Per the instructions of Safety Recall [redacted] our service advisor informed the customer (per Federal Recall instructions) that a crack was present in the axle and a replacement is available at the Ford discounted price of $[redacted].
The customer declined the repair and apparently found a dealer who would do the repair in violation of the Federal recall instructions.
We are sorry that any misunderstandings occurred, but we are bound by both Ford Motor Company and Federal Safety recall guidelines to abide by program instructions.
