Mrs [redacted] came in requesting an oil change. during the oil change we noticed the air filter was dirty  and oil was low prior to service.  She allowed us to install air filter and stated that she new the vehicle was way over due for oil change.  While installing air filter...

we noticed that the air intake tube was saturated in oil. We told he this could be why she was low on oil and there was an issue that needed to be addressed because oil shouldnt be there. She said she'd look into that at a later date.  We finished the oil change without issue and pulled vehicle out. After she paid and returned to vehicle it would not start.  We pushed the vehicle back in and customer oked us to diagnose issue. we pulled valve cover and found timing chain to be loose. we informed customer the tensioner had lost hydrolic pressuer. We explained to her it could have been due to the oil change being so over due. and now that we installed new oil it could of knocked sludge loose and cloged up the oil ports in the tensioner. She aggred to allow us to replace tensioner. We informed he we would cover half the cost. After we installed tensionerand realigned timing chain car still wouldnt   we found car had no compression. We informed the customer that this vehicle has  what they call an interferance engine and if the timing chain loosens or becomes out of time the lower half of the engine is allowed to travle to far and makes contacts with the top half of the engine creates internal damage.  There is two was to repair the damage  1 rebuild top half of engine 2 replace engine With the miles and age of car just rebuilding the top half of the engine would not be in the best interest of the customer  the weak lower end of the engine could soon have issues due to the new and old engine parts Mrs [redacted] declined the repair and wanted to take her car for a second opinion We didnt charge Mrs [redacted] for the timing chain tesioner  nor any of the diagnostic labor. We do not beleive any of this was do to neglagence or issues on our part Thank you Meineke Management

The kia optima was done in may 2 of 2015  it had 70175 miles on it we recommended returning at 73175 for another oil change or 3 months which ever comes 1st.  when returning august 28th 2015 knocking it had nearly 81000 miles on the odometer or about 7800 miles over what we recommend for...

oil change .   She also stated she doesn't check her oil on a regular basis only when the oil light came on when the oil pump didn't have enough oil to make pressure did she add oil.   Therefore it wasn't our fault that the car needs repaired at this time.     Thanks Brad L[redacted] manager Meineke  8410 e Washington

At Meineke we strive to meet our customers’ vehicle needs by providing each customer a vehicle courtesy inspection. As Ms. [redacted] stated, she had come in to take advantage our oil change prices. On the standard vehicle inspection form we complete with each oil change we provide a twenty-seven (27)...

point inspection. This inspection covers many things from lights to exhaust and undercarriage. It assists our customers with proper maintenance needs and to avoid future costly repairs. Customers are given the opportunity to discuss other issues/concerns in regards to any problems they might be experiencing with their vehicle. Ms. [redacted] stated she had been hearing a noise from the front of her vehicle and would like for a technician to take a closer look. Upon inspection, she was advised she needed wheel bearings, front struts, tie-rods, and an alignment. This was the diagnosis given after listening to Ms. [redacted]’s concerns and inspecting her car. According to our paper work, Ms. [redacted] declined part of the recommend repairs. Ms. [redacted] only wanted part of the problems resolved at the time due to cost. Problems of this nature could cause additional damage if left unrepaired. Ms. [redacted] stated she had a Meineke Credit Card to assist her with the repairs. Ms. [redacted] left the vehicle and approved over half of the repairs with the assistant manager to be completed. We took her Meineke Credit Card payment over the phone because she said she was out of town and needed to pick up her vehicle after store hours. All of this transpired on the manager’s normal day off. Two days after receiving payment by phone, we received a call from a different Meineke location that the owner of the credit card was in their office to dispute the charges on the card. He never authorized Ms. [redacted] to use what turned out to be his credit card. Ms. [redacted] was contacted and informed that she would need to supply us with a different form of payment before she could pick-up the car. She stated she was still on vacation, and would get back with us. A week later she did provide a different form of payment from someone else who personally verified they would accept the charges for this repair. The vehicle then was picked up after hours. Two weeks later Ms. [redacted] returned and stated a new problem was apparent as the front end of her car was vibrating, smoking, and hot. Ms. [redacted] and the assistant manager drove the car to try to duplicate the problem. An inspection revealed a brake caliper was not releasing, causing the brake to overheat and smoke. She was given the repair quote and she declined the repairs. This was a new problem with the car and had nothing to do with our previous repairs. A week or more later she returned, with another female showing pictures she had taken at a different shop. She stated the pictures showed substandard repairs. The other female became very belligerent while other customers waited in the lobby. I explained to her the difference again in the repairs and sympathized with the cost. I explained the tech that completed the work was not in the office and I needed to go over the scenario with him. The next day she returned and apologized for her friend’s remarks and behavior in the lobby. Ms. [redacted] requested a 200.00 refund and I agreed on 150.00 because we had not printed a report from our alignment machine and therefore could not prove that the alignment had been done. We do assert that it was done, just not documented properly. Regarding the pictures of parts left in car, loose bolts, dead birds on engine. We just have no way to independently verify any of those things. The vast majority of our customers are honest people, but it would be easy for someone to loosen bolts or lay debris in a car and take pictures of it. We made all the repairs properly as far as we can tell and we certainly did not leave a dead bird on her vehicle. Her complaints when she returned to us a couple weeks after the repairs we made were caused by a brake issue that had nothing to do with our original work. There is very good reason in this case to be suspicious of any of these claims that we cannot verify. Ms. [redacted]’s stated goal is to have money returned to her for repairs we performed. Her behavior from the beginning when she paid for her repairs with an unauthorized credit card have been viewed with some suspicion by us. If her car had already been picked up when we were notified of the unauthorized use by the holder of the original Meineke Credit Card, we may never have been paid for this work. Her signature was required to complete the refund and is on file [redacted] 150.00 refund** She was provided a copy. We did not agree to a $450.00 refund. Sincerely, Damon R[redacted] Meineke Car Care Center
