Review: Laurel Awnings are under contract with the [redacted]. to install five awnings on our rooftop area. They came out last week and incorrectly installed several of the 5 awnings. I called 3 times to have a crew come out and reinstall those incorrectly installed awnings. The company sent two men today who refused to reinstall the awnings. I was told they would come back tomorrow. These awnings are around our rooftop pool which opens on Saturday, May 24, 2014. Around 3:45 p.m. today, I received a call from their office. The owner of the company refuses to come back and says he is quitting this job. I find this to be the worst case of customer service I have ever seen. I will have to contract with a new company, on short notice, to have the awnings installed correctly. I might add that Laurel's incorrect installation may cause our awnings to be damaged since we do experience high winds on our roof deck. Any damage will be directly attributed to Laurel Awnings incorrect installation of our awnings.Desired Settlement: I expect any charges for this installation to be waived. I also want other customers of Laurel Awnings to know that this company doesn't stand behind its work and when a customer needs them, they will just walk away. Not the kind of business that deserves another chance.

Attached you will find the annual Awning Service Contract which [redacted] signed on August 27,

Review: had an aluminum awning installed, was good for first year, then started leaking everywhere called them and wanted more money too check the problem out! had been a customer for almost twenty years! Paid for the job, now will have too pay again just too have them look at it! Would rather pay a contractor since I am not happy with their work!!!Desired Settlement: That my awning will do as it's supposed to, and keep my patio dry of water for the handicapped entrance into my home for my son and grandson. Currently they have to wade their wheelchairs through all the water to get into my front door.

Review: I was billed for a total of $944.10 this past Spring for cleaning ($371.00), repairs ($408.10) and put up of awning ($165.00) for season. I paid for the cleaning ($371.00).When the awning was put up for the first time this season and it rained, the water went through the awning. It was like Niagara Falls. I noticed there were small holes in the awning material. I emailed Laurel Awnings with pictures and asked why did you make me have the repairs done (re-stiched) for $408.10 when the awning material has deteriorated after the cleaning to where there are small holes visible to the eye? They asked that if I wanted waterproofing and/or a credit towards a new awning before 7/15/13. I said I'm not interested. I said the waterproofing will not help fix the small holes. It's not really usable now. They said they have no way of knowing the awning condition until it's put up. But they do know that it needed the repairs (re-stitching)?I've exchanged several e-mails with [redacted] at Laurel Awning e-mail contact and they still continue to say they have no way of knowing the awning condition until it's put up for the season. I've asked [redacted] how would they know to do the repairs then? In the meantime, I want to resolve the outstanding balance on my account ($583.57) for put up, repairs, and late fees.Desired Settlement: Credit the invalid charge of $583.57 on my account. I'm only willing to pay the $165.00 of the $583.57 for the put up. But not the repair and late fees.

Mr. [redacted] signed our service contract last fall and requested to have his awning cleaned and repaired. Before we wash our awnings I will check the quality of the fabric and make sure it can withstand the cleaning and repairs process but cannot check the water repellency. After washing the awning I will check for repairs and send a repair estimate. Mr. [redacted] signed this repair letter approving the repairs necessary to hang the awning, not to make it waterproof. Through a few emails with Mr. [redacted] over the winter he asked if the awning would be waterproofed after the repairs were completed and was informed that it would be at an additional charge, to which he chose not to do.

After the awning was put up and it rained Mr. [redacted] did send pictures of his leaking awning. I gave him the option of waterproofing the awning or crediting the charges from the cleaning and repairs towards the purchase of a new awning. I will attach all emails related to this matter between Laurel Awning and Mr. [redacted] and you will see that he has had leaking issues with his awning for the past 2 years. The balance of $583.57 is for the repairs and put up of the awning. There were no problems with the repairs that were done or the put up of the awning so Mr. [redacted] owes for those services.

Mr. [redacted]’s awning is now 15 years old (average life span is 8-12 years) and nearing the end of its life which does make it more susceptible to leaking but it is a fabric awning and never really waterproof but water resistant.

Review: I HAD A AWNING INSTALLED BY LAUREL AWNING IN 5/5/13. IT HAS BEEN LEAKING A FINE MIST SINCE THEY INSTALLED IT. I HAVE CALLED THEM TO REPAIR IT 5 TIMES. EVERY TIME I CALL THEM THEY ARE COMING OUT TO FIX IT BUT THEY HAVE NOT SHOWN UP YET. EVERYTIME IT RAINS HARD I HAVE TO GET MY FURNITURE AND TV OFF THE DECK. NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAVE NT ENJOY MY DECK THIS SUMMER.Desired Settlement: JUST FIXED SO IT DOES NT SPRAY MY DECK WITH A FINE MIST BEFORE SUMMER IS OVER.

When our awnings are manufactured the fabric comes with water repellant in itself however our needle holes are bigger than the thread and it needs time to swell and fill the needle holes. We refer to this process as weathering in and must happen on all fabric awnings. The weathering in has no timeline but usually after 3 to 4 rainy days alternating with hot sunny days the process is complete. Mr. [redacted] purchased a new awning from us in fall of 2012 and the awning was installed on September 25th 2012. After being up for only 6 weeks the awning was taken down on November 6th 2012 and may not have had the proper exposure to weather in over the 2012 season. When we install our new awnings we leave paperwork with the customer explaining this process. That paperwork also explains not to leave items susceptible to damage from moisture under the awning. I will include a copy of this paperwork with this letter. Since Mr. [redacted] has called over the summer this year we have been out to waterproof the awning on June 20th, 2013 and August 5th 2013. I explained to Mr. [redacted] via email last week that we will make one more attempt with the waterproofing solution and if that fails we will need to send his awning to our fabric manufacturer for farther inspection and testing. I also explained to Mr. [redacted] that fabric awnings are never completely waterproof but water resistant and may still leak in heavy rains.?
