There was confusion as to whether we serve [redacted] new home. This happens a lot as we serve in 7 counties with duplicate street addresses, some we serve some we don't.
In the confusion, [redacted] paid a bad debt she owned to LEC. It is not LEC's position to pay back a payment of a bad debt owed...
to us by a past customer.
Below is the response of our CSR Manager to [redacted]. I am also including her billing statement from 2009 for reference to the bad debt she owed LEC.

Good afternoon. I am contacting you about your service at [redacted]. I understand you applied for service in which we, as well as you and your landlord, assumed that we were the provider. We do provide service at [redacted] in which we believed you to be moving there. We do have service territory over 7 counties in which some road names are the same names but different towns.
I have attached a copy of the final bill that you owed Laurens Electric for [redacted]. Your final bill was $374.10. Some capital credits have been applied towards that debt which left you owing a balance of $367.48. We do show this was paid on December 08 and 23, 2014.
I apologize for any confusion between you and Laurens Electric. We were not misleading you just so we could receive the debt that was owed to us. Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund the money to you since it was owed to Laurens Electric.
