Our experience with Lang Builders was fantastic!! We had previously purchased land separate and the original developer told us we could not have a walk out basementWith *** Lang’s knowledge and his team working hard together they got the land graded and made the house look perfect on the build site, with a walkout basement The homes we toured with *** previous to the custom architectural design and build of our home was the reason we chose Lang Builders, Inc All Lang Builders homes are custom built to the customer’s wants/needs No homes are the same and they are all truly custom and beautiful
The entire process was fun, exciting and we felt included in all the build decisions and adjustments
We now have the home we always wanted and we are 100% satisfied and have recommended Lang Builders to several of our family/friends have already worked with Lang for remodel jobs and is working on a new build

I have worked for lang builders for over some years their integrity and quality are unmatched compared with the rest of the contractors we work with.I would recommend them as a contractor above AL others so much so I purthesed one of their homes

We recently had a home built by Lang BuildersThe staff was wonderful to deal with from *** helping pick stuff out to *** making last minute changes on the plan
The guys OnSite were extremely friendly and helped explain stuff that was happening to my family as well as myself!

As a customer of Lang Builders we couldn't have been more happy with our building experience Their staff was attentive and very helpful and their attention to detail was beyond anything we could have hoped They were very responsive to any and all issues that arose, and most were handled without us even knowing there was an issue They want you to be happy and it shows in their professionalism We have built homes, and I would "hands down" say that our experience with Lang Builders was by far the BEST

Lang Builders are wonderful to work with - they completed an entire remodel of our main floor while we stayed in the house Their craftmanship and work ethic is top notch I would recommend them to anyone considering any kind of a remodel project at their home We are so very pleased wtih the results

Lang builders built our house about years agoThey did an awesome job building the houseWe have also had them do remodeling jobs on it as wellThey have exceeded our expectations every timeThe house was amazing when they built it and it still is todaythey built the house like they were building their ownThey made great suggestions on everything from areas to keep the price down to area to make the house function better We would and have highly recommend Lang Builders to friends and family

Lang Builders built our home in We have done quite a bit of remodeling since then! We added a season porch, added on to our laundry room, new deck, remodeled kitchen and most recently remodeled our bathroomLang Builders has done all of it! Tim Lang, owner, is honest, respectful and above all does an amazing job! You can't go wrong with Lang Builders!

We did some home improvements to our home and we are extremely satisfied with the quality of work and the wonderful follow through. It made the process very easy and we would recommend Lang Builders to all of our friends, neighbors and family! Thanks for your help with the improvements!

We were completely satisfied and thoroughly impressed with our new home and Lang Builders construction process. For every step of the design and construction phase, our questions were addressed promptly and Tim Lang was available and on site. His crew is phenomenal and adapted quickly to any change of plans. The workers were friendly and professional and have been working for Lang Construction for a very long time. Lang Builders is a company of skilled craftsman with great attention to detail. We are so happy we chose Lang Builders to build our dream home.

Lang Builders were absolutely wonderful to work with in the construction of my new home. They exhibited very high quality in their work and every one of the crew had a positive attitude and willing to help. Since nothing is perfect, there were a few things that had to be adjusted, and that was always done in a prompt and expert manner. I especially appreciate Bill and Tommy - they can fix anything. I love my new home.

We had Lang builders come in repair of minor water damage. T** explained things well and made us feel comfortable. We felt good about the work being done, enjoyed their employees and appreciated the attention to our wants and needs.
Because of that that, during the repair we decided to have them do new granite counter tops in the kitchen and remodel the basement removing a wall and refinishing the ceiling and walls. The work was done on time, on budget and we where always advised of what was being done.

Tim takes a personal interest in every project. Tim & his designer Bob offered many suggestion & recommendations that improved our home building experience. I'm a little bit of a DYI guy & have been involved in fields related to building for over 20 years (appraising, drafting, & surveyor. Tim listened to my ideas, offered suggestions for the items I wanted to do myself & was very upfront about costs & the credits we could receive (for our own work). During the design process, Tim & Bob were always prepared for our meetings, when we wanted to know the cost for upgrades, we typically had the answer before the meeting was over. We never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision. During the construction phase, Tim & Bob provided continual updates. The project was located a little north of the metro area & the sub's Tim selected were wonderful to work with. Having experience in this area, I was knowledgeable of the process & what to expect. My wife was not but everyone listened to her, answered her endless questions and made her feel very comfortable in our building process. Not only would I recommend Lang Builders, I wish I worked for a company like Lang Builders.

Lang Builders completed a major renovation to our home. They installed new windows, doors and stone on our exterior as well as completed a major kitchen/dining/living room remodel where we turned a screen porch into a mudroom & pantry. We could not possibly be more satisfied. Tim and his crew are amazing to work with, very respectful to us and our home. We trust them completely and highly recommend Lang Builders to everyone we know.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2014/03/11) */
Case#[redacted]: [redacted]
I will start out saying [redacted] has a beautiful home. As for the following: #1. We have been by the home to pick up the sign and were unable to find it. The Lock box we always let the home owners hang on to...

until the Year End Check which would be in June 2014. #2. Payment for changing the plumbing has never been stated Lang Builders will pay. When the changing was done - there placed a void on the warranty. There is a reason why the plumbing was done this way - to save on damage done to fixtures and water pressure.#3) Payment for a part that was faulty by who she had do the change in plumbing on #2. No payment will be made. #4) and #6) This wood used in her cabinets is "Poplar" which is what is in our model home. Wood grains are very different and stain colors can be lighter/darker. It has nothing to do with the quality. She was asked to send a release of the panel to our office and we would mail the check out. [redacted] Lang wanted to have a happy buyer on the final walk thru on June 24, 2013. We are still waiting for the release. #5) She had asked to have the doors tapered off so it would not rub on the carpet. There is no reason to replace. #7) This is totally new and only needs adjustment which we can do on the year end. #8) there again, this is new and can go on the year end. #9) This was a construction loan in which she had to sign off on for each Draw (payment) was made to Lang Builders, Inc. Also the title company had to see all of Lang Builders, Inc lien waivers and what not. #10) There is no flashing needed here. The painter uses caulking in the seams. [redacted] did her own painting so this may have been missed. #11) properly flash windows needed to be done in order to pass inspection as to code. #12) The roof line was built per signed plan. #13) The wood frame was to be painted. There again home owner did the painting#14) don't know what this is #15) The sider was out at the home and went over the front of garage in October 2013 #16) This too is new. Door needs adjustment. This is from the settling of the home. And can be looked at on the year end. #17) This also is new and will be looked at but it is most likely due to frost. #18) New to Lang Builders, Inc and will be looked at in June. Customer Satisfaction has always been Lang Builders, Inc number one goal to our home owners. As so as far as Customer Satisfaction - we pride ourselves for over 30 years of many happy home owners! The buyers are given a list of what to look over after they have lived in the home for 30 days. We call it a turn up. Then they do the same on the year end. We do take care of Plumbing, Heating and Elec. Right away when we know about it. Yes the MN Stature states during the one-year period free from defects but there is also a Minnesota Statues Chapter and we are in the minimum performance standards. There again, even the matching drawer front in the kitchen has been re-made 3 times to please the home owner and was not to her pleasing. [redacted] Lang has never yelled at anyone and we can't even see him able to do that. This all started when she said "the placement of the septic system was wrong". [redacted] met with her on placement early June, went over with her on the final walk thru and [redacted] Lang went over placement again at closing. 2 Months later it is in the wrong place after she emailed the lay out June 11, 2013 to our office. There was a lot to go over so I may have missed something. If so let me know.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2014/03/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1) Lang made no attempt to notify me via phone/email that they were agreeable to picking up their sign, however, the sign is located on the west side of my garage where it is in plain view from the street and has remained since July 2013 (documented via photographs). Re: the lock box, it is unclear to me what benefit a homeowner receives in storing Lang's equipment for a year. 2) There are filtering systems specific and individual to sprinkler systems, however, the filter that was installed on the single pipe that originally fed my sprinkler system, two exterior spigots, and the entire indoor plumbing was not such a system. The original plumbing would have had an adverse effect on water pressure versus preserving it as Lang claims. I had already paid Lang to provide me with appropriate sprinkler system plumbing as included in the price of my home, therefore, they are responsible for this $480 bill. 3) I will absolve Lang from their responsibility for the $150 bill if they pay me for the $480 bill. 4) & 6) Lang has two, 19" x 9" drawer fronts that relatively match the grainy fourth drawer in my kitchen, which do not match the top three drawer fronts made out of green wood. All Lang needs to do is simply cut one of the 19" x 9" drawer fronts down to 19" x 5.75" and exchange it with the second drawer front to blend all four drawer fronts together. Clearly I want the $350 refund for the panel as promised more than 7 months ago and later rescinded until I released claim on all defects of my home. If Lang is now agreeing to pay me the $350 for release of the of the poor quality wood panel only, I accept this offer with the Revdex.com as my witness. If Lang requires an additional written release, it is inappropriate/unorthodox for Lang as a business to tell a customer to write their own release. I ask that Lang inform me immediately via email whether or not they require an additional release and the requirements of it so that they do not further delay payment to me. 5) As previously stated in my Sept 10, 2013 letter to Lang: "the door to the master bedroom...(was trimmed) too excessively (and crooked) that there is now a gap between the door and the floor. This is also true of the bedroom behind the garage... needs to be replaced, as the door no longer serves its purpose of cutting out noise, privacy, etc." To speak in simple terms, the doors were hacked off and need to be replaced as there is no way to fix them. 7) It is unacceptable to expect the owner of a new home to barricade a door for an entire year because it was not installed in working order. 8) Though inconvenient, I will agree to wait to have this fixed for an additional 3 months. 9) **SEE NOTICE BELOW** 10) The seams are not of issue nor referred to in my complaint. Flashing is needed here. Please Google "rotting wood columns" and "wood column flashing" to learn what other builders and lay persons know. 11) I have arranged for Marvin Windows to inspect further. 12) I am not complaining that the roofline was built with kick-outs. As my complaint states, the roof line was not built/flashed properly so that water is not directed into my garage. 13) The garage frame needs to be wrapped vinyl as expected, paid for, and installed on other Lang homes. 14) Lang is aware of this item, as I addressed it in my Oct 29, 2013 certified letter to them, which included photographs. 15) Please read my complaint again. Water enters the garage under the garage door towards the west side when it rains, and this was never fixed. ("15a") Lang appears to refer to the leaking that is still occurring from above the garage door, which [redacted] examined on Oct 25, 2013. As stated in my Mar 10, 2014 complaint update, this problem has become worse, and [redacted] now believes this is due to a leak occurring in the garage roof, which may also account for the warped appearance of the seams in the bonus room ceiling. 16) The door was never squared at the time it was installed. (17) This item was first documented the end of Nov 2013, therefore, it could not be due to frost as average temperatures ranged between 25 - 41 degrees that month. (18) This item needs to be fixed, not looked at. I decline comment on the remainder of Lang's response at this time, which contains several false statements, for lack of space, except to say that if Lang admits their work only meets "minimum performance standard" then they should advertise as such and no longer mislead consumers as their website currently does . [redacted] NOTICE[redacted]: SINCE LANG WAS UNWILLING TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE BILLING INFORMATION I HAVE BEEN REQUESTING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, I REQUESTED THIS INFORMATION FROM MY LENDER ON MARCH 12, 2014. MY LENDER SUPPLIED ME WITH THE "CONSTRUCTION DRAW TRACKING". THIS LIST INCLUDES FIGURES PROVIDED BY LANG WHICH DETAILS THE COST OF EACH PRODUCT/SERVICE REQUIRED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF MY HOME AND WHO PROVIDED IT. IT ALSO INCLUDES ALLOWANCES. THE FIGURES ADD UP TO THE PURCHASE PRICE OF MY HOME WHICH I AGREED TO UNDER FALSE PRETENSE. IT IS A LISTING THAT LANG HAS HAD IN THEIR POSSESSION, AS EVIDENCED BY THE CATEGORY NUMBERS LANG INCLUDED IN 2 OF 3 DRAW REQUESTS BUT NEVER PROVIDED TO ME. IT IS NOW READILY APPARENT WHY LANG HAS BEEN REFUSING TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE "CONSTRUCTION DRAW TRACKING", OR ANY OTHER ITEMIZED BILLING, AS IT SHOWS LANG HAS COMMITTED THEFT AGAINST ME UNDER MN STATUTE 609.52, SUBD 2 (4) by swindling, whether by artifice, trick, device, or any other means, obtains property or services from another person, AND HAS FURTHER VIOLATED MN STATUTE 609.822, SUBD 2 (2) IN COMMITTING RESIDENTIAL MORTGAGE FRAUD by knowingly using or facilitating the use of any deliberate and material misstatement, misrepresentation, or omission, knowing the same to contain a material misstatement, misrepresentation, or omission, during the mortgage lending process with the intention that it be relied on by a mortgage lender, borrower, or any other party to the mortgage lending process, WHEREBY LANG TOOK MONEY FROM ME, WITHOUT CLAIM OF RIGHT, THROUGH THE MORTGAGE LENDING PROCESS BY EXAGGERATING OR FABRICATING CHARGES FOR SERVICES OR ALLOWANCES THEY DID NOT PROVIDE AND TO WHICH I DID NOT AGREE PER THE "SPECS" OF OUR AGREEMENT. THE AMOUNT OF THIS THEFT BY SWINDLE AND MORTGAGE FRAUD TOTALS A MINIMUM OF $13,000 AND INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING BY LINE OF THE "CONSTRUCTION DRAW TRACKING": (25) Lang claimed the cost of the glass (shower doors) they provided to me to be $1100, meanwhile they misrepresented this cost to my lender as $1600, thus taking $500 from me without claim of right; (29) It was agreed that Lang would not be providing painting services to me, as I provided this service myself, and therefore did not agree to be charged for any such services by Lang; however, Lang misrepresented to my lender that they would be painting the interior of my home for a cost of $5,000, thus taking $5,000 from me, without claim of right, for services they did not provide; (36) Lang claimed to me that the purchase price of my home included a landscaping allowance of $1,000, meanwhile they misrepresented this allowance to my lender to be $8,000, thus taking $7,000 from me without claim of right; and (42) It was agreed that Lang would not be providing cleaning services to me, as I provided this service myself, therefore I did not agree to be charged for any such services by Lang; however, Lang misrepresented to my lender that they would be cleaning my home at a cost of $500, thus taking $500 from me, without claim of right, for services they did not provide. This total of $13,000 that Lang swindled from me through the use of my lender comprises 4.5 percent of my total mortgage. As of Mar 1, 2014 I have paid $7,074.18 in interest on my mortgage, of which 4.5 percent is $318.22. It should be noted that these false or exaggerated charges totaling $13,000 plus interest are all on top of the $21,000 Lang charged for carpentry and labor and also the $35,000 fee they charged for general contracting, which is above the industry standard of ten percent. These items are a further indicator of theft by swindle committed by Lang, as [redacted] Lang told me that he would only be making a minimal amount of money from the construction of my home, if any, but was agreeing to the project so that his employees could have work. As a result of the above-described discovery, LANG IS HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT I AM DEMANDING THE IMMEDIATE REPAYMENT OF $13,318.22 TO ME, FOR THE THEFT THEY COMMITTED AGAINST ME, BY MAKING MISREPRESENTATIONS TO MY LENDER IN THE FORM OF FALSE CHARGES, AND OTHERWISE. IF I DO NOT RECEIVE THIS FULL REPAYMENT OF $13,318.22 BY THE END OF WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2014, I WILL REPORT THIS MATTER TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TO PURSUE FELONY LEVEL CHARGES AGAINST LANG FOR VIOLATING MN STATUTES 609.52, SUBD 2 (4) (Theft by Swindle) AND 609.822, SUBD 2 (2) (Residential Mortgage Fraud), EACH OF WHICH ARE PUNSIHABLE UNDER 609.52, SUBD 3 (2).
Final Business Response /* (4000, 20, 2014/04/14) */
3/21/2014 [redacted] states she had the City of Andover, plus she states other builder. This was the reports I was asking for. The City will not come out and find something wrong without a report. As of today, we have received no call or mail from the city. Not sure about other builder. April 8, at 8:02 I picked up a bag with lock box and nails and Lang Builders, Inc sign. The $350.00 was also mailed out - due to I received an email at 10:30 PM at which I am not here working and so there was no exchange. The note in file also states in convenience to home owner because it would have made a mess to put a new panel on for here and still the color may have not been right. We did receive a release in the email at 10:30PM. As June 25 comes - we will require a list of things using the list I gave her at closing to go by and check off (One Year Check List). This list will be needed in our office 2 weeks before June 25. This is how Lang Builders, Inc has been doing for years. This gives us time to line up Sub's. She can email this list or mail or drop off - however it is done; we will work off that list. Again, no money will be payable due to there is no reason for this. Sale Price was given and that is what was paid with a credit of $4,721.04 at closing. So this claim of taking money that belongs to her - she may want to call her Lender and really understand how her loan really worked. After all, each Draw that Lang Builders, Inc made - she had to sign off before it could even go in. Each one was signed off by [redacted].
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 17, 2014/04/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It is my hope that the Revdex.com recognizes the circular conversation that has been created in this matter and that no real effort has been made to resolve or even truly address my complaint(s). I do not understand what reports from the City or other builders Lang speaks of. My home has been examined by these individuals. I am not aware of a report being generated as a result. Lang claims that they have made families happy with the homes they have built for them. Clearly, though I would like to be one of those happy families, I am not for numerous reasons. Lang continues to ignore and deny this clear and well-documented fact. The only item Lang appears to be willing to comply with in their last response is retrieving their property from my home. I will move their sign from the side of my garage and place it at the curb by my mailbox, along with the lock box and nails, on the night of April 7, 2014, so that Lang may pick these items up on the early morning of April 8, 2014 as Lang stated. In Lang's last response they failed to address issuing me the $350 refund for the wood panel as they indicated they would provide in their initial Revdex.com response. Lang was silent as to whether or not they required an additional release from me, in addition to my release witnessed by the Revdex.com, and further failed to provide me with direction regarding the release they require. However, I have emailed a release to Lang which states the following: "For the refund of $350 I will release Lang Builders, Inc. of any further fault for providing me with the wood panel they installed near the front entrance of my home, which used poor quality wood in its construction. Sincerely, [redacted]". I would expect to receive this $350 refund prior to Lang retrieving their sign, lock box, and nails on April 8, 2014 as a matter of professional courtesy. While I have already offered to make concessions in order to resolve this complaint, I will now offer to defer resolution of the majority of my complaint until NO LATER THAN June 25, 2014 and only require Lang provide me with the following at this time: (a) The immediate refund of $350 for the poor quality wood panel as originally promised more than 8 months ago. (b) The immediate payment for the $480 bill required to re-route my plumbing in order to provide me with proper sprinkler system plumbing for which I already paid Lang more than 8 months ago. The plumbing that was re-routed was the same plumbing Lang's own subcontracted plumber agreed was improperly configured. (c) The immediate scheduling and repair of the leak occurring above and/or down the front of my garage which has been occurring since before October 25, 2013. This will require the removal of siding, trim, etc. and examination by a minimum of Lang's siding and roofing subcontractors to determine the cause of the leak and finally correct it. I will not wait for this leak to be fixed for a full year as I have already suffered water leaking and/or damage to several areas of my home and refuse to suffer further loss. (d) Immediate payment for the $13,000 Lang took from me with no right or claim through my lender, plus interest of $318.22, for services and/or allowances that were not provided to me, and which were specifically not agreed to by me as evidenced in the "specs" of my contract with Lang. Lang facilitated this theft through the use of two separate sets of figures, one which they provided to me and a second which they provided to my lender. The purchase price I agreed to was understood to include actual and reasonable costs to build my home as described in the specs of my agreement with Lang. The items included in this $13,000 plus interest theft from me were described in detail in my previous Revdex.com response. I will agree that this current Revdex.com complaint is satisfied if I receive the total payments/refunds and services described in (a) through (d) above NO LATER THAN APRIL 16, 2014, and will agree to defer resolution of the numerous other items, both previously reported and newly discovered, until no later than June 25, 2014.

We had Lang builders come in repair of minor water damage. [redacted] explained things well and made us feel comfortable.
