as requested and was waiting for the puppy.

Suddenly a few weeks back Miss Alayne told us that she cant make the delivery and would return the deposit. After repeated request our deposit has not been returned. She has also not provide any means of communication and have not returned email inquiring about the refund.

At this point we would just like the refund ASAPDesired Settlement: At this point we would just like the refund ASAP

Response:

This person submitted a deposit for a Beagle puppy as a pet and was found with Beagle puppies for sale on his [redacted] page and listed on the Beagle Breeders of Ecuador page. I am having show enthusiasts in Ecuador look into this further for me and tell me if this person is indeed a breeder. I require a $250 deposit, he submitted an amount under $250 but if we find he is not a breeder or associated with a breeder we will happy refund his "deposit". Alayne Mullen

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The business is making false accusations about me being a breeder. I have repeatedly asked for the links or a phone number of the website she is talking about but she has not provided any proof of that. The business has been making false excuses instead of providing some facts such as "She is buying house and is very busy"/ "she is travelling a lot and not able to get to emails"/ "she is refunding all the money with other buyers as well" etc etc. I have the proof of all the emails if you would like. I did send her a 250 dollar deposit through [redacted] and I have proof of that as well.

Response:

[redacted]I am occasionally approached by breeders of other countries that own puppy mills or less than ethical breeding programs. It is my priority to ensure that all of my puppies are placed in loving family companion homes that will neuter them or with show homes that will care for them properly and obtain titles. Initially you contacted me from one address, told me you moved to another, had a third party contact me for delivery and had a fourth contact through an email. This seemed less than honest to me and red flags began to appear. All of my litters are my property until I decide, as their owner, who is a suitable home and who is not and as an upstanding breeding it is my responsibility to ensure all families are honest and not looking for breeding prospects for full or mixed breed puppies. I have found what I have found on [redacted] and on the Ecuador Beagle breeders list, I have hired someone in Ecuador to look into the matter further and I am waiting to hear back from him. The puppy you reserved is still here, as you had paid a deposit on it, but at this point he is no longer available to you and I will refund your money no later than the 10th of June.Alayne Mullen

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I am really not sure what you mean by this. you are questioning my integrity and that's outrageous."Initially you contacted me from one address, told me you moved to another, had a third party contact me for delivery and had a fourth contact through an email. This seemed less than honest to me and red flags began to appear."I never contacted you from different addresses. I have all the emails for Proof if you want it. I had doubts as soon on your behavior when you did'nt not call and neither gave your number to talk things out neither have you provided any evidence that you found my [redacted] account and all the rubbish that you are stating below. Alo I knew that you have the puppies and may be collecting more money from other gullible customers like me to gather more money and cook up some story."I have found what I have found on [redacted] and on the Ecuador Beagle breeders list, I have hired someone in Ecuador to look into the matter further and I am waiting to hear back from him."I do not trust any word of what you say and want my money with 3 days. I wont be waiting for June 10th as its too late. I paid you the money in April and its already 1 more than 1 month sitting in your account. Please return my advance.

Five people that know you did not vouch for you. One stating that you were a puppy mill. I do not sell to puppy mills or breeders that do not support their breed by doing health clearances and participating in competitions.
