Our Patient purchased two pairs of eye wear on 3/The first was to use insurance benefits and as such were required to be manufactured through the Insurance Company owned LaboratoryThe second set was purchased outside of insurance, discounted below 50%, fabricated and mounted at our Practice
laboratory that is internationally recognized for qualityThe second pair was successfully manufactured and dispensed! We were notified after weeks that our Patient's own frame sent to the Insurance Lab to be reused, although carefully handled, had brokenOur team notified patient of the breakage and that the Insurance Company would extend a formulary frame or a $allowance towards non-formulary frameThe Insurance Company would allow an alteration to original claim. In communicating with patient, we understood and wanted to support his desire to cancel the orderThe subsequent request we made on behalf of the patient to cancel the order was denied, as the eye wear was in process with the Insurance CompanyWe were directed to have patient contact the insurance company directly, as it is against their policy to cancel an order in process. Eye wear claims that have resulted in copay's above what is completely covered by insurance benefits have the result of being retracted and subsequently paid from the Practice to the Insurance company So much of eye care and eye wear is regulated by Insurance Companies, as an In- Network Practice we are contractually obligated to follow those rules and regulations! At the time of receiving this notification we have again contacted the Insurance Company and are pleased that as no action had transpired to further patients order, they have cancelled and reinstated his eyewear benefit! We will be contacting our Patient to provide update as to insurance status, also that we will be issuing a refund check for the amount paid towards that pair!
