Fantastic Service
I had minor foot surgery to remove a deeply impacted needle from my foot at Laurel Regional hospital. The nursing staff were very pleasant to me. I was treated with care and kindness. They made sure to take time to read over all my information/documentation and ensured the surgery room was well cleaned and set up before my surgery started. The anesthesiologist went over all safety precautions making sure I was comfortable and that I fully understood the process of my surgery as well as any risk involved. Overall my experience with Laurel Regional hospital Surgical Unit/team was fantastic. My visit was not rushed, the nurses & surgeon took very good care of me, my surgery went great I didn’t feel a thing! I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone. 10/10

I am begging every human out there to NEVER EVER send your loved ones here. The place is disgusting! Maggots on the sink, toenails under the table. Their physc wars was so bad almost every patient has to sign a 72 hour mandatory release. You are expected to color from 6 am to 9 pm. None of the nurses had any compassion ! Dr y[redacted] was the worst, most ignorant doctor I have ever met. She was rude, nasty and blunt. I wouldn't send my hamster to these people. When you have to beg them to give you something to do or beg the cleaning lady to vacuum there are more issues then them helping with your mental health. I have nightmares about the place. As far as therapy there was none. One group every morning when they felt like it. You were only aloud to go outside in a cement box. People do not go here.

I went to the er at laurel regional hospital at 10:30am yesterday for chest pain. The er gave me "morphine" and heart attack meds just incase. My bp was 205/143 so I got admitted. I went to the 4th floor, where I was made to sit in pain beacuse " there are no pain meds in your chart, Im going to check with the doctor". An echo cardiologist came in and lectured me about buying cigarettes over getting health insurance or at least getting obama care. I didn't know that was the doctors job to question me about insurance. Also when they passed out dinner, I wasn't given a tray until 1/2 hour later. I guess that comes down to insurance too. Peoples needs are met better in a jail or prison, then in this hospital. So after about 2 hours of sitting in pain I decided to take out my iv and heart monitor and I left the hospital in a hospital gown. I was home 45mins before they noticed and called my emergency contact. I guess not having insurance gives them the right to treat me less than human.

Review: On August 8, 2012 our beautiful, healthy daughter was born at the Laurel Hospital. Things seemed to go well. We were told before we left the hospital on August 10, 2012 that we would receive a notice asking for our updated insurance information within 30 days since I specifically told the [redacted] rep that our daughter would be under my insurance policy. The notice never came and due to dealing with the challenges of a newborn and her 15 month old brother at the time, didn’t contact the hospital even though our daughter was added to my insurance within the 30 day period. Instead the hospital erroneously billed my wife’s insurance for our daughter. Had the hospital sent the notice to us like we were told by the [redacted] rep, the bill would have been paid by my insurance. Then in October 2013, more than a year later we received a bill for $1,776.24 from [redacted] Health System. For the past 7 months we’ve received several notices. I’ve submitted documents proving that we have insurance coverage yet the claims were denied each time. Each time we receive a different excuse from the [redacted] Health representative never the same reason. We were even told earlier that the situation should be taken care of by a [redacted] Health rep. after submitting documents. The [redacted] Health representative would give untruthful information to my [redacted] insurance rep, which led to the claim being denied each time. We feel that the service received from [redacted] Health in this matter is not only unprofessional and unethical, but is a blatant example of incompetence. We have names and dates of the people we talked to. I am a taxpayer and voter and feel that the service exhibited from [redacted] Health Systems is a poor representation of not only Maryland, but of the American health system as a whole. The bill for $1,776.24 should have been paid, but it wasn’t and now we are on the hook for something that we can’t afford. I’m writing you asking for your assistance in settling this in a fair, honest manner. My objective is not to get anyone fired. We just want to settle this in a fair and honest manner. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.Desired Settlement: Determine a way to cover the bill for $1,776.24.
