Replaced underground water line unnecessarily. Proceeded to destroy bathroom looking for the leak. Charged close to $5000 without repairing the leakWater company discovered leak on Feb. 25, 2016. [redacted] dug up line from street to the shut off valve near the house and replaced the entire line without first determining if the leak was there or from the valve TO the house. Paid $1400 and he didn't fix the leak. Began to look for leak in bathroom. Dug up concrete slab in 3 areas, cut large squares of sheetrock in each wall looking for pipes instead of looking in attic to see where pipes come down the walls. Removed vanity to get to pipes. Broke marble countertop in process. When asked if licensed, bonded and insured, he would not directly answer. Did not offer to help replace marble. At this point we had 2 other professional opinions look at the situation and state that he should have determined WHERE the leak was first then with discovery that leak was under slab somewhere to consider that re-plumbing the whole house would have been cheaper in the long run than destroying the bathroom. He also used large utility staples across 2 walls and down one wall to hang plastic while jack hammering thus requiring complete paint job on walls. We had a custom faux finish on walls previously. At this point we have to repair walls, floor, countertop/fixture and STILL fix the leak. Throughout this saga we were without water for 3 weeks. As a homebound quadriplegic, I couldn't leave and stay in a hotel. My wife had to haul jugs of water for drinking and cooking and buckets of water from the neighbors to flush the toilets. She also had to shower elsewhere and go to the laundromat. We were done with Myers. Hired different plumber to re-plumb the house on March 17. This was $1100. We then began the process of remodeling the entire bathroom that had previously been in beautiful condition. This expense was $5400. This entire ordeal cost us $7900 and LC Myers is still charging us an additional $3300! We also discovered that LC is NOT licensed to work in Webb City or Joplin. He should not have been working in our home at all. Under the circumstances we do not feel we owe LC Myers Plumbing anything other than the $1400 we have already paid.Desired SettlementConsidering the incompetent methods of this job we do not feel we owe anything of the second invoice for over $3100.His incompetence cost us $7900.00!! We have no intention of pursuing this matter any further.
