Review: Laundry King does not honor their receipts and the manager is rarely on the premises.

On Monday, 10/**/13, I left four (4) women's pre-laundered cotton turtlenecks to be pressed. I was given a receipt describing the items and indicating $6 for the service.

I returned on Wednesday, 10/**/13, and was shown another receipt describing my items and indicating $14 for the service. I was told that the $6 charge was an error. The error was not mine. I left my clothes with Laundry King with the understanding that I would pay $6 for the service.

I asked to speak with the manager, but the manager was not on the premises. I asked the clerk to call the manager, which she did, and the clerk told me the manager said, “$14”. I asked the clerk to call the manager back so that I could speak with him. Again, the clerk called the manager, but the manager refused to talk with me; he said he was driving. (He had just spoken with the clerk).

Further the clerk told me the manager is at the store only on two (2) weekdays and not at all on the weekends. Although I don't remember which two weekdays the manager is at the store, he is there only from 9:00AM until 3:00PM on those days. I leave my home in Brooklyn to go to my office in Manhattan, every weekday, at 7:15AM and do not return home until after 6:00PM. Therefore, I do not have the opportunity to ever speak with the manager face-to-face.

In order for me to have my clothes returned to me, I had to pay the $14. I feel that an injustice has been forced upon me, and I would not recommend that anyone patronize Laundry King.Desired Settlement: I would like an $8 refund, which is due me. I would also like an apology.

The problem has been resolved, there has been a misunderstanding, our employee did not make it clear to the customer that we do not do press only on woman's clothing because this is a Laundromat with 3rd party dry cleaning services and the dry cleaning services do not provide press only for woman's clothing unfortunately.

The customer's items (woman turtleneck) were dry cleaned and pressed but the original receipt was charged only as laundered shirts (shirt on a hanger) which is for man's shirt only, because our employee made the mistake on the receipt; employee changed the ticket for the correct item, customer was unhappy about it so we only charged what was on the incorrect receipt, as soon as I was able to go to the office the matter has been taken care of, an explanation, apology, and refund was given to the customer.

Review: On December **, 2013 at approximately 4:30pm I went to this Laundry to do my personal clothes. While drying my bed sheets and pillow cases sheets I notice the dryer machine was not drying my clothes. I called a service clerk and she stated that I was correct, the machine was not heating up. The female that did not provided a name, requested me to change my bed sheets and pillow case sheets from that dryer to another dryer. While changing the machine to another dryer, I notice a smell of fire all over my sheets. This business dryer was burning my sheets and made yellow stain all over my sheets and destroy the color of the sheets. I told the female clerk to call a manager so he can see for himself about this issue. When the manager came, he said oh it does smell like fire. Then he was more worry about his machine than me as a client. The manager name is [redacted]. and stated to me that it was my fault cause I was suppose to dry my sheets on low and kept accusing me that it was my fault and my problem. I took pictures of my sheets with burned damages, also took picture of his dryer. My bed sheets cost about $50 dollars each in total $200.00 dollars.Desired Settlement: I would like to take this business to court for my bed sheets damages and owner did not apologize. This business did not even offer me a store credit for the damages. [redacted] stated to me that its find to take him to court and that his machine will be inspected and was put out of order. This Manager was very rude and boisterous.

This Laundromat is a public place where you can drop your wash and fold bags and dry cleaning items for us to do the service and also it is a self service location, when customers come to do their own laundry. When they do their own laundry we are not responsible on how they wash nor dry their items, it is at their own risk on how they want to handle their items like amount of detergent, softner, level of wash, cold, hot, warm water, and levels of the heat of the dryer like permanent press, low or high heat, we can not go to each customer and invade their privacy and start checking their items and tell them on how to wash, dry, or handle their items.

This customer came to do self service (to do own laundry), the customer dried the items on high heat which caused the sheets to burn, I checked the sheets and ON THE LABEL said to dry on LOW HEAT, the customer dried the items on high heat instead of low heat. unfortunately I could not undo the damage that the customer caused by not reading the label.

When accidents like this happens (sometimes customers bring rubber items to dry and it melts on the dryer), we are concern for the machine because the damage that can cause to our machine it is very costly and we do not go after the customer to get reimbursement for the damages. But I am sorry if my concern for the machine made less important to your item, it was not my intention. I hope the customer could understand that accidents happen whether from us or from them and we can not take responsibility for something that we did not do (choosing the level of dryer heat).
