Replaced blown motor with salvaged unit approx. 1 year ago. This motor failed approx. 4.5 months ago, which is how long he had the car to repair.Mr. Langley replaced the motor in our [redacted] approx. 1 year ago with a salvaged unit that had a 1 year warranty. During the first week of March 2015(under warranty), the motor overheated. I had Mr. Langley tow the car to his shop to replace the motor. I asked him to call me when the motor arrived so I could inspect the motor, and he stated he would, but never did. He has claimed he has received 3 different motors from [redacted]. He stated the first motor arrived with a crushed oil pan and broken valve cover. The second one arrived with dirty oil, and the third one arrived with a crushed oil pan and broken valve cover, just as the first one. I suggested to Mr Langley to have [redacted] pull the oil pan and valve cover and inspect for physical damage and do a compression test on the motor, and if no damage was found, ship the motor back to Langley Automotive and use the oil pan and valve cover off of my son's car sitting on his lot. In good faith, I have tried every way possible to communicate ideas with him and give him the benefit of doubt. I have made approx. 20 phone calls and several visits to his shop. He never calls when the motors arrive so I may inspect them, and he gives me the run around when I visit him. He will not give me the number and name of the person he deals with at [redacted], and every personal visit by me results in his telling me a different story. I located a salvaged motor at [redacted] in Roanoke Rapids that I would have accepted, but he stated that his money is tied up with [redacted], and that's where he is going to get the motor from. Mr. Langley has stated to me to take the car somewhere else to get it repaired, but at my cost. This is not acceptable, as this motor had his warranty. I believe he has had more than enough time to repair this car (he could have the motor rebuilt, which would be fine with me). I do not know the exact dates of occurrences, and when I questioned Mr. Langley when he towed the car, he stated he did not know. His actions, or lack there-of, are not acceptable. Also, Mr Langley also replaced the transmission approx. 2 months after replacing the motor, due to the transmission leaking after the motor replacement. He stated the seals between the transmission and motor failed, but his men did not touch that area of the transmission. He stated to me that pulling the car to his shop ruined the seals, so I payed for the transmission replacement with a salvaged unit from [redacted]. (the separate motor and transmission replacement was approx. $3900.00). Approx. 1 month after the transmission replacement, he replaced the starter and throttle body for approx. $600.00.Desired SettlementThis has created a hardship for my family. My wife is on disability for [redacted]. We pay taxes and insurance for this car to sit there. We borrowed my In-laws car, and paid them $300.00 for insurance coverage and performed all maintenance on their car while still in use. We need our vehicles for doctor's visits and work. We would like to contact Mr. Langley and make him repair or replace the motor NOW. I believe it can be reasonably done within 2 weeks. If he cannot do this, then he may purchase the car from us for $2500.00 and let him deal with it. My son needs his own car to travel back and forth to work and for personal use. I would also like Mr. Langley to call me and keep me informed of his progress. We have trusted him in good faith with our property, and he has and is taking advantage of us. WE NEED HELP. He needs to be held accountable for his actions, or lack thereof.
