I am an active duty service member(Army). I received a call from Victoria S, a check monitor service fraud unit. She stated that an outstanding loan from a few years back that was sent to her for investigation. She told me that letters had been sent out to my previous mailing address 15 days ago. I have not resided there in over several years. I was told if it was not resolved that I would lose my security clearance, have a warrant for my arrest, flight restriction, I shouldn't have cross the state line of Texas as well. In fear of my military career and name I paid the total sum of $1,355.00. I made a payment to this billing agent(LAT Service) and received what seems to be a legitimate receipt. When I called the number on the receipt it would go to voicemail and I would receive a call back from Victoria S office asking what can they help me with being that it has been already paid. I also asked they can mail the letter that was being sent to my previous addresses to my current, but I was denied it being that I already paid everything was clear. I don't know if this is a scam or not so I have noticed my back as well so it will be on record, being that the charge is still pending. I was also told that the loan would not be shown on my credit report, which I looked for but nothing came up.
