We recently purchased a 6‑month‑old British Shorthair kitten from Laziblues, and unfortunately our experience has been deeply disappointing.
After bringing our kitten home and scheduling his neuter, we learned that he has unilateral cryptorchidism—a condition in which one testicle descends normally while the other remains retained in the abdomen. This is not a routine neuter and requires abdominal surgery, which is more challenging, more invasive, and carries greater risk for the cat.
This condition was never disclosed to us prior to purchase. Had we been informed, we would have been able to make a fully informed decision or prepare appropriately. Given his age at the time of adoption, we believe this information should have been shared.
We were also told that he was older because the breeder had planned to keep him for breeding and later decided not to, though no explanation was provided as to why that decision changed. In hindsight, this lack of transparency is concerning.
As a result of this undisclosed condition, what is typically a $150–$400 routine neuter has now become a much more complex surgery, with estimates ranging from $1,700 to $2,400. Beyond the financial impact, our primary concern is the increased medical risk and recovery burden on our kitten—something we never would have expected when purchasing an expensive breeder cat.
We are sharing this experience so that potential buyers can proceed with caution and ask very detailed medical questions before committing. Transparency is critical, especially when there are known conditions that can significantly affect a pet’s health, care requirements, and long‑term costs.
I paid an outrageous amount for my kitten ($ 3,300.00) and kept up with my end of the deal in our agreement but when I requested my registration and pedigree information it was never sent. I asked several times and was told they would check on it. It's been 8 months now.
AGREEMENT
Purchaser(s) may request (orally or in writing) registration and/or pedigree information to be provided to them after the kitten/cat is neutered/spayed, and seller will forward such documentation provided the above condition of proof of neuter/spay has been provided to the seller.
We have been dealing with Zina and LaziBlues since 2003, our twin girls are the 4th and 5th cats we purchased from Zina at LaziBlues, all the cats have been fantastic, and the personal care and love that Zina shows her cats and her customers are why we keep coming back. Look around at the prices for British Blues, there is a huge price difference, she is higher than some and less than some others. I know people selling British Blue kittens closer to me, but they are just not the quality of cats we are looking for, that's why over the decades LaziBlues is where our cats come from, and we are not done yet
Very dishonest pricing! Run, don't walk away from this so called breeder (most of her kittens are imported from the Ukraineyeah real honest paper trail)When you tell her what you are looking for, she starts off with ridiculous pricesOnce I heard what she was asking, I respectfully thank her for her time a moved onBut that wasn't enough for Zina! She started to harass me with emails and [redacted] postsI finally blocked her, but she had to send me one last post on [redacted] before I blocked her there tooI try to stay away from crazy people, but these days it's becoming impossible
