Most lawn mower shops charge a diagnostic fee deposit. It’s $on a smaller piece of equipment and $on a larger piece. If a repair is to be made, that fee is put towards the price of the repair. If it does not need a repair, that money is the fee for looking at the

Customer lives about three hours away from our store, when he called in to order a deck shell our staff member [redacted] had to call the distributor to see what the process would be for this kind of order. It is not every day that a customer from...

out of town orders such a large ticket item. We are a new dealer to Gravely this season and have never ordered a deck shell before, so we truly did not know how long the order would take, as it would be coming from a truck line and not considered a parts order. We do require payment upfront for special orders, so we had the customer mail in a check before the deck was ordered. When the process took longer than the customer was willing to wait, he called in and cancelled the order. At that time we wrote void on his check and mailed it back to him. The check was NEVER cashed. Customer should be able to check with his bank and see just that. Customer states he never received the voided check, however it would be very possible to look at his banking information and notice that a balance was NEVER deducted. If the customer would like to contact us with his bank information, we will pay out of pocket the fee to have a stop payment issued for him- again, on the check that was never cashed. Customer is requesting a refund on funds that were not deducted at any time. Therefore, there is no refund, as no payment was ever made. This is something that is very clear on banking statements. There is nothing more as a business that we can do on funds never processed to someone out of town than to offer to pay the fee for a stop payment on the check.
