I met with the client initially in my office the day she retained me. We met for at least an hour and discussed her case and how to proceed. She was upset because a case worker from family services was involved and she asked me to contact that person. I called the number she...
provided at least two times over the next couple of days to speak to that person and never received a return call. Family services as well as the Judge in our case had my client on a no contact order regarding her daughter because of an allegation of abuse. I appeared in court with my client on the first setting and had the Judge remove the no contact order regarding her daughter. I informed my client that the order had been lifted but we still needed to get the Division of Family Services to also remove their no contact order. My associate attorney appeared with the client on the next court appearance. The client showed up for court late and had her daughter with her as well as her mother. The case was set for trial that day and we were ready to proceed. The client wanted to speak with the prosecutor but that wasn't possible since she was represented. She continued to argue about what had been done or not done with this case. She had a disagreement with the attorney and after about an hour plus of speaking with her and the prosecutor the client asked us to withdraw. The attorney had to approach the court and ask for permission to withdraw. The client had the child who was a witness for the city hide in the back of the courtroom so when the city called for the witness she didn't initially respond. My office left the courtroom at that time and didn't stay for the result of the hearing. I found the client to be very unreasonable and difficult to deal with throughout the entire process. My office was ready and prepared to proceed with trial on the second court date. My staff answered her questions and calls and at one time my paralegal requested that she contact family services and give them permission to speak with my office. Thank you. [redacted]
