They failed to offer a written contract, sold me half dead plants, failed to honor the 1 yr warranty. Most plants are dead now and tree is almost goneI am a senior citizen,69 yrs old and recently divorced. I called Lawn Gevity in late August, 2012. [redacted], co-owner, came out to offer an estimate of what I needed. I told him of my situation. He told me it would be $5,000.00. I wanted bushes & a tree removed. I asked him for a written contract, he said he would have one when he returned. The workers showed up the next day & started pulling up the bushes. They destroyed the[redacted] box on side of house. When they removed the tree in front they destroyed my yard lights. The wiring was in pieces & 1 yard light was missing. I told them, they had a service come out to fix the problem. Most of the plants were 1" above ground. I received about 10 hosta plants, about 17 bushes of which right now don't look so good. 6 trellis climbing plants that were suppose to bloom, none of them bloomed and today they are dead as well. A ground cover under the existing tree of which more than half died. They carried away the first load of pulled up debris. They left the second load on the curb. About 9-10 months later I called [redacted], the co-owner and left several messages. After about 2 weeks the other co-owner showed up, I showed him the middle of the tree they planted was all brown and dead. He said, "well, the sun doesn't get to the middle of the tree." I showed him the ground cover under the existing tree where more than half were browned and dead. "He asked if I had been watering." I told him I had. He said, "Well then, you may have over watered them." I took him to the back yard, I showed him the dead, I forgot the name, flowering plant. He said not a word! I then showed him the 4 well, can't remember them either! (I am a bit upset) sun-loving flowering plants of which the center of each were brown and dead. Again, he didn't have anything to say except he will talk to [redacted]. I hadn't heard anything after about 2 weeks. So, I called [redacted]. Again left SEVERAL more messages. This went on for about a month. Neither one of the owners called me back. I went to the place on their card. I knocked SEVERAL times, tried the door, it was locked and no cars in the parking lot. I left, I tried calling again to no avail. Today, March-19-2014, a year and a half later all I have left are the brown tipped bushes and the more than half dead tree they planted. I paid them, by check, $5,000.00! All my flower beds in back are EMPTY! I am saddened by the scam they pulled on me. Also, I never received an invoice! I am out $5,000.00 plus all the plants I have to rebuy all the plants this spring. Please don't let any other person go through this nightmare. ~[redacted]~ Desired SettlementI am seeking a refund of the $5,000.00 I put into this shoddy work not to mention all the anguish I went through to try to get this company to do what is right and what they promised.
