We
are sorry that *** *** is unhappy with the process, but the transcript
receipt and summarization policies are established by the law schools

to be used in their admissions evaluations. That is why we advised her to
have the international transcript sent to LSAC for processing

Dear [redacted]:
This is in response to [redacted]’s
rejection of our recent response regarding his inability to attend the February
2014 LSAT due to a family medical emergency.
Our refund and test date change policies
are clearly listed on our website (www.lsac.org).
There are no test date changes after the stated
deadlines. As stated previously, our policies apply to all methods of
registration and are enforced without exception.
In addition, **. [redacted] completed his
LSAT registration online.  Part of the LSAC’s online checkout process
includes a section called “Authorizations”.  In that section it states
that by clicking the “checkout” button at the bottom of the screen,  “You
certify that you have read LSAC Policies and agree and bound by their terms. Note:
If you later decide not to take the LSAT or cancel your Credential Assembly
Service (CAS) registration, you will be subject to LSAC’s refund policy.”

We have thoroughly reviewed all of the
information **. [redacted] has submitted to LSAC and we see no basis for making an
exception to our policies and procedures.
Sincerely,

Dear [redacted], Please let this serve at LSAC’s response to the complaint submitted from the Revdex.com on March 30th, 2017. This applicant registered for the June 2017 LSAT on March 9th, 2017. During the LSAT registration process, applicants must confirm that they have read the Notice...

for LSAT Registrants, certify that they have read the LSAC Policies & agree to be bound by them, and are also aware that they will be subject to LSAC’s Refund Policy should they choose to cancel their registration at a later date. They cannot complete their LSAT registration without checking that they certify that they have read the Notice for LSAT Registrants. A link to LSAC’s refund policy is provided during the registration process, and states that the LSAT registration fee is only partially refundable, due to the fact that processing costs are incurred in the registration process regardless of whether the applicant actually takes the test. Links to LSAC’s refund policy, and all LSAT & Credential Assembly Service fees are provided below. http://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/lsat-cas-refunds http://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/lsat-cas-fees All LSAT partial refund requests must be received by the listed receipt deadlines for each administration, and these are listed on our website here. When an LSAT partial refund request is received by the stated deadline, the registrants LSAT registration is then canceled, and they are granted the partial refund of $50. On the partial refund request form, it is again stated that LSAT fees are only partially refundable due to the fact that processing costs are incurred in the registration process, regardless of whether the registrant actually takes the test. Those requesting the partial refund must sign & date the partial refund request form, confirming that they authorize LSAC to process the refund of their LSAT registration, certify that they have read LSAC’s policies, are aware that their account will be refunded, and that their registration will be canceled in accordance with the published refund policies. Please find a copy of the partial refund request form attached. As such, all LSAT registrants are made aware of the LSAT partial refund policy when they register to test, and also when they submit the partial refund request form should they choose to do so. This policy applies to all LSAT registrants who elect to cancel their LSAT registration by the partial refund request receipt deadline for the LSAT administration they’ve registered for. We hope this information is helpful, and please let us know if you require any additional information. Best Regards, Chris B[redacted] Candidate Communications Analyst

This is in response to complaint ID [redacted]  in which the complainant
stated “I need LSAC to immediately register me to take the LSAT test for
JUNE 2014.” In response to an email we received
from her,  we notified her on May 28 that we had granted a  onetime
exception and registered her for the test
after the registration deadline.  Our
records further show that she was sent a reminder email on May 30, 2014 regarding her June LSAT
registration and that she printed her admission
ticket for that LSAT on June 6, 2014.

Every LSAT exam registration period has both a regular, and late registration deadline. All candidates who register for the exam during regular...

registration are required to pay the registration fee of $175 in order to register. Candidates who register during late registration must then pay the late registration fee of $72, along with the $175 registration fee. [redacted] was approved for LSAC’s fee waiver on 3/10/2014. Each approved LSAC fee waiver includes two LSAT registrations free of charge, however late registration fees are not covered by the fee waiver and still must be paid. The fee waiver also includes free registration for LSAC’s Credential Assembly Service (normally a $170 registration fee), a free copy of the LSAT Super-Prep (normally a $24 publication) and four free law school reports (normally $30 apiece). Please refer to the link provided below for complete information regarding fee waiver policy, and what it includes.

[redacted]

On May 12th, [redacted] spoke with Barbara, an LSAC candidate services supervisor, and was told that the late registration fee could not be waived, as it is not covered by the fee waiver. She also informed him that he had until May 13th, by 11:59 pm eastern time to register for the June 2015 LSAT. Barbara gave him her direct phone number to contact on May 13th if he wanted to register over the phone during business hours. She noted in his file that she was expecting him to call her the morning of May 13th in order to register. She did not hear from [redacted], so she called him directly to attempt to see if he wanted to register for the June LSAT, but got no answer. She then left him a message, informing him that he could register online through his account up until 11:59 pm eastern time on May 13th. Candidates may register online through their accounts, or may do so over the phone with a representative. Online registration can be completed at any time, as long as registration is still open.

[redacted] did not call LSAC again until 5/15/2015, after the late registration deadline had passed. At no point did Barbara say that she would provide an ‘override’ to register him for the June LSAT. Further, no such action is possible. Once the late registration deadline has passed, no one may register for the LSAT exam for any reason. This policy is enforced without exception. [redacted] had over 24 hours after speaking with Barbara on 5/12 to register for the June exam.

As stated previously, LSAC’s fee waiver includes four free law school reports. Once all four have been used, the $30 report fee is then applied for all subsequent reports to be sent out. [redacted] asserts that the report fee was applied after he submitted his complaint, however that is not the case. Our records indicate that his four free law school reports had all generated, and were sent out prior. One report was sent on 3/16/2015, one was sent on 4/1/2015, and two were sent on 4/8/2015 respectively. The law school report fee was then applied because all four of the free reports had already been used.

On 5/15/2015, [redacted] spoke with Barbara again and insisted on speaking with another supervisor. He was called back several minutes later by Mary, another supervisor in candidate services. Mary disconnected the phone call after repeatedly being told to stop talking by [redacted].

LSAC is committed to providing courteous, accurate, and professional service to candidates. At no point was [redacted] spoken to rudely, unprofessionally, combatively, confrontationally, or provocatively, in [redacted]’s words. He was given very clear information regarding the fee waiver, the late registration fee, and the late registration deadline.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Dear [redacted], I would like to request then; where on their website there is terms and agreement, which explicitly states, “It is the candidate’s responsibility to be aware of the refund policy and deadlines associated with their LSAT registration.”  Instead, the representative pointed to the whole of the website. “The excerpt that the candidate provided in his communication to you is incomplete.”  Please note that the representative intentionally misrepresented in her statement by showing a page not displayed, when registering for the LSAT or one added later.  I have taken the liberty of attaching a screen shot of the page and the quote that addresses the December exam. http://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/test-dates-deadlines/2016-2017/us-canada-dec. This page refers only to deadlines and although helpful does not appear in the process of registering for the exam. “The candidate also referenced in his response information from our webpage regarding withdrawing your registration up until the day before the exam. The information provided by the candidate regarding this is also incomplete. The complete statement on our website regarding withdrawal of an LSAT registration is as follows:  “After the Test Date Change and LSAT Registration Refunds deadlines have passed, you will be able to withdraw your registration on the LSAT Status page of your LSAC.org account. This option will be available until 11:59 pm (ET) the night before the test. If you withdraw your registration, you will not receive a refund. You will be required to pay the full registration fee if you register for another test date.”” This complete statement is again on a different page presented to me when registering or seeking to withdraw.  I have also provided screen shots that actually prevented me from withdrawing on the 9, and 10th. Would it not have been simpler to maintain good customer service to direct me to where I could have received a refund, or warned me of an impending deadline?  Would LSAC not have been more judicious to place a warning on the front page?    http://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/withdraw-test-registration “As previously stated, the LSAT refund policy and deadline information was available to the candidate on our website. It is unfortunate that the candidate did not review that information in a timely manner to meet the deadline; however, the deadline has now passed and a refund cannot be issued.” As with previous statements made by LSAC, they seem to place all the responsibility on the candidate who is the customer and none on their methods of communication or lack there of. Please note that this complaint been filed with the Attorney Generals of the state of Pennsylvania and Delaware.  I am also filing a complaint with the FTC and will be filing a complaint in small claims court in Miami Dade County. Respectfully yours, [redacted] Future JD Student

Complaint: [redacted]
Dear Mia,
Thank you for your response, but I must reject it.
Allow me to elaborate once more on the blunt guidelines that can be found on your website - [redacted]international-transcripts. International transcripts do not need to be submitted if, and I quote, 1. "your bachelor's degree is from a US, US territory, or Canadian school". My bachelors degree is from a US school, [redacted] - [redacted] to be exact. The guideline further states that along with the fulfillment of the requirement above, one needs to meet one of the two following factors in order to not have to send international transcripts to CAS, and I quote again 2. "the total amount of work you completed at all international institutions combined is equal to or less than the equivalent of one year of undergraduate study in the United States, its territories, or Canada, OR [3.] your work was completed through an overseas study program that was clearly sponsored by a US, US territory, or Canadian school."
The length of my studies abroad equal to one year, thus we can now agree that I meet two out of three requirements above, keeping in mind that only two out of three (one of which being that the degree must be from a US university) need to be met in order to not have to submit international transcripts. Adding the cherry on top, I meet the third requirement as well: my study abroad experience was completed through a program sponsored by my university in the US. To summarize, I meet 3/3 out of the 2/3 factors that need to be met in order to not have to submit international transcripts. I was put through hell because LSAC staff are not aware of the rules by which they are government, rules set forth by LSAC.
It is also note worthy, and something that I shared with staff during my many conversations with them, that when I was filling out the applications online, I did include the University of Haifa as one of the universities which I attended, by was told by an automatic prompt that I should not because the length of the program abroad did not exceed a year, leading me to remove the mention of the university abroad.
Additionally, what you say about the law schools needed these transcripts is not true, at least not for the ones I applied to. I reached out individually to the law schools that I have applied and inquired whether or not they require such documents, to which the promptly concluded that they do not, and that my file was complete prior to you even receiving the international transcripts.
I appreciate that the guidelines of waiting three weeks for the transcripts to be authenticated was bypassed somehow, and that I did not have to wait a month for my file to be complete and the repugnant letter claiming that I failed to include that I attended a university abroad to be removed.
My conscience does not allow me to let this go, and put others like me in harms way. I could demand that your refund the $42 that I had to pay to rush the transcripts to your from the other side of the world, as the request for these transcripts is without foundation, but I will not because money is just money, you can never have enough and it will always come and go. What I do want is an apology and assurance that the staff will be re-trained on this, so that other applicants will not have to go through what I encountered.

Review: LSAC has RUINED MY LIFE!! On May 20 2014 I called LSAC Customer Service to see if I had been assigned a testing center yet for the upcoming JUNE 2014 LSAT and was told that I was NOT registered! I requested to speak with a supervisor and [redacted] came on the line - After I painstakingly explained my extenuating circumstances to "[redacted]" she state that "Oh well, there is nothing I can do to help you because the deadline to register to take the LSAT was a couple days ago." I then asked for corporate office so I could write a complaint but [redacted] refused to give me the information . [redacted] told me to write a complaint and send it to her! LSAC has failed me and is doing a grave disservice to some of its customer’s -such as myself. I am simply an individual who merely wants to take the LSAT so that I can attend law school as scheduled this August 25, 2014 at [redacted] Law School. Although I actually registered with LSAC to take the LSAT for the June 2014 date – LSAC’s system is faulty and it somehow cancelled my registration! In addition, I am extremely disappointed with the poor customer service and handling of my LSAC registration by customer service and the LSAC accounting department. LSAC's negligence and poor handling of my LSAT registration will now result in my law school admissions application being DENIED due to the fact that LSAC has erroneously dropped me from taking the June 2014 LSAT - which is a requirement for [redacted] Law School.

I registered to take the LSAT test on April 4, 2014 – well before the registration deadline. I also contacted various departments within LSAC at least 5 times prior to the May 16, 2014 (LSAC registration cutoff date for June 2014 test date) and yet no one from LSAC stated to me that for whatever reason, the test date that I registered for (June 2014) was obliterated from the LSAC website!

Unfortunately, LSAC has a monopoly on the LSAT and law school students have no other choice but to deal with the inefficiency and poor customer service of LSAC. It is a shame because it (LSAC’s monopoly) can either work for you or against you – in either case, LSAC is in a position of power to impact many many people’s life’s.

*4/04/14 I contacted LSAC customer service because I was concerned that with the JUNE 2014 LSAT test I had just registered for….the LSAC fee owed had doubled to over $300 dollars due to a previous LSAT balance from 2012. I called and emailed the department (please see attached email) and in the email I clearly stated that I had registered for the June 2014 test and that my recent balance was over $300 – which proves that I was registered to take the test for June 2014!

*4/04/14 LSAC Accounting responded to my email about the outstanding balance and stated that the 2012 balance of $160 was taken off my account however the previous test date of 2012 would still be listed and that there was no way to clear that from my account (please refer attached email). Again, no one from LSAC bothered to mention to me that I was in jeopardy of losing my registration for the upcoming JUNE 2014 LSAT test date!

*4/09/14 I contacted LSAC Customer Service because the LSAT June 2014 indicated that the test site location that I selected was closed and that I was on the WAIT LIST. I contacted LSAC to ask for a more detailed explanation as to what exactly this meant. The customer service rep was rude and attempted to rush me off the phone. She stated that there was nothing that she could do in terms of guaranteeing a seat for me at my desired testing site. I asked her to please pull my account number (because the LSAC representative was speaking in generalities) and I gave her my information. The representative re-stated to me that LSAC could only guarantee that I would be able to take the test for JUNE 2014 however LSAC would place me at another testing location within a 100 mile radius. I replied to her that that was fine. I thanked her and hung up. Again, this representative at no time stated to me that I was not registered to take the test JUNE 2014 nor did she indicate that I needed to do anything else to secure my test date.

*4/2014 I faxed off the requested tax forms to LSAC for approval of LSAT fee waiver.

*5/12/14 LSAC notified me via email that my LSAC file had a hold due to not receiving tax info – AGAIN, nothing mentioned about my not being registered to take JUNE 2014 LSAT

*5/12/14 I IMMEDIATELY contacted LSAC to inquire about the necessary documents. I spoke with a nice gentleman who informed me that LSAC had indeed received the 2013 tax documents that I had previously faxed but however, they need my 2012 tax documents because of the way that the months overlap. This LSAC customer service representative was nice and informative. I stated to him that I would fax the information off to him immediately because I wanted to ensure that I was all clear to take LSAT JUNE 2014. [redacted]Please note that this was on May 12th…FOUR DAYS BEFORE THE MAY 16TH DEADLINE FOR JUNE 2014 LSAT TEST DATE!! Had I been informed about my registration status I could have easily corrected any problem..however, I was never afforded that chance[redacted]

*5/13/14 I faxed 2012 tax documents to LSAC in support of my fee waiver

*5/14/14 LSAC notified me via email that my 2012 documents were received and my fee waiver was APPROVED! Again, nothing about my NOT being registered for the June 2014 test date

Good Morning,

Please remove the $160 FINANCIAL HOLD that is on my LSAC Account. My Account LSAC #: Lxxxxxxxx - and in April 2012 I registered to take the JUNE 2012 LSAT and I applied for a fee waiver. Due to an unexpected family crisis, I was unable to continue my law school application process. I never took the LSAT in JUNE 2012 - therefore I would like the $160 registration fee removed from my account as soon as possible.

Recently I have registered for the upcoming LSAT for JUNE 2014 and my balance is now over $300 because of the previous $160 registration balance from 2012. Please assist me by removing the FINANCIAL HOLD and $160 OUTSTANDING BALANCE from my account.

Thank you

Law School Admission CouncilDesired Settlement: I need LSAC to immediately register me to take the LSAT test for JUNE 2014

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

Review: I contacted LSAC to request help for a system error I had on Friday while trying to sign up for the LSAT test. I tried registering for the test on 01/17 and my computer had a virus in which I had to get repaired. Tried calling for help but they closed at 7 eastern time I'm on central time zone. I then went back on Monday on a different computer and was successful called back again they were closed. I called to explain requesting a extension as the site give seven days for mail in and I explained that I had paid 1000 to prep for the test to sit for the test in Feb and the representative was not trying to help in any way. I have never taking the test so yes I was unexperienced about the due dates. I am willing to pay any late fees I only wanted help to get signed up. The customer service was horrible. I hoping someone can help me as I'm unemployed I spent my last 1000 investing into this test to start school by fall and all I want is a minor day extension to sign up for the test for feb.Desired Settlement: I would like a call to see if we can discuss the registration

Response:

Review: I was scheduled to take the LSAT on February 8th but was unable to because of a medical emergency in my family. The Law School Admissions Council refuses to let me take the test at a later date without paying a new registration fee. The deadline for withdrawing from the test and receiving any sort of partial refund is over three weeks before the test. If someone has a medical issue in those three weeks, they are out $170-235. LSAC makes no accommodations for medical emergencies and forces people to pay a whole new registration fee in order to take the test. They never provided a product for the original payment.Desired Settlement: I would like the opportunity to take the LSAT in June without having to pay a new registration fee.

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

This responds to the complaint referenced above regarding [redacted]'s inability to attend the February 2014 LSAT due to a family medical emergnecy.

As stated in an earlier email response that was sent to **. [redacted] from LSAC, "in order to be fair to every candidate our refund policies apply to all methods of registration and are enforced without exception. "

An addtional email that **. [redacted] submitted to the president of LSAC, **. [redacted], was answered with a response from **. [redacted] stating, "I have reviewed your email and I'm sorry to hear of the circumstances that affected your decision about whether to sit for the administration of the February test. However, I see no basis for changing existing LSAC policies and procedures."
