Always a professional
We have hired Larry several times for projects both large and small. He is on time, responsive and meticulous. He re wired our home and made our electrical juncture box look perfect! (gotta love all the labels!). I have him working with us on a new house and again, he has been professional and honest. When you want something done with electrical in your home, it has to be safe. I trust him implicitly.

[redacted] has filed this erroneous complaint, over a dispute we had, of him wanting me to spend more time, and do additional work, for the same estimated amount we had agreed to originally, without adding additional justified compensation Which essentially amounts to an additional $above the original estimate of $(which he had approved), for the work I agreed to do for him [redacted] has twisted the facts, omitted other facts, and has fabricated this complaint to give the impression that I have demanded to be paid in full for work that I have yet to do, and then took off with his money, and failed to return his calls This is simply Not True, and he knows it! Nevertheless, he has structured his complaint to give more depth and meaning, to justify even filing a complaint, in order to use the weight of the Revdex.com as leverage against me, to force me to do additional work for free, and spend more time on work already completed as agreed, for next to nothing, and he is willing to go to any length, even with the threat of filing additional complaints with other agencies, to compel me to acquiesce I will not!Even the very first line of [redacted] 's complaint begins with a statement, and the falsehoods continue from there! In that first line, he claims that he called me for two needed repair items Actually the truth is, he called me about three (3) needed repair items! - 1) The replacement of two lighting switches, - one in the Kitchen, and one in the Front Entrance Hallway; 2) The replacement of video intercom units; and 3) To check out a Bathroom Exhaust Fan - which stopped working[redacted] called me to ask for an estimate on some work at his house We had briefly discussed the work he wanted me to do, i.e., the replacement of two Lighting Switches; the replacement of Video Intercom Units; and to check out a Bathroom Exhaust Fan, that had stopped working in the Master Bathroom At that time I told [redacted] that I do not work on intercom systems But he explained that he just needed to have the existing units replaced with new units of the same model and brand, which he had already purchased, because the old units weren't working He assured me that it was just a simple removal and replacement job I had agreed to do the workbut with the understanding that if they needed more attention or servicing, that he would have to get someone who does work on intercom systems to service them I reiterated the point that I don't work on intercom systems, but I would be willing to do just a simple remove and replace job for him, and he said that would be fine I also advised [redacted] that I would need to come over and take a look at the work first, before I could give him an estimate So we had set up an appointment for Aug**, When I first arrived at [redacted] 's house on Aug**, 2015, we went over the work that he wanted me to do for him, and told me that he would be supplying all of his own materials, including several types of lighting switches, depending on which ones I needed to use He showed me all the intercom units to be install, there were three of them in total, two (2) wall mounted intercom units with video monitors, and one (1) intercom doorbell unit, with an internal video camera I looked over all of the componentsand asked [redacted] about the power supply for these units, which I didn't see He said that it wasn't necessary to install the power supply I suggested that all of the new units should be installed together including the new power supply, all at the same time But [redacted] had insisted that it wasn't necessary to hook up a new power supply, because the old existing power supply was exactly the same as the new one, and it worked just fine So I did not push the issue.Being that [redacted] was supplying all of his own materials for the work mentioned above, including a choice of lighting switches, he asked me to give him an estimate on just the labor alone for the work I gave [redacted] an estimate of $for the work, and explained to him, that if the problem with the Bathroom Exhaust Fan was with the motor (which we didn't know at the time), that I had a new fan motor in stock, which I brought with me, but I didn't know if my fan motor would fit his unit, and told him that If it did, I would add an additional $for the motor, and the total estimate would be $ But if the Exhaust Fan unit didn't need a new motor, but instead just a good cleaning, or something else, then the cost would be just $without the motor This amount was only an Estimate! [redacted] accepted my estimate, and I started working on replacing the two light switches first A 4-way dimmer switch in the Kitchen, and a 3-way switch in the entrance hallway Upon finishing the two switches, I began working on the intercom units next After determining which wall unit between them was the master control, I set out replacing both units in their respective locations, replacing the old existing units with the new intercom units One in the Kitchen (the master), and the other one in his Master Bedroom After they were installed, I then replaced the intercom doorbell unit Three (3) intercom units in total. The problems started, which led to the dispute, after I replace the doorbell unit, and [redacted] had asked me to operate the doorbell button, while he checked both intercom wall units to see if they worked On the first try, they did not! So I removed the master intercom wall unit in the Kitchen, to check the wiring The wiring was connected correctly, and all the wire terminals were tight As I was returning the unit back to it's wall mount, it came on Perhaps when [redacted] pressed the doorbell button, or I may have touched the response button, I didn't know But it worked after that. When we tested the system [redacted] wasn't happy with the angle of the doorbell unit's view on the video monitors, and he asked me to adjust it better The new doorbell unit came with a plastic angled mounting base with a fixed angled, that was not adjustable The camera lens within the doorbell unit, had a limited adjustable range, only three positions And by [redacted] 's front door, there is only one available location where these doorbell units could be installed at, and where the existing wiring for the old doorbell unit was, so there really wasn't anything more that I could do to adjust the angle, other than the limited range three camera positions, which I tried adjusting for him, but he still wasn't pleased with the results I explained and showed to [redacted] , the limitations of the doorbell unit, and suggested that maybe he should look into getting a different angled mounting base for the doorbell unit. There was also a problem with the doorbell button itself, which sometimes failed to work on the first try, which I believe is the reason why the intercom system didn't work the first time we tried it However, it seemed to always worked on the second try You would need to press the button twice to activate the system Nevertheless, despite the fact that there were only two (2) wires that connect to two (2) terminals on the back of the doorbell unit, and the plastic angled mounting base is a fixed angled unit which mounts only one way, [redacted] insisted that I spend more time working on adjusting it, and trying to find out why the doorbell button was not functioning properly. After examining all of the possible reasons for the doorbell button malfunctioning, which included removing the doorbell unit from the base, and examining the wiring, I had determined that the problem was not with anything to do with installing the unit, but rather with the button contacts internally or the internal electronics of the unit Despite my efforts, I was unable to resolve the doorbell button issue, or remount the doorbell unit to a different location, or adjust the camera lens any further The doorbell button has internal parts that are located within the sealed housing of the doorbell unit, and not accessible without dismantling the unit itself to look inside, which would void the warrantee I advised [redacted] to contact the company where he had purchased the units, of the possibility that the doorbell unit might be defective Nevertheless, [redacted] insisted that I continue working on it.I had spent a great deal of time working on the doorbell unit, which went far beyond the time and amount I had estimated and charged [redacted] for installing it I explained to [redacted] that I had only estimated a small and reasonable amount to just replace these intercom units, as we had agreed, and that I have already spent more time on them than I had expected to be spending, and I needed to move on.I had to establish a stopping point with [redacted] , because I saw no end in sight to his constant insistence that I continue working on getting the doorbell units to operate to his satisfaction And without the doorbell unit functioning properly, the rest of the system wouldn't work properly either I had explained to [redacted] that I could not be working on them indefinitely, which is what [redacted] apparently expecting me to do And being that I had already replaced the intercom units, with the new units he provided, as we had previously agreed I have completed that work, and now needed to move on.Next, I worked on the Bathroom Exhaust Fan I removed the cover, and fan & motor assembly from the Exhaust Fan unit housing, and checked for power coming to the Exhaust Fan housing, and then cleaned and tested the fan motor to see if it was bad I determined that it was a bad fan motor, and then checked to see if the fan motor I had brought with me, would fit his Exhaust Fan unit, it did not My motor was too large to fit his fan & motor assembly I returned the fan & motor assembly back into the Exhaust Fan housing, but left the cover off, at [redacted] 's request, so that he could clean it later I then explained to [redacted] that the existing fan motor was definitely bad, and would need to be replaced with a fan motor of the same size as his existing unit, and that my fan motor would not fit his unit, it was too large I also explained that I didn't know if I could get just the fan motor by itself, or I needed to get the fan & motor assembly together, or even a whole new Exhaust Fan unit I told him that I would need to investigate it further, and I would have to get back to him on it.After I had finished all of the work (noted above), and wrapped up my tools and ladder, I wrote up a bill for the work I had completed The total of which came to $260.00, and presented [redacted] with my bill for the day's completed work, with an explanation of the charges I further explained that normally I ask for an advance towards materials when I provide them, but because it was unknown whether I could get the replacement fan motor by itself or not, I wasn't sure how much I needed to ask for in advance, so I wasn't going to ask for any advance for the fan motor at that time Instead I told him that I would need to investigate the fan motor, and get back to him on what I would be able to get, and how much I also explained to [redacted] , that there would be an additional charge for labor plus materials to return at a later time to replace the fan motor, as a separate job I told him, that I would only charge $to replace the fan motor, plus the materials, instead of my minimum charge At which point an argument ensued about the bill, the amount, the fan motor, and the additional charges for installing the new fan motor.I explained that the $charge was only for the work I had completed that day, and showed him the list of completed work on the billing statement, that I was charging him for I further explained that I was not asking for an advance towards the fan motor at that time, and I was not charging him to replace the fan motor at that time either That to return to replace the Exhaust Fan motor on another day would require payment for that work separately, and he would receive a separate bill for that work I also reiterated that I would discount my usual minimum charge to only $labor To which we then argued over his insisting that I surrender to him my purchase receipts from my Electrical supplier A highly unusual and unreasonable request No business surrenders their purchase receipts to their customers! [redacted] finally relented, after I told him that my Accountant gets my purchase receipts, not him! The whole exchange was unbelievable.I handed my billing statement to [redacted] , and he then wrote me a check for the $260.00, which I noted on the bill for payment in full, along with the date and check number, and handed him a receipt for the payment (the yellow copy from the billing statement), and I left the premises. The video intercom units were all installed and wired correctly, and in accordance with our previous simple remove and replace agreement Nothing more! Everything worked before I had settled up the bill with [redacted] and left the premises Although I had spent more time, at [redacted] 's request, working on the doorbell unit than I had estimated, I DID NOT charge [redacted] anything extra for the additional time spent working on it.I did not charge [redacted] for any work I have yet to do! I did not seek an advance payment from [redacted] towards materials I have yet to provide! And I did not take any part of the existing Exhaust Fan with me for comparison purposes, when I left either! I had charged [redacted] a fair and appropriate amount for the work he had asked me to do, when I first arrived on that day, and only for services rendered I charged [redacted] an installation charge of $per unit, for each of the three (3) intercom units installed, a total of $135.00, and an installation charge of $per unit, for each of the two (2) lighting switches installed, a total of $ And a charge of $35.00, to disassemble, diagnose, and reassemble the Bathroom Exhaust Fan, and nothing more A grand total of $for all of the services I had performed, at [redacted] 's original request on that day, Aug**, 2015.Despite [redacted] 's claim that he had paid me in full, in advance for parts and labor, for the work to replace the fan motor, and for the replacement of two video intercom units, that sporadically worked A total fabrication of the facts! He conveniently leaves out the third intercom unit (the doorbell unit, which we had all of the problems with), and the two lighting switches I had also replaced first, and I had billed him for, and is on the billing statement [redacted] knows this! Nevertheless, in his complaint, he gives totally impressions of what actually transpired Essentially, what [redacted] is doing with this complaint, is to force me to return to his house and replace the fan motor for the same original estimated amount of $I gave him before I started of the project An amount that would have included the fan motor I had in stock (not the correct one), which I brought with me, only to see if it would fit his fan unit, which did not fit! In essence, [redacted] is unwilling to pay an additional $over the original estimated amount of $for the work, so he is using the Revdex.com as leverage against me, in an attempt to force me to do work for him for free, or for next to nothing Which I will not do!Using this means of harassment, [redacted] is also, trying to force me to return and spend more time (free of charge), continuing to fiddling around with those intercom units, because he is unwilling to pay an Intercom and Alarm Contractor to come and service his intercom system Instead he is trying to hold me responsible for repairing the issues with them, because I am the Contractor who replaced them Ignoring the fact, that I only agreed to replace them, and had only charged him for that work, and nothing more! And ignoring the fact, that I told him up front, over the phone, and before we met, that I do not work on Intercom Systems He was fine with it then, assuring me that they only needed replacing, but now holding me responsible for servicing and repairing them too! [redacted] will have to hire another Electrical Contractor to replace the Bathroom Exhaust Fan motor, which I DID NOT charge him to replace! And to set the record straight, the new Contractor will NOT be finishing my work! My work and involvement with [redacted] ended on the day I had billed [redacted] the $260.00, for the work I had performed and completed on that day To which I have received payment in full, finalizing my business transaction with him The reason why I required an additional charge for the fan motor replacement, (labor plus materials) is because I have NOT charged [redacted] for that work! Period! Apparently [redacted] has a problem accept that, and it appears that [redacted] is attempting to force me to do work for him for free, or for next to nothing, and he is willing to do anything to get me to comply I will not! Even his treat to pursue small claims against me to obtain a refund of the amount I had charged him for services rendered, only exemplifies my point At this point I will say that this filed complaint with the Revdex.com, and his threats of further legal action against me, constitutes harassment And [redacted] 's threats to tarnish my good name and reputation, with all agencies, including the Condominium complex where he got my name from, if I don't capitulate, constitutes slander If [redacted] continues to pursue this any further, or takes step to continue to tarnish my good name and reputation, then I will take legal action of my own, against him! In all the years that I have been in business, I have developed a reputation for honesty, integrity, my skills as a tradesman, my ability for problem solving, and my high level for quality workmanship at fair prices Over the years I have developed a following of customers who will stand behind me, and vouch for that fact I had charged [redacted] a fairly and appropriate amount, of $260.00, for the work I had performed for him, on August **, And even offered him a discount to return to put the fan motor in But now he will have to get someone else to do the fan motor replacement work for him My only hope, is that he treats the new Contractor with more respect then he has shown me And if he continues to slander my name, and harass me further, I will pursue legal action against him I am not interested in doing any further business with [redacted] Period! And I consider this matter closed! Larry P [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
First, I want to thank the Revdex.com for reaching MrP***. Larry P*** did not return any of my phone calls nor reply to my email prior to my reaching out to you. I was wondering if something had happened to him since I really didn't expect him to disappear on me After reading MrP***’s reply on four plus pages of typed paper, I will take a step back and more articulately tell my side of the story and will specifically challenge statements he is making It’s kind of sad. In the time he spent writing this argument, he could have finished the work at my house! - In the first paragraph, he states that the original estimate was $300. That is not true. He agreed to do all the work for $240. But he was clever and didn't put this in writing His statements on pricing in the 5th paragraph just are not true. And I told him from the beginning that I was pretty confident that the motor needed replacement I told him that this happened 8-years ago and thus I was confident it needed to be replaced again (we have lived in the house years). The $+ $amounts he is stating just aren’t true. - In the first paragraph, he says it is untrue that he failed to return my calls. The fact is, I made three separate calls, approximately a week apart. My initial calls left polite messages asking him to please manage my expectations on when he might have the fan motor and be able to schedule a visit to install it He has a copy of those messages, I don't. I sent MrP*** an email on September ** (at 1:pm), a month after the August ** date when he was at my house, after I became resigned to the fact that he had disappeared and wasn't returning calls nor coming back I did this to create a record and I have a copy of that email He never replied to it. It wasn't until the Revdex.com reached out to him that he surfaced. I will attach a copy of this email here. - MrP*** continues to say that I want to force him to do additional work for free This is not true. I reluctantly agreed to pay him the cost of the motor plus $for installation. I verbally agreed to this when I wrote him a check for $260, which I admittedly was not happy about since this exceeded the total amount quoted before he started, and he had not replaced the exhaust fan motor. I did ask for a receipt for the cost of the motor since he said he would charge me what it cost himThere are some contractors that purchase materials for one price and charge customers anotherSome contractors identify up front that there will be a mark up of x%. Others just do it and overcharge the customer. I didn't think it was unreasonable to ask to see backup. In the 15th paragraph of MrP***’s statement, he admits that he refused to show me what the cost of the fan was. Why? Perhaps because that would limit the amount he could overcharge me for it. Perhaps. - The middle paragraphs of MrP***’s statement go on and on and on about the doorbell problem. He very much exaggerates. Then, MrP*** states in capital letters, “I DID NOT charge *** *** anything extra for the additional time spent working on it.”, but of course he did The price quoted when I agreed to the work was $(including for replacing the fan motor). He charged me $and did NOT replace the bathroom fan motor. He goes on to itemize and breakdown his $260 pricing in detail in his statement, but of course this is the first time I am seeing this, and to even comment on his self justification would be a waste of timeThe reality is, Larry P*** quoted a lump sum price before being awarded this project, and when he demanded payment, the price changed. There are a few correct truths in MrP***’s statement and I will acknowledge them here. - In the 2nd paragraph, MrP*** states that he replaced two wall switches, supplied by me That is true. No dispute. And they are working fine. That work was part of the $amount that we verbally agreed to. - In the 4th paragraph, MrP*** states that he suggested that the new power supply should be installed, but that I said it didn't need to be changedThis is true, and it appears that MrP*** was correct. Prior to my purchasing a new video intercom system, I called the manufacturer of the old video intercom system (a company called Aiphone) to ask what I could do about replacing the system with something modern that was compatible and easy to install. The person I spoke to said I could replace the units in place with their new model, reusing the existing wiring and electric power plug. When MrP*** packed up to leave, with the doorbell unit malfunctioning, MrP*** suggested that I call the Aiphone company. I did. And I spoke to someone in technical support who said I should change the power supply plug and said it is very possible that this is the reason for intermittent failure in the performance of the unit. On my first follow up call to MrP***, when I asked about when he would have the fan motor, I mentioned this and said that the power plug should be changed I also wrote this in my emailAgain, Larry P*** never returned my calls nor responded to my email.Larry P*** goes on in the 20th paragraph, to complain that I am utilizing the Revdex.com to save $ This is all very sad and pathetic The electric plug for the new video intercom system needs to be installed, as MrP*** initially suggestedThat and the replacement of the fan motor for the agreed amounts are all I expected Mr. P*** to finish I agreed when Mr. P*** left the house, to pay him the cost (the actual cost) of the new fan motor, plus $additional for labor, to replace the fan motor. Then he walked out the door with my check, never to finish the job. He clearly had no intention of calling me nor of finishing the work At this point, I don't think it is a good idea for Larry P*** to come back to my house Instead, I would prefer a partial refund, that I will need to use to pay to another electrician to finish the work Something in the nature of $would seem appropriate as I expect another electrician to have a $minimum charge If the Revdex.com can encourage MrP*** to issue this refund, I would be most appreciative.Sincerely,*** ***

In response to *** *** ***'s complaint.Final Response! RE: Complaint ID # *** I can only imagine how hard it is for the reader to wonder who between *** *** and I, are telling the truthWithout proof one way or the other, the truth can easily get clouded, and *** *** is banking on that!!! *** *** expected me to do more work than he was willing to pay me for, which sparked our argument It seems to me in retrospect, that *** *** has got this game of his down, to get what he wants Even to the point of filing frivolous complaints, and then continually Lying about the facts He seems to be acutely aware of all the pitfalls, such as me not giving him a written estimate, or a written proposal (as he's claiming now), which I only give to those who ask for one - he did not! And normally a verbal estimate for such a small job (like his), is all that's required for an honest customer - he is not! He has shown a willingness to fabricate a completely distorted version of events, and disregard the truth and outright Lie about what transpired He contradicts everything I say, and even uses my own words, to embellish his Lies! It's despicable what this man is trying to do, and I can't help wondering how many other Contractors he has pulled this crap onHis game is, if he couldn't get me to do more work than what he was willing to pay me for before, he is now trying to force me to pay him out of the money I have legitimately earned, in order to squeeze me for all he can get, using the Revdex.com, and the Consumer Protection Deptof Westchester County as muscle to force me to comply In either case, the results would be the same, getting more for less! That is his end gameI am absolutely furious over this nonsense, and that's exactly what this is! Pure unadulterated contrived nonsense from *** ***! He has created this fantasy of events, and tailors his Lies in direct opposition to my responses, in order to further confuse, muddy and cloud the truth, so no one knows who is telling the truth! As I have said time and again, I stand 100% behind what I said in my first response to *** *** complaint! It explains in detail what happened, those are the facts, and is the absolute God honest truth! Period! I don't give a damn what *** *** says! He is a damn Liar, who can't be trusted!!! Now he has come up with this contrived amount of $240, which he claims is the amount he agreed to, and wants me to purchase the fan motor (at my expense) and install it for free, claiming that he has already paid for itWhat kind of nonsense is this? What about the other work I had charged him for, and I have a billing statement to prove it? That gets forgotten of course! As I have said before, I charged *** *** $per unit, to install switches, and intercom units = $And I had charged *** *** $to disassemble, diagnose the Exhaust Fan problem, and reassemble the Exhaust Fan unit, when my stock motor did not fit his unit A total of $That's all! Period! He knows this and he paid me, after I went over the bill with him, which listed the work I was charging him for The work he had asked me to do from the beginning! I gave him a copy of the billing statement marked paid in full, with the date, his check number and the amount, after he handed me the check He DID NOT pay me for anything in Advance! The $he now mentions, was NEVER an amount EVER mentioned before, he simply made it up, to embellish this complaint! I know how I came up with the numbers for my Estimate and the amounts I charged him for But I have no idea how HE came up with his $number! And despite what this Liar is claiming, I stand 100% behind what I repeatedly said, over and over again, because as God is my witness, I've been stating the truth over and over again!!! I can't make it any clearer than that, because it IS the God honest Truth!!! And let's get right down to it.in this day and age, what customer pays a Contractor in full for services YET to be done? If *** *** had reservations about paying me in advance, he would not have paid me anything at all!!! He paid me $because he knew when he wrote the check, that it was for payment of the completed work, we had agreed upon at the start of the day!!! Not because he felt compelled to do so, but rather because he knew he was paying me for THAT completed work, and nothing more!!! Period!!! Furthermore, at the end of the job, I tallied up the bill, and it came to $total, for items installed ($225.00) and the disassembly, diagnoses, and reassembly of the Exhaust Fan unit for $35! Not the $I had originally Estimated Remember the $was only an Estimate - NOT A Quote! The $was the Actual amount for the completed work I did!!! There's the Estimate, and then there's the Actual Charge! An Estimate by it's very nature is an inexact amount $is what I charged him, I explained to him what the charge covered, and he paid me by check! That's what happened! Period Nothing else! There was NO DEMAND for payment, as *** *** would have you believe! And there was NO Quote of $- A complete fabricated LIE!!! Again, I can't make it any clearer than that, because that IS the God honest Truth!!! Mr Schenke is twisting the facts, and outright Lying, to give his claim credence He wanted me to get another fan motor at my expense, and install it for the original $Estimate That's what sparked the argument Without knowing how much the new fan motor would cost, I said no! He wanted me to give him my Contractor discount for the fan motor, and I said no! HE DEMANDED that I give him my Electrical Supplier's receipt, or invoice, for the cost of the fan motor, for proof that I was only charging him what I actually paid for it There is no reason on earth, why I should give up my Contractor discount to this man! Who the hell does he think he is!? This is what we were arguing about!!! In a nutshell, that's how all of this got started! And is thee reason why I refused to return his calls or respond to his Email, after I left Because I didn't want to prolong the argument any further over the phone, and I had no intention of doing any further business with him! Period! Whatever *** *** is claiming in his complaint, and thereafter, is pure unadulterated **!!! And I'm not going to stand for it any longer!!! I have done absolutely NOTHING wrong!!! And I have absolutely NO intention of giving this man one cent, of my honest hard-earned money! The fact that this man has filled a completely fabricated frivolous complaint against me, in an effort to extort money from me is criminal!!! The fact that this man has shown a complete and utter disregard for the truth, and his willingness to continue embellishing his Lies, back-and-forth indefinitely, only exemplifies what I said in my first response, when I said I had to establish a stopping point for *** ***'s continued insistence that I continue working on the doorbell intercom units to operate to his satisfaction, because I saw no end in sight Once again, I find myself in the same persistent cycle that this man does So once again I say NO to this nonsense! It has gone on long enough, too long in fact! Enough is enough!!! *** *** has been a cruel, argumentative, vindictive, deceitful, and unscrupulous Liar, who is attempting to tarnish my good name and honest reputation, in order to squeeze as much as he can from me He Lies through his teeth (and yes I do stand behind that statement, because it is true - and he know it!) He knows that no one can prove that he is Lying, and so he gets away with this crap at the expense of the Contractor! This is wrong, this is very wrong, and *** *** should not be trusted!!! This guy needs to be stopped, and this frivolous complaint needs to come to an end! I will not play this pathetic back-and-forth game with *** *** any further, so I am putting an end to this ridiculous nonsense here and now, and will no longer respond to any further words this deceitful Liar has to say There is nothing more to be said This is my Final Response! [redacted] has filed this erroneous complaint, over a dispute we had, of him wanting me to spend more time, and do additional work, for the same estimated amount we had agreed to originally, without adding additional justified compensation.  Which essentially amounts to an additional...

$35.00 above the original estimate of $300.00 (which he had approved), for the work I agreed to do for him.  [redacted] has twisted the facts, omitted other facts, and has fabricated this complaint to give the false impression that I have demanded to be paid in full for work that I have yet to do, and then took off with his money, and failed to return his calls.  This is simply Not True, and he knows it!  Nevertheless, he has structured his complaint to give more depth and false meaning, to justify even filing a complaint, in order to use the weight of the Revdex.com as leverage against me, to force me to do additional work for free, and spend more time on work already completed as agreed, for next to nothing, and he is willing to go to any length, even with the threat of filing additional complaints with other agencies, to compel me to acquiesce.  I will not!Even the very first line of [redacted]'s complaint begins with a false statement, and the falsehoods continue from there!  In that first line, he claims that he called me for two needed repair items.  Actually the truth is, he called me about three (3) needed repair items! - 1) The replacement of two lighting switches, - one in the Kitchen, and one in the Front Entrance Hallway;  2) The replacement of video intercom units; and  3) To check out a Bathroom Exhaust Fan - which stopped working.[redacted] called me to ask for an estimate on some work at his house.  We had briefly discussed the work he wanted me to do, i.e., the replacement of two Lighting Switches; the replacement of Video Intercom Units; and to check out a Bathroom Exhaust Fan, that had stopped working in the Master Bathroom.  At that time I told [redacted] that I do not work on intercom systems.  But he explained that he just needed to have the existing units replaced with new units of the same model and brand, which he had already purchased, because the old units weren't working.  He assured me that it was just a simple removal and replacement job.  I had agreed to do the work. but with the understanding that if they needed more attention or servicing, that he would have to get someone who does work on intercom systems to service them.   I reiterated the point that I don't work on intercom systems, but I would be willing to do just a simple remove and replace job for him, and he said that would be fine.   I also advised [redacted] that I would need to come over and take a look at the work first, before I could give him an estimate.  So we had set up an appointment for Aug. **, 2015.    When I first arrived at [redacted]'s house on Aug. **, 2015, we went over the work that he wanted me to do for him, and told me that he would be supplying all of his own materials, including several types of lighting switches, depending on which ones I needed to use.  He showed me all the intercom units to be install, there were three of them in total, two (2) wall mounted intercom units with video monitors, and one (1) intercom doorbell unit, with an internal video camera.  I looked over all of the components. and asked [redacted] about the power supply for these units, which I didn't see.  He said that it wasn't necessary to install the power supply.  I suggested that all of the new units should be installed together including the new power supply, all at the same time.  But [redacted] had insisted that it wasn't necessary to hook up a new power supply, because the old existing power supply was exactly the same as the new one, and it worked just fine.  So I did not push the issue.Being that [redacted] was supplying all of his own materials for the work mentioned above, including a choice of lighting switches, he asked me to give him an estimate on just the labor alone for the work.  I gave [redacted] an estimate of $275.00 for the work, and explained to him, that if the problem with the Bathroom Exhaust Fan was with the motor (which we didn't know at the time), that I had a new fan motor in stock, which I brought with me, but I didn't know if my fan motor would fit his unit, and told him that If it did, I would add an additional $25.00 for the motor, and the total estimate would be $300.00.  But if the Exhaust Fan unit didn't need a new motor, but instead just a good cleaning, or something else, then the cost would be just $275.00 without the motor.  This amount was only an Estimate![redacted] accepted my estimate, and I started working on replacing the two light switches first.  A 4-way dimmer switch in the Kitchen, and a 3-way switch in the entrance hallway.  Upon finishing the two switches, I began working on the intercom units next.  After determining which wall unit between them was the master control, I set out replacing both units in their respective locations, replacing the old existing units with the new intercom units.  One in the Kitchen (the master), and the other one in his Master Bedroom.  After they were installed, I then replaced the intercom doorbell unit.  Three (3) intercom units in total. The problems started, which led to the dispute, after I replace the doorbell unit, and [redacted] had asked me to operate the doorbell button, while he checked both intercom wall units to see if they worked.  On the first try, they did not!  So I removed the master intercom wall unit in the Kitchen, to check the wiring.  The wiring was connected correctly, and all the wire terminals were tight.  As I was returning the unit back to it's wall mount, it came on.  Perhaps when [redacted] pressed the doorbell button, or I may have touched the response button, I didn't know.  But it worked after that. When we tested the system [redacted] wasn't happy with the angle of the doorbell unit's view on the video monitors, and he asked me to adjust it better.  The new doorbell unit came with a plastic angled mounting base with a fixed angled, that was not adjustable.  The camera lens within the doorbell unit, had a limited adjustable range, only three positions.  And by [redacted]'s front door, there is only one available location where these doorbell units could be installed at, and where the existing wiring for the old doorbell unit was, so there really wasn't anything more that I could do to adjust the angle, other than the limited range three camera positions, which I tried adjusting for him, but he still wasn't pleased with the results.  I explained and showed to [redacted], the limitations of the doorbell unit, and suggested that maybe he should look into getting a different angled mounting base for the doorbell unit. There was also a problem with the doorbell button itself, which sometimes failed to work on the first try, which I believe is the reason why the intercom system didn't work the first time we tried it.  However, it seemed to always worked on the second try.  You would need to press the button twice to activate the system.  Nevertheless, despite the fact that there were only two (2) wires that connect to two (2) terminals on the back of the doorbell unit, and the plastic angled mounting base is a fixed angled unit which mounts only one way, [redacted] insisted that I spend more time working on adjusting it, and trying to find out why the doorbell button was not functioning properly. After examining all of the possible reasons for the doorbell button malfunctioning, which included removing the doorbell unit from the base, and examining the wiring, I had determined that the problem was not with anything to do with installing the unit, but rather with the button contacts internally or the internal electronics of the unit.  Despite my efforts, I was unable to resolve the doorbell button issue, or remount the doorbell unit to a different location, or adjust the camera lens any further.  The doorbell button has internal parts that are located within the sealed housing of the doorbell unit, and not accessible without dismantling the unit itself to look inside, which would void the warrantee.  I advised [redacted] to contact the company where he had purchased the units, of the possibility that the doorbell unit might be defective.  Nevertheless, [redacted] insisted that I continue working on it.I had spent a great deal of time working on the doorbell unit, which went far beyond the time and amount I had estimated and charged [redacted] for installing it.  I explained to [redacted] that I had only estimated a small and reasonable amount to just replace these intercom units, as we had agreed, and that I have already spent more time on them than I had expected to be spending, and I needed to move on.I had to establish a stopping point with [redacted], because I saw no end in sight to his constant insistence that I continue working on getting the doorbell units to operate to his satisfaction.  And without the doorbell unit functioning properly, the rest of the system wouldn't work properly either.  I had explained to [redacted] that I could not be working on them indefinitely, which is what [redacted] apparently expecting me to do.  And being that I had already replaced the intercom units, with the new units he provided, as we had previously agreed.  I have completed that work, and now needed to move on.Next, I worked on the Bathroom Exhaust Fan.  I removed the cover, and fan & motor assembly from the Exhaust Fan unit housing, and checked for power coming to the Exhaust Fan housing, and then cleaned and tested the fan motor to see if it was bad.  I determined that it was a bad fan motor, and then checked to see if the fan motor I had brought with me, would fit his Exhaust Fan unit, it did not.  My motor was too large to fit his fan & motor assembly.  I returned the fan & motor assembly back into the Exhaust Fan housing, but left the cover off, at [redacted]'s request, so that he could clean it later.  I then explained to [redacted] that the existing fan motor was definitely bad, and would need to be replaced with a fan motor of the same size as his existing unit, and that my fan motor would not fit his unit, it was too large.  I also explained that I didn't know if I could get just the fan motor by itself, or I needed to get the fan & motor assembly together, or even a whole new Exhaust Fan unit.  I told him that I would need to investigate it further, and I would have to get back to him on it.After I had finished all of the work (noted above), and wrapped up my tools and ladder, I wrote up a bill for the work I had completed.  The total of which came to $260.00, and presented [redacted] with my bill for the day's completed work, with an explanation of the charges.  I further explained that normally I ask for an advance towards materials when I provide them, but because it was unknown whether I could get the replacement fan motor by itself or not, I wasn't sure how much I needed to ask for in advance, so I wasn't going to ask for any advance for the fan motor at that time.  Instead I told him that I would need to investigate the fan motor, and get back to him on what I would be able to get, and how much.  I also explained to [redacted], that there would be an additional charge for labor plus materials to return at a later time to replace the fan motor, as a separate job.  I told him, that I would only charge $50.00 to replace the fan motor, plus the materials, instead of my normal minimum charge.  At which point an argument ensued about the bill, the amount, the fan motor, and the additional charges for installing the new fan motor.I explained that the $260.00 charge was only for the work I had completed that day, and showed him the list of completed work on the billing statement, that I was charging him for.  I further explained that I was not asking for an advance towards the fan motor at that time, and I was not charging him to replace the fan motor at that time either.  That to return to replace the Exhaust Fan motor on another day would require payment for that work separately, and he would receive a separate bill for that work.  I also reiterated that I would discount my usual minimum charge to only $50.00 labor.  To which we then argued over his insisting that I surrender to him my purchase receipts from my Electrical supplier.   A highly unusual and unreasonable request.  No business surrenders their purchase receipts to their customers!  [redacted] finally relented, after I told him that my Accountant gets my purchase receipts, not him!  The whole exchange was unbelievable.I handed my billing statement to [redacted], and he then wrote me a check for the $260.00, which I noted on the bill for payment in full, along with the date and check number, and handed him a receipt for the payment (the yellow copy from the billing statement), and I left the premises. The video intercom units were all installed and wired correctly, and in accordance with our previous simple remove and replace agreement.  Nothing more!   Everything worked before I had settled up the bill with [redacted] and left the premises.  Although I had spent more time, at [redacted]'s request, working on the doorbell unit than I had estimated, I DID NOT charge [redacted] anything extra for the additional time spent working on it.I did not charge [redacted] for any work I have yet to do!  I did not seek an advance payment from [redacted] towards materials I have yet to provide!  And I did not take any part of the existing Exhaust Fan with me for comparison purposes, when I left either!  I had charged [redacted] a fair and appropriate amount for the work he had asked me to do, when I first arrived on that day, and only for services rendered.  I charged [redacted] an installation charge of $45.00 per unit, for each of the three (3) intercom units installed, a total of $135.00, and an installation charge of $45.00 per unit, for each of the two (2) lighting switches installed, a total of $90.00.  And a charge of $35.00, to disassemble, diagnose, and reassemble the Bathroom Exhaust Fan, and nothing more.  A grand total of $260.00 for all of the services I had performed, at [redacted]'s original request on that day, Aug. **, 2015.Despite [redacted]'s claim that he had paid me in full, in advance for parts and labor, for the work to replace the fan motor, and for the replacement of two video intercom units, that sporadically worked.  A total fabrication of the facts!  He conveniently leaves out the third intercom unit (the doorbell unit, which we had all of the problems with), and the two lighting switches I had also replaced first, and I had billed him for, and is on the billing statement.  [redacted] knows this!  Nevertheless, in his complaint, he gives totally false impressions of what actually transpired.   Essentially, what [redacted] is doing with this complaint, is to force me to return to his house and replace the fan motor for the same original estimated amount of $300.00 I gave him before I started of the project.  An amount that would have included the fan motor I had in stock (not the correct one), which I brought with me, only to see if it would fit his fan unit, which did not fit!  In essence, [redacted] is unwilling to pay an additional $35.00 over the original estimated amount of $300.00 for the work, so he is using the Revdex.com as leverage against me, in an attempt to force me to do work for him for free, or for next to nothing.  Which I will not do!Using this means of harassment, [redacted] is also, trying to force me to return and spend more time (free of charge), continuing to fiddling around with those intercom units, because he is unwilling to pay an Intercom and Alarm Contractor to come and service his intercom system.  Instead he is trying to hold me responsible for repairing the issues with them, because I am the Contractor who replaced them.  Ignoring the fact, that I only agreed to replace them, and had only charged him for that work, and nothing more!  And ignoring the fact, that I told him up front, over the phone, and before we met, that I do not work on Intercom Systems.  He was fine with it then, assuring me that they only needed replacing, but now holding me responsible for servicing and repairing them too! [redacted] will have to hire another Electrical Contractor to replace the Bathroom Exhaust Fan motor, which I DID NOT charge him to replace!  And to set the record straight, the new Contractor will NOT be finishing my work!  My work and involvement with [redacted] ended on the day I had billed [redacted] the $260.00, for the work I had performed and completed on that day.  To which I have received payment in full, finalizing my business transaction with him.  The reason why I required an additional charge for the fan motor replacement, (labor plus materials) is because I have NOT charged [redacted] for that work!  Period!  Apparently [redacted] has a problem accept that, and it appears that [redacted] is attempting to force me to do work for him for free, or for next to nothing, and he is willing to do anything to get me to comply.  I will not!  Even his treat to pursue small claims against me to obtain a refund of the amount I had charged him for services rendered, only exemplifies my point.  At this point I will say that this filed complaint with the Revdex.com, and his threats of further legal action against me, constitutes harassment.   And [redacted]'s threats to tarnish my good name and reputation, with all agencies, including the Condominium complex where he got my name from, if I don't capitulate, constitutes slander.  If [redacted] continues to pursue this any further, or takes step to continue to tarnish my good name and reputation, then I will take legal action of my own, against him!  In all the 32 years that I have been in business, I have developed a reputation for honesty, integrity, my skills as a tradesman, my ability for problem solving, and my high level for quality workmanship at fair prices.  Over the years I have developed a following of customers who will stand behind me, and vouch for that fact.      I had charged [redacted] a fairly and appropriate amount, of $260.00, for the work I had performed for him, on August **, 2015.  And even offered him a discount to return to put the fan motor in.  But now he will have to get someone else to do the fan motor replacement work for him.  My only hope, is that he treats the new Contractor with more respect then he has shown me.  And if he continues to slander my name, and harass me further, I will pursue legal action against him.  I am not interested in doing any further business with [redacted].  Period!  And I consider this matter closed!  Larry P[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Dear Revdex.com,This will be my last written submission to you as I can see this isn't making progress. Mr. P[redacted] is a bad contractor, a bad person and a liar without conscience.  I admit that I do not have written documented proof to substantiate my version of the story, but I do believe that when someone reads Mr. P[redacted]'s long winded rants, that they can hear the sound of a desperate man.  No one would invest the time that I have put into this just for the small amount of money that is being disputed.  I feel like a fool for trusting Mr. P[redacted] and paying him what asked for when he had not finished the work.  I am angry that he never returned my calls or came back to finish the work.  Only after I reached out to the Revdex.com, did he surface, and then all he can do is write page after page of nonsense.  Fortunately, I can afford to hire another electrician to finish the work, and I will do that.  I just want to be sure that this is published and goes on record, to warn others, so no other homeowner gets stuck like I did.  Larry P[redacted] is a very dishonest contractor.  I thank the Revdex.com for intervening.  Sincerely,  [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
First, I want to thank the Revdex.com for reaching Mr. P[redacted].  Larry P[redacted] did not return any of my phone calls nor reply to my email prior to my reaching out to you.  I was wondering if something had happened to him since I really didn't expect him to disappear on me.
After reading Mr. P[redacted]’s reply on four plus pages of typed paper, I will take a step back and more articulately tell my side of the story and will specifically challenge statements he is making.  It’s kind of sad.  In the time he spent writing this argument, he could have finished the work at my house!   - In the first paragraph, he states that the original estimate was $300.  That is not true.  He agreed to do all the work for $240.  But he was clever and didn't put this in writing.  His statements on pricing in the 5th paragraph just are not true.  And I told him from the beginning that I was pretty confident that the motor needed replacement.  I told him that this happened 8-10 years ago and thus I was confident it needed to be replaced again (we have lived in the house 17 years).  The $275 + $25 amounts he is stating just aren’t true. - In the first paragraph, he says it is untrue that he failed to return my calls.  The fact is, I made three separate calls, approximately a week apart.  My initial calls left polite messages asking him to please manage my expectations on when he might have the fan motor and be able to schedule a visit to install it.  He has a copy of those messages, I don't.  I sent Mr. P[redacted] an email on September ** (at 1:34 pm), a month after the August ** date when he was at my house, after I became resigned to the fact that he had disappeared and wasn't returning calls nor coming back.  I did this to create a record and I have a copy of that email.  He never replied to it.  It wasn't until the Revdex.com reached out to him that he surfaced.  I will attach a copy of this email here. - Mr. P[redacted] continues to say that I want to force him to do additional work for free.  This is not true.  I reluctantly agreed to pay him the cost of the motor plus $50.00 for installation.  I verbally agreed to this when I wrote him a check for $260, which I admittedly was not happy about since this exceeded the total amount quoted before he started, and he had not replaced the exhaust fan motor.  I did ask for a receipt for the cost of the motor since he said he would charge me what it cost him. There are some contractors that purchase materials for one price and charge customers another. Some contractors identify up front that there will be a mark up of x%.  Others just do it and overcharge the customer.  I didn't think it was unreasonable to ask to see backup.  In the 15th paragraph of Mr. P[redacted]’s statement, he admits that he refused to show me what the cost of the fan was.  Why? Perhaps because that would limit the amount he could overcharge me for it.  Perhaps. - The middle paragraphs of Mr. P[redacted]’s statement go on and on and on about the doorbell problem.  He very much exaggerates.  Then, Mr. P[redacted] states in capital letters, “I DID NOT charge [redacted] anything extra for the additional time spent working on it.”, but of course he did.  The price quoted when I agreed to the work was $240 (including for replacing the fan motor).  He charged me $260 and did NOT replace the bathroom fan motor.  He goes on to itemize and breakdown his $260 pricing in detail in his statement, but of course this is the first time I am seeing this, and to even comment on his self justification would be a waste of time. The reality is, Larry P[redacted] quoted a lump sum price before being awarded this project, and when he demanded payment, the price changed.  There are a few correct truths in Mr. P[redacted]’s statement and I will acknowledge them here. - In the 2nd paragraph, Mr. P[redacted] states that he replaced two wall switches, supplied by me.  That is true.  No dispute.  And they are working fine.  That work was part of the $240 amount that we verbally agreed to. - In the 4th paragraph, Mr. P[redacted] states that he suggested that the new power supply should be installed, but that I said it didn't need to be changed. This is true, and it appears that Mr. P[redacted] was correct. When Mr. P[redacted] packed up to leave, with the doorbell unit malfunctioning, Mr. P[redacted] suggested that I call the Aiphone company.  I did.  And I spoke to someone in technical support who said I should change the power supply plug and said it is very possible that this is the reason for intermittent failure in the performance of the unit.  On my first follow up call to Mr. P[redacted], when I asked about when he would have the fan motor, I mentioned this and said that the power plug should be changed.  I also wrote this in my email. Again, Larry P[redacted] never returned my calls nor responded to my email.Larry P[redacted] goes on in the 20th paragraph, to complain that I am utilizing the Revdex.com to save $35.00.  This is all very sad and pathetic.  The electric plug for the new video intercom system needs to be installed, as Mr. P[redacted] initially suggested. That and the replacement of the fan motor for the agreed amounts are all I expected Mr. P[redacted] to finish.  I agreed when Mr. P[redacted] left the house, to pay him the cost (the actual cost) of the new fan motor, plus $50.00 additional for labor, to replace the fan motor.  Then he walked out the door with my check, never to finish the job.  He clearly had no intention of calling me nor of finishing the work.  At this point, I don't think it is a good idea for Larry P[redacted] to come back to my house.  Instead, I would prefer a partial refund, that I will need to use to pay to another electrician to finish the work.  Something in the nature of $100 would seem appropriate as I expect another electrician to have a $150 minimum charge.  If the Revdex.com can encourage Mr. P[redacted] to issue this refund, I would be most appreciative.Sincerely,[redacted]
