Review: My husband and I hired Steve M[redacted], founder of Leaf Redevelopment, to reside our house and rebuild a retaining wall. Later we agreed that his company will handle the gutter and roof problems above the porch. We were told that the original scope of work is “a piece of cake.” He promised that four guys will be working 10 hour shifts Mondays through Thursdays. We were very clear that we needed the job to be finished by September 1st, 2015. Steve assured us that all installation will be done per Hardie Board instructions, that the house will be sealed from water entry and that the crew will touch up with paint where necessary. We signed the contract on June 14. The final amount for all work was $27,158. We paid Leaf Redevelopment $11,000 upon signing the contract and paid additional $9,000 upon the start of work. Steve chose to begin at the end of August.

In December the full scope of work was still not done. Today, the neighbor's side of the house is still without fascia/soffit and many seams between siding and trim either have poorly applied caulking or none at all; wood is still not wrapped with aluminum and currently exposed to winter weather. We also looked up Hardie installation instructions and found out vital differences in how our siding was being done, which resulted in unsightly aesthetics. We ended up spending days hiding the major mistakes.

At the end of December, Steve contacted us imploring that we pay him $5,000 in advance. He was poised to receive an important business loan and was lacking these funds as downpayment. He said he understood that his crew made mistakes and he was very sorry about the delay. We wanted a realistic new deadline. January 25th was the due date of his own choice. After the payment, his crew worked for two days. After Christmas, there was no sign of Steve M[redacted] or anyone from his crew at our house. Steve has not responded to phone calls or texts after repeated attempts to contact him.Desired Settlement: We would like for Steve to come back and finished what he promised to accomplish. When we gave him $5,000 we asked him to sign a contract that listed all the big and little things that his crew needed to accomplish. He was in agreement with all the mentioned points. As of now, we fixed all the major aesthetic problems with his crew's installation on the first two floors except poor caulking.
