Larry's Towing & Recovery Reviews (3)

Review: Jan 20 around 8 pm, I was pulled out of a ditch in [redacted] in [redacted] by Larry's Towing and Recovery Service. They asked for $125. I gave them $140 for lack of smaller bills but they did not give me change. They gave me their number if I needed anything. Days later I checked my insurance and found out I have towing coverage. Feb 1st, I called up their number ([redacted]) to request for an official receipt so I can file claim with insurance. I sent the details to them via email and confirmed they got it and promised to send the receipt through the mail. After a weekm I followed up by phone and said they did sent it over the mail. Feb 9, I followed up by email but got no response. Since then I have been calling them again and again (which is a pain as I need a lot of luck to speak to representative as the answering machine always picks up, telling me to leave my name and number but never called back). Feb 11, sent another email and still no response. It has been almost a month now and they have not sent the receipt yet. This morning, Feb 24, I was told by representative that their office manager is going to call me back but never did so I decided to file this complaint.Desired Settlement: Fulfill their obligation by sending me the official receipt.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that their response is a lie.

The receipt was never mailed nor was it emailed. I challenge them to show me proof of the email and how much did they actually write in the receipt. I kind of given up already because they always say that their accounts payable officer will call me back for any updates but never did that's why I told [redacted] about my problem with them. KC of [redacted] worked on getting the receipt and she also had a hard time getting it as she would always get promises of sending the receipt. However, KC said she finally got the receipt and filed my claim on my behalf last week. I paid $140 to their crew and I was told that they promised [redacted] to send the receipt in the amount of $75, which is kind of ok for me as I can only claim $50 from the insurance. But, bottom line is, they are liars and ruthlessly dishonest. Attached is the email thread sent to them which they never bother to respond.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This is the very first time I have seen the receipt. However, things are still not in order.1. The vehicle involved is a Ford Ranger 1994 and not a Honda CRV2. I have paid $1403. They have no proof that they actually sent the receipt through mail.4. They have no proof either that they sent the scan copy through the emailThey coul have just admitted it they they really failed to respond to me. It was only when All State called them up that they begin to respond, and not very promptly, to say the least. This company is really just making untruthful statements. Shame on them!!!!

Review: This company picked up my vehicle as a result of a repossession. My husband and I paid the vehicle off and it was released by the lein holder. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle we paid the outrageous fees and were given the keys to the vehicle. When the vehicle was started the check engine light was on (has never been on before), the low fuel light was on (the vehicle had fuel when it was picked up), it was apparent that the battery had been removed because my clock was incorrect and all the preset in the car were gone, and also the vehicle had a different oil dip stick in it. I was told the vehicle was not entered or messed with in any way but my daughters car seat base was unhooked and thrown in the floor. I called the owners wife and questioned these issues. She continued to lie to me and said they did nothing to the vehicle. She mentioned having pictures, etc and I asked to see them and also complained that the employee who took our money and released the vehicle would not give us a receipt. After asking for these 2 pieces of information she hung up on me and will not answer the phone or return messages to myself or my husband.Desired Settlement: Truthful explanation of what was done to the vehicle. Would like the business to pay for diagnostic check to see why check engine light is on. Would like car specific dip stick replacement. Would like itemized receipt and more than anything an apology for lying about what they have done and their poor customer service.

We received the repossession order for [redacted] and [redacted] on a 2011 Hyundai Sonata on 4/21/16. The unit was repossessed 4/22/16 from [redacted] and no one was home so driver was advised to go ahead and repossess the unit without the key. During the repossession the next door neighbors/relatives came out and was trying to take belongings out of the unit. The debtors father lives at [redacted] The unit was brought back to our lot where the personal property was inventoried, condition report completed and pictures taken of the unit. The unit was stored in our secured lot. The client called and said debtors could redeem the unit, they had satisfied the lien w/them. The debtor called on 4/25/16 and made an appointment to redeem the unit on 4/26/16, the fees were given to debtors (these fees are a set fee through the client), and I cut the fees back. The debtors showed up after hours and gave the key to the lot attendant so he could get the vehicle (as we did not have a key to the unit) the debtors looked over the unit (we encourage debtors to thoroughly go over the unit to make sure unit is as it was when repossessed.)The debtors looked over the unit and signed the c/report and releases stating that the unit was in the same condition as when repossessed. There was no issues at this time. Mr. [redacted] called about 2 hrs later and said that the check engine light was on and his cell phone cut out. Then about 1 hr later [redacted] called and said that the battery wires were rearranged and there was a yellow dip stick in the unit. I advised her to call back during business hours and I would speak w/employees to see if they knew anything about this and Mrs. [redacted] starting cursing and her cellphone dropped. I didn't hear back from either debtors. I have attached the condition report that debtor signed, the Vehicle Release Form that debtor signed, and the Personal Property Form that debtor signed also. I spoke w/all my employees and the allegations that these debtors are claiming are false. If you need anything further please feel free to contact me @ [redacted] or via email @[email protected]. Sincerely, [redacted]

Review: Upon realizing I could no longer continue to make payments on a vehicle I purchased, I decided to surrender the vehicle back to the dealership, [redacted] I was contacted by a "[redacted]" with Larry's Towing and Recovery in [redacted] and instructed to bring the car to the local [redacted], where they would pick it up. I was told on several occasions that I needed to leave the vehicle plates/tags on my car so that they could retrieve it, and they would then mail the plates back to me so I could submit them to the DMV for reimbursement. I have called them numerous times and politely inquired about the return of my tags, to no avail. It has been two months now and still no tags. I have contacted them on approximately 10 occasions for my tags, to which they have completely disregarded me.Desired Settlement: I want my VA license plates back that belong to me so I can submit them to the DMV for reimbursement. Each day that goes by that I don't have my tags to surrender, I lose money on the refund I could obtain for them.
