Complaint[redacted] Laventure is a contractor I hired to do, among other things, an installation of my new kitchen cabinets, which I paid around [redacted] for. On some upper cabinets, [redacted] was to install them so that under-cabinet lighting could be subsequently installed. The electrician provided a diagram, marked the walls and also provide a walk-through of the 3 steps to follow. [redacted] confirmed he understood several times. There were TWO PEOPLE home on [redacted] 2015. [redacted] asked several questions, but never asked one about this process. Instead, he HACKED, not cut, huge holes in the drywall, pulled the wires through way too high, and then HACKED, not drilled, corresponding holes in the middle back of two cabinets and in the middle side of a third cabinet. He had already pulled these wires into the middle of the cabinet FOR UNDER THE CABINET LIGHTENING. The holes made were hacked by brute force. The damage was discovered and pointed out to him immediately and there was much upset. He apologized, but stated that he could not repair the damage. He did not want to even pull down the cabinets, and correct the install. He was told to stop working on those upper cabinets until we contacted the electrician. [redacted] came back the next day to finish. He was told by me to leave the damaged cabinetry alone, that the electrician would come and make a new plan with me. He said he was clear and had doorways to trim. He finished. He left. Later, I saw that he had in fact taken down one of the damaged cabinets from the prior day, re-installed it poorly, but the wire was now beneath the cabinet. He had also installed the built-in microwave, and HACKED yet another hole in another upper cabinet for the plug, in the wrong place. Now I have a plug in the middle bottom of the wrong cabinet.Desired Settlement[redacted] has stated that the cabinet damage cannot be repaired. [redacted] girlfriend ([redacted]) pointed out marks on the wall and said wires needed to be pulled out for under cabinet lights.I asked her if the marked height was correct she said yes and they get pulled through bottom of cabinet. I drilled a 3/4 inch hole in the back of 3 upper cabinets for wires. the drilled holes do not show at all from outside view. This install was done to the highest standard's of quality, the kitchen looks beautiful and the client is wrong about the microwave. The cord goes through the cabinet above it to outlet in cabinet. all work done by me was by request of client. also I was working by the hour for them as a favor I did not contract this job. Consumer Response The contractor's response is not even relevant to the complaint. He is responsible for the damage he did. [redacted] Laventure hacked huge holes in new drywall and in new cabinets, sides and bottom. He asked no questions. For example, he hacked a hole in one cabinet for the microwave to be plugged in, and the plug in is another cabinet. He made a mess that in his own words cannot be repaired. So, I am seeking repair of my drywall, replacement of my cabinets that he destroyed, and the cost for proper installment of these new cabinets.
