LD Construction did my bathroom remodel. I love it. They were always on time. They have very polite workers. I would have them back to do any other project in my home. I have recommended the business to several family members and friends.

We hired LD Construction (Lloyd D[redacted]) to completely gut and remodel our kitchen. He stole thousands of dollars from us. We are currently suing him in small claims court. We gave him $26,000 (out of a $33,000 contracted project). He told us the money was being used, in part, to order cabinets, counters and backsplash. None of those items were ever purchased. His crew did do a great job on our floor, electric, insulation, drywall and paint. But the big ticket items were not purchased by Lloyd, and the crew has not been to our house now since late March. We know of at least four other people who have similar experiences with LD Construction. Please avoid doing business with this man. Thank you and good luck!

Review: Hello,

First off I am a property manager of the apartment building where this all accrued. Back in mid October of 2015 I signed a contract with Loyd (Owner/Operator of LD Construction) to have a new roof put on my building at [redacted]. The first issue I have is that the work never began till the end of June 2016 after numerous attempts to contact Loyd and getting various responses first of witch, began in March when asked if we where first on the list to begin work once the snow cleared and the weather got better, was "Yes". after waiting almost another month excuses like oh we have one more small job to finish up and we'll begin next week. This lasted for at least 2 months. Finally when they did start, almost 7 months after signing the original contract, the men doing the work where very nice and professional doing an exceptional job on actual installation of our new roof.

When they started it was June 27th 2016 and by July 11th 2016 they where almost done. That is when Loyd showed up on site asking for the final check. This is where everything goes down hill. Knowing that I work 2nd. shift he assured me that they would be done with everything that day. Trusting that Loyd would keep to his word I said "ok" and gave him the check. Since then he has been dodging my calls and there is still old roofing materials laying around my property, a full dumpster that needs to be swapped out so everything else can be cleaned up, and gutters that need to be properly rehung. I have made numerous attempts to contact Loyd to express my dissatisfaction calling once or twice a day and leaving messages for the past week with no response. Further more I have contacted the company who Loyd contracted out the dumpster service and they keep telling me that they have not been told that the dumpster is full and needs picked up. When I told them it needs picked up they told me that they haven't been payed yet so they will not be picking it up until then. This is severely disturbing considering we have already payed Loyd over $17,000 and he doesn't have the money to pay the dumpster people to pick up the dumpster.

Thank You for your time,

[redacted] Property Manager

[redacted]Desired Settlement: All I am looking for is that the job we payed for to be completed in a timely manner to our satisfaction and that maybe a request for them to change their web site considering on the website www.ldconstruction.org they claim they will show up on time and complete jobs they start.

Review: LD construction was supposed to do a bathroom remodel for me in the winter of 2015. I gave him a deposit of 4,400 dollars. LD construction then kept delaying the project until he offered to refund the money on May 24, 2016. I accepted. He told us he had to return the products he bought with the deposit first, then will give me the deposit back, It has been around 4 months later, he has only returned 3,000 dollars. I called him Aug 6th 2016 and asked him what the delay is with the rest of the refund, and he gave me excuses about his car breaking down and someones check bounced. I then asked him if he used my deposit money for his own personal reasons and he said yes. He said he would have my money by Aug 10th. Then that became Aug 11th. Now he is not returning my call. I feel like he lied about buying the supplies for the remodel, and he just wanted quick money and never had any intention of starting my remodel.Desired Settlement: Return the rest of my deposit of 1,400 dollars

Review: Home construction. 3 part project. Upstairs project completed approx. 1 week of work. Basement still has a couple issues to complete; approx. 1 month of work. The 3rd project was to add a 14 x 16 room. This room was to enlarge my kitchen and add a sunroom. I signed my contract in April 2015. For various reasons; weather, etc. they didn't start the project until mid July 2015. The ground was dug July 31st. I finally received the first drafts of the kitchen layout on 09/03/15. After tweaking the plans and a couple agreed changes the layout was set. On October 20th I met with Mr. Davis at my home and it was agreed he would complete by 11/10/15 as I had 16 people coming for Thanksgiving. Obviously that day has come and gone. That was the last date I saw him. I was unable to have family or guests for any holiday since. I made numerous phone calls to him which he did not answer or respond to messages left. His workers would come periodically. In December I contacted a lawyer. He sent him a letter on 12/03/15 to get things completed. Between 09/03 and 12/03 I counted 39 no call, no show, no work days; that does not include Saturdays or Sundays. Many days they would show up would only be for 2 or 4 hours. I never knew when to expect them or how long they would stay. I was leaving my home unlocked for them and no one was here, Obviously it became a security issue also. The wall came down between the new room and existing kitchen 10/20/15. I have been without a kitchen sink and usable kitchen since then. I have had to live surrounded by boxes of kitchen items everywhere since August. There is still much to be completed inside and out. They last worked 12/03. My contract was for $58,000 and I have paid $48,000. The extras were not quoted separately. I now have released him and have to find someone else to complete the project with materials with only this amount left. At this time I unable to email documents. I will mail backup to [redacted].Desired Settlement: I am told my cabinets and hardware are in at [redacted] in Erie since September. I am further told that he paid for them back then. Since I already have paid, I would like them released to me at no further cost. Also I chose a sink and countertop and 2 doors which were to be included in my contract.

I would like these items paid for by him and released to me at no further cost. As I mentioned I now need to locate and pay a new contractor to complete the project.

LD Construction worked on a mud room and deck on the back of my house. I found them to be unreliable. The time to complete the job was about doubled for the time quoted. They frequently didn't show up. Since I work from home this was somewhat of a hardship as I had to pack up all of my required work media and go elsewhere. Then I would come home to find they were never there. When the job was finally done, it was not compliant. There are five steps with no rail. We tried repeatedly to get them to come back to finish the job To no avail. Eventually they would not return any calls. We had to put up a makeshift made of a different material, and doesn't even match the other rail.

Review: I met with Lloyd D[redacted] / LD Construction on 6/15/15 to sign a contract for a remodeling project. The work, which I made clear to Lloyd, needed to be done because my 83 year old mother had moved in with me. She had broken her hip and required a handicapped bathroom and a bedroom set up for her needs as well as a deck with ramps so that she could live here with me instead of an assisted living center. Lloyd assured me he understood her needs and would get the job done as soon as possible. His estimate for completion was September 2015 and his proposal was for $49,000. I signed the contract on 6/15/15 and gave him the down payment of $10,000 he demanded. Three weeks later he brought me a rough drawing and said he needed another $13,000 because he had to pay for the drawing and the permit and start ordering building materials. I gave him a check for the $13,000 on 7/8/15. He didn't get the building permit until 8/5/15. Then nothing happened until he sent 2 of his crew to the house the first week in August to tear my deck off. Then nothing again until 10/7/15 when he said a concrete contractor would be coming to do the foundation. On 10/23/15 I texted him asking what was taking so long - I had a big hole in the ground that was filling with water and no blocks. On 11/30/15 I had picked out the vinyl and shingles and gave him the order numbers. Every time I called to find out what was going on and why the crew wasn't working on my house I got excuses and promises that they would be there the following week. Lloyd just kept telling me not to worry and they would get it done. By mid December 2015 the only thing he had completed was putting new shingles on the roof. The addition was framed in but had no insulation or drywall, and the electric and plumbing were not done. There wasn't even any wrap on the outside. Nothing at all had been done to my mother's bedroom or bathroom. I met with him on 12/13/15 to let him know how unhappy we were with the job he had done so far. He promised to have the crew work every day until it was completed and that would be by the 2nd week in February 2016. I told him I wanted that in writing so he printed it on my original contract and initialed it. I also agrees to pay another $3,000 to have the whole house sided instead of just the addition so the vinyl would all match. Lloyd said the deck in his original bid was smaller than I thought it was going to be so I agreed to another $3,000 to increase the size so my mother could get outside with her walker. He also asked for another $750 to fix the gable ends and I agreed to that. In December they put insulation in the walls and put drywall up and roughed in the electric and plumbing and some of the siding was put on but since they only worked 1 or 2 days a week not much else was done. I met with Lloyd again in January and he said he needed another draw of $12,000 or he wouldn't be able to do anything else. Since he already had $23,000 from us I felt that I had no recourse but to keep trying to negotiate with him to get him to do the job he had signed a contract to do. When I asked for an accounting of the costs incurred to date he refused and said he couldn't find his receipts and he wouldn't consider a refund. On 1/14/16 I gave him another check for $12,000. He told me to go to his supplier [redacted] and pick out a vanity and top. I went there on 1/15/16 and chose the vanity and top and gave my selections to [redacted]. (Please see the attached documentation regarding this vanity that they are saying may not have been ordered which I don't believe). After that no one showed up to work or called me. I called Lloyd on 1/21/16 and had to leave a message asking why he hadn't sent anyone over to work since he got his check. He called me back on 1/22/16 and yelled at me telling me he didn't care whether I believed or trusted him and then he hung up on me. He has not returned any of my calls since then. The crew never seemed to know what's going on with the work and says that Lloyd tells them on a daily basis where to go and what to do. On 2/6/16 I had an unusable, unheated shell without windows, floors, electric, or plumbing. My mother's bedroom and handicapped bathroom still had not been touched. At that point I wrote a letter to Lloyd (attached) and sent it certified letting him know that he had breached our contract and I had secured the services of another contractor to complete the job he failed miserably to do.Desired Settlement: I would like a cost accounting including receipts of the $35,000 that was paid in 3 installments to LD Construction and a refund of the money paid for services that are not satisfactory and the products that were not delivered. This includes the custom vanity and top that I chose at MDS that they assured me Lloyd D[redacted] had ordered and paid for with the check I gave him on 1/14/16.
