This letter is in response to claim #[redacted] filed by [redacted]. I met and spoke with [redacted] when he came into the club on Thursday, March 15, 2008 to inquire about cancelling his and his wife’s membership. He told me he called months earlier and spoke to a woman to cancel his/her membership....

(no front desk associate  has the authority to say or cancel a member, must be done by a Membership or Front Desk manager). I told him our policy doesn’t allow for him to cancel on the telephone and he needs to come into the club to sign an electronic cancellation form or mail a certified letter. (signed contract attached). His membership continues according to the contract regardless how many times he uses the club or until he cancels according to the agreement. He said no-one told him about our policy (every member is told about the policy when they originally sign up along with the contract). I apologize for any inconvenience, showed him his contract and that is when he said he will pay his balance and cancel his membership. I told him usually there is a 30 day notice and one more payment would usually apply but because of HIS misunderstanding I would waive the past payment (which I did). Since 2005 Latitude Sports Clubs has been one of the elite health clubs in the North Shore and take pride in giving all its member outstanding customer service and top notch health and wellness programs. If you have further questions and/concerns, please contact me at [redacted]

[There is a lot of heresay and fineprint associated with this contract. On the same day I had enter into the gym, due to the lack of support offered if not in person, I saw a new member enroll  and electronically sign a contract and the only mention to the female was that the cancellation required a 30 day notice. No mention of it being in person was overheard as I stood next to her in disbehleif watching history repeat itself. There may be plenty of consumers that go along with this business model without voicing their concerns, but I will not. It’s 2018, not 1998. We are in an era of transparency and consumer rights. If you really want to get a better understanding of how unfair and misleading your practice is, please feel feee to review consumers opinions of your practice - [redacted], [redacted] reviews, etc. I’m voicing my concern here as this has more weight than the other platforms and I am not happy with what’s transpired thus far. Lastly, lately it has been stated that cancellation can occur via certified mail. This was never mentioned in person either, nor does it reflect what I or numerous others are told the numerous times we call in to cease service. Again, the practice is dated and I cannot imagine the hassle you must give towards those that move out of the state or have to leave the country. ]
