Lanes Contracting Inc replaced my roof fall of 2014 and my roof is leaking and they are unresponsive regarding fixing leak.My roof was replaced fall 2014 and last month I noticed that I now have a leak around the chimney. I contacted them four weeks ago and they sent an employee to my house to look at damage and promised that they would call to set up a time to have the flashing repaired around the chimney and my ceiling repainted. It has now been three weeks and I have attempted to email, and call and have gotten no response from the company. I am assuming that they are refusing to stand by their 10 year warranty. Desired SettlementI would either like for the flashing to be repaired around the chimney and my ceiling repainted, or reimburse me to have another company take care of the problem. Business Response Contact Name and Title:[redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]The customer has been contacted as of today's date. We scheduled her for the morning of November 25th for her roof leak to be fixed. We will do our upmost to make the customer happy.

Had all new Windows installed and it's been done improperly. Job never completed. After many attempts to contact and rectify the situation they no longer accept calls. Windows aren't installed properly. They haven't been adjusted and some need to be re-ordered and reinstalled. They left 1-2 inch nails all over the floors inside, furniture not moved back after rooms were moved around for install. Ordered in November and last contact was March. Ridiculous wait time and run around. Desired SettlementDue to their lack of integrity and quality work, we'd like a refund so we can have the Windows replaced and installed as needed. His company has shown zero efforts to make this situation good and has cost us an increase in heather and air bills as well as the need for space heaters. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@yahoo.comWe have been in contact with Mr. [redacted] regarding the windows. Our last conversation with Mr. [redacted] in September we agreed to void the balance due of $2600 and agreed the job was finished. We have spoken with Mr. [redacted] on 12/10/15 after receiving the complaint and have agreed to meet with him. There was a misunderstanding. We will meet with him on the 18th to resolve all issues.Mr. [redacted] agreed that they would report that we are working together to resolve this situation.Consumer Response We were contacted by Lane contracting on 12/10/15. There was never an agreement to void a balance. We were withholding payment until our installation were completed and resolved. At this point he has agreed to meet and do a walk through on the 18th.. Final Consumer Response The company made good on heir word and came and made ALL repairs that were necessary. Glad to finally have everything as we ordered it. All communication was followed up by the owner and employees. There were internal changes that had messed up communications between owner and myself. Thank you for rectifying the situation. Final Business Response After meeting with the [redacted] Lane's was giving a list of complaints or punch list in which we were glad to be able to finish job to their satisfaction. There was a misunderstanding between both parties on the job but Lane's takes full responsibility and always wants a satisfied customer.

During Roof Replacement my gutters were damaged. Although I have had many promises the repairs have not yet been made several months later. After being contacted at my home by a sales representative and promised that everything would be covered by the insurance, I entered into an agreement with Lane's Contracting to have my roof and windows replaced. After SEVERAL weeks of confusion and broken promises, I received my roof but no windows. While installing the new roof (which I have to admit looks very nice) the workers broke the main gutter in front of my garage. After complaints and weeks of calls back and forth, I was given a discount, promised that BOTH front gutters on the home and the wood behind them would be replaced with better quality than I had originally installed, and told that if I made the final payment for the roof (which I was withholding because they had not completed the gutter repair) they would schedule the repairs to be made the following week. I authorized the payment and here I am over 1 year later, after several more calls and promises, still with no repairs. The snow, ice and large amounts of rain we've had over the last year have made the situation worse with flooding in my front yard.Desired SettlementI would like to have the promised repairs made ASAP or be financially compensated based on estimates and be allowed to have another company complete the necessary repairs. Business Response We have contacted the customer and had the issue fixed. However I informed the customer that we did not damage the gutters but we would be happy to replace them. The gutters are plastic and were in very bad shape upon our arrival. Payment was very hard to collect from customer after roof was installed and therefore management decided that no further work would be allowed unless payment was received up front for work. Therefore, windows were not installed. We have installed a new metal seamless gutter to replace her plastic gutter that was on her garage.Consumer Response I was going to drop this issue and let it go, but I've decided to pursue it further. The company came to my home without making an appointment and with no adult present and performed work on my home. They only installed a gutter on 1/2 of the home. The other side's clip is broken, but is able to stay on. Additionally, on the side they did perform the work they installed a gutter system that doesn't have a leaf guard system (like the one previously installed). I am disabled and can not go to the roof to remove the leaves. This company continues to disappoint me. I am consulting a lawyer to pursue this matter further. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!Final Business Response Lanes Contracting helped Ms. [redacted] have her roof replaced due to damage it had sustained from storms. Ms. [redacted]'s homeowners insurance covered the total cost of replacing her roof leaving her with little to no out of pocket expense. Ms. [redacted] contacted us after the installation saying that her plastic gutters that were old and brittle had been damaged. Upon reviewing the job and pictures of the job and a site visit, we determined that Lanes did not damage the gutters. We made several attempts to contact her, left voice messages to resolve the situation. We then received a Revdex.com complaint and was able to resolve the issue to Ms. [redacted]'s satisfaction by replacing Ms. [redacted]'s plastic gutter on her garage with a seamless aluminum gutter to her satisfaction which was confirmed during a phone conversation that she was happy and satisfied. Case was closed. Five months later Ms. [redacted] has once again contacted the Revdex.com without once calling Lanes Contracting. We strive to make each and every customer satisfied and will continue to do so.

A higher amount was charged from what was listed on Work Order Invoice. One of my upstairs rooms had water marks on the ceiling and I could see rotten plywood by the vent box from the window, I also knew there was some type of issue with the chimney and informed Mr. [redacted] when he came out to do the inspection for the quote on 11/3/14. I also received emails and phone calls on Nov 5th, 12th, 20th, Dec 2014 through Jan 2015. I agreed to have work done based on work order invoice of $4200.00 without financing or $4500.00 with financing. Wording on work order: removal of old shingles, ALL rotten wood or decking, satellite dish and REPLACING ALL rotten decking (2), felt, shingles, pipe boots and box vents (1). Remove all trash & debris. With the above work order I signed a blank invoice for financing (#[redacted]). The day the shingles were replace I was informed by [redacted] phone call additional materials would be required but when I arrived home that day a portion of the over hang was only covered by felt. I was thinking they would return the next day but after 2 days without any contact - I called. [redacted] was unaware of work not finished and I received a call back from [redacted]s asking if he could come back out to explain issue. On March 5, 2015 he discussed additional damage found (R/R Fascia, soffit, rafter tails, sub fascia AND chimney issue I mentioned on day one). All of this should have been found if a proper inspection was done but I agreed to $800.00 more and signed another work order. Work appeared to be finished but satellite dish was still in yard attached to house by a wire cable and hand size debris was scattered by dish.On April 2, 2015 I received my home project [redacted] card statement and found the incorrect amount charged on March 3, 2015 of $4755.00 and the $800.00 charged on March 18, 2015. I emailed [redacted]s about this and that the issue with the satellite dish / debris still in yard. I was informed by [redacted] that the difference of $255.00 was for additional materials. NO work had been done till after I had OK the $800.00. A job that started off at $4,500.00 has turned out to be $5,555.00. I at least knew about the $800.00 but the additional $255.00 add on the original $4500.00 I had no knowledge of till I received my statement. Since April 3, they have removed the satellite dish and debris.Desired SettlementI would like to have paid only what I had originally been told it should have cost of $4500.00 but I was aware of the $800.00 additional. I want the difference of the amount charged of $255.00. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]The amount that was charged of $4755 was $255 over the original invoice amount of $4500. The additional $255 was for rotten decking (5 sheets of plywood @$45 a sheet & 30 ft of sub fascia @ $4 lf) that had to be replaced which is stated on the contract. Two sheets of plywood and 10lf of fascia and 8lf of soffit was included which is also stated in the contract. Ms. [redacted] was contacted on the day of the roof installation on March 2nd and made aware of the additional materials that were needed. Ms. [redacted] stated In her complaint that she was charged and additional $300 for a finance charge. The $300 was an upgrade from a 3-tab to an architectural shingle not a finance charge which is also stated on the contract. Once we took the roof off a significant amount of damage was found at that time that was not covered under the roof installation. We installed the roof and the owner of the company went back to discuss with Ms.[redacted] her options on further repairs. The second charge of $800 was to remove and replace an additional 100lf of fasica, 20lf of soffit, 4 rafter tails and 10lf of subfascia and also to cap the corner boards on the chimney. This damage is unforeseen until the roof is removed which was discussed with Ms.[redacted]. Upon completion of roof installation we dried in the worse part of the chimney to secure no water entry until Ms.[redacted] decided how she wanted to proceed on further repairs. Ms.[redacted] contacted our office upon receiving her charges from Wells Fargo and the additional amount of $255 for additional materials and labor was once again explained to her. Ms.[redacted] sent us an initial email stating she wanted a credit for the cost of the additional materials and labor. We responded once again that she agreed on the day of the installation to the charge for additional materials and labor but that a happy customer was in our best interest and to please call us to discuss. She then sent another email stating that she was contacting the Revdex.com and has yet to contact us to discuss resolution. As always we would like to come to a fair resolution with Ms.[redacted]; however she was not charged unfairly or overcharged which is stated on her contract which will be supplied if needed.Consumer Response Let me try and make this simple: My complaint is the contract had not been completed at the time I had signed it - Lane's entered an amount I DID NOT agree to - my copy that was given to me the day I signed the contract shows it was not completed (which I also can provide a copy of).Obviously there was a misunderstanding between me and Lane's regarding the additional materials and labor from the time I received the call and the owner coming out to have the additional invoice / contract signed. The original invoice [redacted] should have been filled out at the time of my signature for the $4500.00 I agreed to and all of the additional materials and labor should have been covered on the 2nd invoice [redacted] (also not filled out at the time of my signature, the charge of $800.00 matches the work order invoice given at the same time UNLIKE the original contract ($4755.00) and work order ($4500.00) giving us the amount I am requesting to be refunded $255.00. Final Business Response The contract clearly states that if additional plywood is needed it is $45 a sheet and if additional decking is needed it is at $4.00 a foot. This is what occurred at Ms.[redacted]'s home. You cannot estimate rotten wood to be replaced until the shingles are removed. She was made aware that there may be additional costs for rotten wood at the time she signed the contract.

I [redacted] called LANE's contracting, Incorporated on or about January 4, 2014, and requested that they handle my roofing problem, (to put on new shingles, due to a leak) I was told, that they would take care of everything, because they deal with insurance people all of the time.I then put my trust in them. I notify them when the insurance adjuster would be here, but they did not show up. The next day they came out and put a tarp on the house. At this point the insurance company was saying one thing and LANE'S contracting was saying another. So after weeks of calling another appointment was set up to inspect the roof, LANE's representative showed up late, remove the tarp, and inspected the Roof along with the insurance company. The two of them could not agree, so the insurance company sent out an engineer butLANE's contracting did not show up. After several calls by myself and the engineer we have not been able to get LANE's contracting to respond to us. I am still calling.Desired SettlementI would like for LANE' contracting, Incorporated to cancel this contract with me, and at no charge to me, so that I might employ a company to replace my shingles on the roof.I do feel that this is fair, due to all that they have put me through and the lack of response by their company.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted].comFirst Mr. [redacted] is not under a contract with us. He called us regarding a roof leak. We went out that same day and tarped his roof for him due to a leak. He later met with one of our sales reps to discuss his options. He did sign saying that he wanted Lane's to contact his insurance company regarding his roof damage. We scheduled an adjuster appointment with his homeowners insurance and met the adjuster on site. Mr. [redacted] adjuster did not find enough damage to his roof to replace the roof and would only pay for minor damage. Mr. [redacted] was not happy with that answer and had his claim escalated. Two different times we went out to meet an adjuster and to take the tarp off the roof and the adjuster did not arrive on time. Finally an engineer came out and we could not meet him on site and he refused to look under the tarp on Mr. [redacted] roof. We have spoken to Mr. [redacted] regarding repairing his roof and he does not want to pay any out of pocket expenses. Mr. [redacted] is free to contact another company to have his roof repaired. Furthermore, Mr. [redacted] has not been charged anything for any service we have extended to him thus far.

After replacement of shingles on roof and building two porches still have several places that does not have flashing and roof not tied into new porch. On June 11, 2016 Lane's crew showed up and worked removing old shingles and framing in front porch. About 4:30 was told the Crew would be back on Sunday to finish the roof and framing in the back porch. Then the vinyl and metal crew would be back the end of next week during our vacation. [redacted] the foreman said we did not need to be home. I told him that they were to be finished by June 15, 2016. He said they were behind. On June 13, 2016 I called office [redacted] said that we could reschedule in July after we return from vacation. Also notice that my roof with the new shingles had a sinking spot in it. I called the office and told them. I was told that it would be fixed at same time as metal and vinyl work.On July 8, 2016, Lane's crew showed up and removed the shingles and plywood. They saw the truss had separated and fell about 4 inches. Mr. [redacted] started the song and dance about it being a mobile home and not being put together very good. I told him that my roof did not have a sinking spot until they worked on my roof. I told him that the roofing crew stacked about 5 to six double stack of shingles in the spot that was sinking. Mr. [redacted] whined about it, I told him to fix it. It cost an extra $600 for them to fix their mistake. Then one worker stepped thru my ceiling. I wanted to have my walls sheet rocked, and I asked what would be a price and I wanted it done now. Mr. [redacted] said he would have price that afternoon. The roof was repaired and shingled but no work on finishing the porches. I showed Mr. [redacted] the issues no hurricane straps, brackets missing nails, and the roof was not tied to the porch. He said that that would be fixed. I removed paneling and installed new installation in areas that needed it. The room was ready for sheet rock on Monday. On July 11, 2016 Monday, I called Mr. [redacted] about price. It seemed a little high but the crew was there and Mr. [redacted] said the bedroom and both porches would be finished by Wednesday July 13, 2016. I told him that I had a camping trip planned for Thursday thru Saturday. Mr. [redacted] said no problem. On Tuesday July 12, 2016, the sheetrock crew said they would not finish on Wednesday. There had not been much work done on the porches so I called Mr. [redacted] got voice mail. He has not called me back. I called the office [redacted] said he was busy. I told her that the supervisor ([redacted]) didn't show up until 11am and not much work was done on porches and the bedroom was not going to make the completion date. On Wednesday July 13, the bedroom was looking good but still going to finish on Thursday July 14, 2016. [redacted] the supervisor came to work with an attitude and did not speak to me. He worked outside but, he was throwing metal and vinyl around. About half of what he put on the front look like a 5 year old put on. He ([redacted]) spent a LOT of time talking on the phone beside the highway. Again tried to call Mr. [redacted] no answer. Again called the office and told [redacted] that I did not like [redacted]'s attitude and did not want him back. Also told her that I canceled my camping trip and it cost me 32 dollars to cancel. She said she could have put off job until we got back. I said no I want this job finished. The Job was completed on Friday July 15, 2016 about 5pm. Two days pass [redacted] completion date and a month after what he promised me and my wife setting in our den. We still have holes in roof next to porch add on that is only covered by shingles that will leak during a blowing rain or snow storms. The quality of work on the two porches is poor. The crews came to job unprepared and had to call or go get material every day. The owner will not talk to customer about job and did not come to look at finished job. Also my wife spent all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday cleaning up sheetrock dust and mud from the back door to bedroom, living room, and bathroom. She even had to scrape the sheet rock mud and then wash her broom.Desired Settlementwant the roof fix and reimbursement for the cleaning. Business Response We contacted Mr.[redacted] on June 9 to see if we could start work the week of June 13. He advised us that he would not be available and asked us to wait until after July 11 as he was going to be on vacation then out of town on business. Mr. [redacted] told the office, he would contact us once he was back in town. However, it was worked out and on June 11 we went to frame the porches, and put new shingles on. Per Mr. [redacted]'s request we waited until Mr. [redacted] contacted us to begin work. At that time, he called the office upset because we had not been out there and it had been too long, but we were waiting to hear back from him as mentioned. We went out and Mr. [redacted] stated there was a dip in the roof which he had a couple of dips in the roof before it was replaced. We went to fix the dip in the roof and found that the rafters had separated from the main beam which had no bearing from us stacking shingles on the ridge or roof. While out there, Mr. [redacted] ask us to revamp his master bedroom which was the reason for the delay. We did step through the ceiling but that was a simple fix and we redid the whole ceiling at no additional charge. Lane's Contracting fulfilled our contract to the fullest. We also did additional repairs at cost or below cost to try and make Mr. [redacted] happy. We want to resolve this at the best way possible. We will reach out to Mr. [redacted] and see how he wants it resolved.Consumer Response I have waited for Lane's contracting to reach out to me, but nothing. First I've waited and waited on Lane's to do work, from the April 15, 2016 to June 9, 2016 after being promised it would be done in May. Lane's Knew about the Vacation from day one. When Lane's did show up I was told it was a three day job. They worked two days. before vacation started. I did call to get Mr. [redacted] come look at the roof THAT they damaged and the other sub par work. [redacted] and crew showed up July 8,2016. They did repair the roof but the stacking of the shingles did cause the roof to fall. Lane's contracting was the 5Th roofing contractor to give an estimate on replace the shingles. No one including Mr. [redacted] said anything about the roof being bad. Was told there was two soft spots (Bad plywood)one over the kitchen and one over the living room by 3 of the contractors. Plus I was on the roof several times before and after the estimates. NEVER seen the roof sinking until after Lane's roofing crew re-roofed the roof. The foreman ([redacted])said that Lane's would fix the roof. Mr. [redacted] told me that that the roof and the sheet rock in bedroom and the porches would be totally complete by Wednesday July 13,2016 so we could go camping on July 14,2016. They did not make it because lack of workers. The foreman did not show until 11 am. So I had to cancel camping trip. they finished Friday July 15,2016. That is the two days I want to reimbursed for not extra work but the lack of workers. Plus the lack of cleaning by the crew that was here and camping cancellation fee $32.00. Plus I want my roof repaired so rain will not blow in. Like Mr. [redacted] said it just money( as long as it is mine.)Final Business Response We have reached out to the homeowner to offer a way to resolve this issue. He is going to talk to his wife and let us know how to proceed.on 08/10/2016 Lanes contracting did call and told me how they would solve the issue. I talked to wife that night. I called back on the 08/11/16 to get an answering machine, tried several times finally left a message. I did get a call back when I was in a meeting late in the evening. I tried calling several times on the 08/12/2016, the same answering machine and again I finally left message but no call back. It seems lanes contracting really don't care if this issue is resolved due to the lack of response. This is one of the issues from day one. Very poor business practice.Lane's contracting called me on Aug 16, 2016 about fixing the problems. I told the secretary [redacted] what I wanted was the roof and porch repaired and cash to cover all the hassle and time off or the could pay a cash sum and I would get another contractor to do the repairs. then this would be over and I would clear this. [redacted] said she would tell [redacted] and they would call me back. Also told her that if they did the repairs it had to be done the week of 22 thur 26 aug. because of work and leave or they would have to wait until after Sept. 23, 2016.Did not hear from Lane's so on Aug. 22, 2016 I called Lane's and talked to [redacted] again. She said she thought that [redacted] had called me and solved the issue. I told her That No one from lane's contracting had called me. This has to be one of the worst contracting company I have every seen or dealt with. It seems That The Boss of the Company would want to solve the issue. He has not seen the completed job don't even know how sorry the workmanship is that he has working for him. I do know that if some one fails when they lean against the porch rail. Lane's contracting is the fault and will be sued.
