Laurel Fuel Oil & Heating Reviews (1)

Review: [redacted], the president of Laurel Fuel Oil, called me stupid. Directly, and with pride. He threatened to sue me and said he loves lawsuits.

Here's exactly what happened: I ordered 150 gallons of oil. My tank had 3" of oil in it, which according to my standard chart, and verified by eight years of experience, translates to 14 gallons. Immediately after the fill up, I measured again. I came up with 15". Which is 146 gallons; for a shortage of 18 gallons, or approx. $75 worth at today's prices. I made both measurements in front of the delivery guy. I called to talk it over (within an hour or two of the delivery), and they sent out another guy, who measured the level himself, and he also came up with 15" - again, 146 gallons; 18 gallons short. I called [redacted], and that's when he became angry, irate, illogical, bullying and threatening. It's worth noting that over the years, I have (mis)spent thousands of dollars with this company. Those are the facts.Desired Settlement: I want the $75 back for oil they failed to deliver.

I am rejecting this response because:

This response does, in fact, admit that there WAS NOT, at ANY

POINT 150 gallons of oil in the tank, according to accepted standard

industry practice of measurement, as measured by the COMPANY'S OWN REPRESENTATIVES. The president (and author of the letter) simply goes on to state that he is "100% certain" he delivered 150 gallons of oil, despite this measurement being verified by HIS OWN EMPLOYEES as coming up short and the fact that he was NEVER PRESENT, claiming some off-site and unsubstantiated measurements he made on his own regarding his truck; completely irrelevant, circumstantial and likely untrue. He also leaves out the part where he threatened to sue me, and wanted to charge me potentially over $1,000 in costs associated with him coming out an pumping my tank out; saying that if HE measured 150 gallons, then he would hold me liable for his costs; completely ignoring the basic logical fallacy that his measurements have been found faulty both by myself and his own employees already.

In short, this letter is an admission of guilt and that he did not deliver 150 gallons as measured by myself and his own employees. It should also be noted that I have had numerous deliveries from this company (and spent thousands of dollars with them), and have never had a measurement come up short before. I have maintained my decorum with this company and it's representatives up until the president (and author of the response letter) became enraged, verbally abusive and uncooperative.

I would like a refund for the oil that wasn't delivered.
