I contacted the customer 12/17/to discuss the matter with himI volunteered to come over to Nampa and pick up his vehicle at his home and supply him with a loanerWe brought the vehicle back to the service department and performed a oil change and began what is called a oil consumption test to
the carWhen complete we washed his car and delivered it back to himI contacted the customer to let his know it was completed and to follow the procedure supplied to him to complete the oil consumption testingHe was not charged for the work performedHe seemed satisfied with the work performed

*** *** had his car towed in on 02/09/with what he stated was a bad head gasket and a dead batteryThe technician went out to retrieve the vehicle with a battery jump box, popped the hood and noticed before even hooking up the jumper box to it that there is a hole in the cylinder
blockWe have never jumped the car nor started itIt needs the engine replaced on itOwner notified of needed engine replacement*** wants to take it to another shop for second opinionWe have not charged the customer any diagnosis on the car, however we do have a $tow bill on the repair order that needs to be paid before the vehicle can be released and is the owner’s responsibilityThe tow bill on the car needs to be satisfiedWe just went out and supplied power to the car radio and the CD is still in the CD playerPlease pay the $tow bill and have the vehicle removed from our property promptly

I’m sorry that Mr*** has been having difficulties without store and his vehicleI know that Mr*** has spoke with our Service Manager Don C***Don informed Mr*** that it looks the timing belt in his car has failed
The difficulty with a broken timing belt is it’s
impossible to diagnose the extent of the repair without taking the engine apartWe let Mr*** know that to take the engine apart to start the diagnoses would cost $500… Once open the extent of the repairs will more clear. Once we know the extent of the damage we would know what the further repairs would cost
I empathize with Mr*** its certainly bad news
Both Ryan and Marnie in our Finance department have spoke with Mr***He does have a warrantyHe has a copy of the warranty and it highlights hundreds of components covered by itLike most car warranty’s wear and tear items like brake pads, light bulbs, timing belts, wiper blade inserts and car batteries
Mr*** can cancel his warranty and receive a pro-rated refund for any unused portion
I know that Mr*** isn’t please with these answers but they are the factsHe can absolutely take his car to the mechanic of his choice for a second opinion

We inspect all vehicles by a certified mechanic upon receiving the vehicle into our inventoryOnce the vehicle passes the inspection it then qualifies for an extended warranty in which we offered to Mr***We also very clearly state any issues that may go wrong with any purchase of a used
vehicleAll customers sign this form, as did Mr***We make every effort to sell quality used vehicles and to offer our customers protection plans to help reduce out of pocket expenses down the roadWe do not sell any vehicle with known pre existing conditions that are not communicated to a customer and signed off on by the customerIn this case the attached documents show that the customer was made aware that the vehicles qualified for an extended warranty and that by declining this warranty the vehicle was being purchased 'as warranty'Additionally the customer signed a form showing potential defects that could occur in any used vehicleThis purchase was made over one year ago and has since been repaired in a shop other than ours, in which we cannot guarantee repairs that were madePlease feel free to contact us with further questions at 208-947-
Thank you

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:Sincerely,[redacted]

We had two Cobalts available at the time the purchase was made. We had a 2 door version that was on display on our lot with a full recondition report and a clean title that was offered to [redacted] and [redacted]. Ultimately [redacted] made the decision to purchase the vehicle with the salvage title. [redacted] reviewed...

the Carfax report showing both the damage and the prior repairs that had been done according to Carfax. We complete a safety inspection on every vehicle as we did on the Cobalt that [redacted] ultimately purchased. It is nearly impossible to predict mechanical failure especially to a part that had been recently replaced such as the transmission in this car. We clearly post warranty information in the window of every vehicle on our lot. This allows customers the opportunity to see upfront information about vehicles that are covered and ones that are not. When the vehicle was purchased, [redacted] and [redacted] were provided with a document that was signed that listed some major defects that may occur in used vehicles like this one. Also, [redacted] and [redacted] were aware that this vehicle did not qualify for any warranty coverage. I can be reached at 208-947-6300. Please ask for Ty

The dealership has hand delivered a check for the amount of $555.00 to me this afternoon so please close the complaint.

Thank you for your assistance, it was instrumental in receiving payment.

Warm regards,
