Review: I was referred to Lauren B Cohen by [redacted] legal services which I subscribe to via my employer. With my[redacted] benefit I was to get an hour of consultation with Mrs. [redacted] at no charge. I then was to get a discounted [redacted] rate for her services. I signed a retainer and paid Ms. [redacted] $800 retainer fee. The services retained were for consultation for a NJ resident as I live out of state. I had two short phone calls with Ms.[redacted], one in the April 2013 timeframe and then again in November 2013 which would be within in my[redacted] benefit. She never followed up with any of the email information and questions I sent her. Not even a reply. I then sent her a letter to terminate the retainer agreement and get are refund on December 10th, 2013. I never got a reply, interim billing on work (if any performed) and I never received a refund of my unused retainer. I have received no correspondence from her since I retained her. Every other attorney I have ever worked with sent monthly billings against the retainer for work performed. I then reached out to[redacted] for help as Ms. [redacted] was a referred attorney. After a few calls to [redacted] they said that they too are getting no response from Ms. [redacted] and that I should file a complaint with the [redacted]. They also said they have since dropped Ms. [redacted] from their referral list of attorneys. I no longer need the services of Ms.[redacted]. I also sent a registered letter again asking for a refund on February 14th. The post office says it arrived in NJ on February 19th for pick-up. It is now February 25 and it has not been signed for. I have also sent Ms. [redacted] emails with my same letter with no response.Desired Settlement: I would like for Ms. [redacted] to terminate the retainer agreement as requested and refund the $800 that was paid to retain her for work that was never performed.

Review: I called Ms. Lauren Cohen for her legal services. She told me, for her to start filing paper work, she would need a deposit of $560.00. She told me over the phone what paper work to gather up and come to her office/house with it. So I went to her office/house with the paper work she told me to gather up and a check for $560.00. When I arrived at her office/home, she had forgotten I was coming & she was trying to start her car to take her granddaughter somewhere. She asked if I can push her car to level ground so it would start, I did, and it didn't. She then asked if I would go fill a gas can for her, I did, I poured it in her car and the car started. She then took a quick look at my paper work & said it was all wrong. She took the check and told me to come back when I had the proper paper work. She then cashed my check. I then called her to cancel her services & asked when will I get a refund. She stated, that her secretary will mail it out. I am now waiting for two years and every time I call she says the same thing. When I filed a case in small claims, she failed to show up. Now she's in default, how can an attorney do this? If you can't trust an attorney, who can you trust?Desired Settlement: All I want is a refund of my money. This lawyer did not perform any services for me, if anything, I performed services for her.
