Lauren's Shar-Pei

We bought a puppy from Lauren's Shar Peis. When the puppy was 8 weeks old, we drove from SC to FL to pick him up. When we arrived she informed us that our puppy had an umbilical hernia. She said it was due to the mother being rough during delivery and it would go away. If it didn't, she would refund us the cost of it's repair. Having driven so far and of course falling instantly in love with the puppy, we trusted in her expertise and accepted the puppy. When we returned to SC, we went to the vet for a check-up. We were informed that the hernia was hereditary and that our very expensive puppy should not be allowed to breed and should be neutered to prevent the trait from being passed ** further. 3 vets and our internet research confirmed this. The puppy also had an ear infection and worms. When we told [redacted] this, she said that her puppies had such excellent other traits that the hernia was minor and not to worry about it. As for the hernia, it did not go away and we paid $500 for its repair. Even with 3 estimates for repair, [redacted] stalled repayment. A year later, she has still not reimbursed us for the surgery. I do not recommend this breeder. A quality breeder would have informed us about the hernia upon initial contract and not waited 8 weeks. The price should have reflected the condition as well. Then we could have made an informed decision before driving down and having our daughter fall in love with the puppy immediately.

I purchased my 8wk old pup in 5/2015 & she has been under continuous lab testing, medical & surgical treatment since her initial exam at the Vet (VCA, JAX FL) in 5/2015. The vet has found her to have:
5/2015- bilateral ear yeast & wax-packed ear canals. Botched eyelid repairs. Worm infestation (I saw them when Lauren's "delivery friend" handed her to me. Scaly, hairless skin patch on her left arm. Vaginal infection.
6/2015- urinary tract infection. Urine turned to blood. 1/2016- Heart worm infestation on routine exam & testing.
Lauren declined to do the contract-guarantied vet exam before delivering my pup-she said it wasnt necessary, became extremely rude/upset with me & my calls & provided N O documents on the health of her. With this continuous illnesses history, all the money Ive spent & other issues experienced, I deserve a partial refund since Lauren did not do the pre-sale vet's exam guaranteed, which would have found the illnesses presented to me with my pup.
