We had a free estimate done. The salesman was knowledgeable about his product as well as competitive products. He was however about 1 hour late. We agreed to his proposal and set an appointment. We agreed to try their financing with a back up of a credit card should that not work out. They required both myself and my fiancee to be present at the start and finish of the work. We both took off from work as they said it would be a full days project. We were given a start time between 8-10am. We waited all morning and heard nothing from them. We decided to run some errands thinking at some point we would receive a phone call. Nothing! So at around 2:30 the same day, I called there office and the lady who answered had no clue what was going on and the manager was gone at that time. They said they would call back right away. Now its 4pm and no word. My fiancee calls and they say that the financing went fell thru and they don't know why nobody called us. Nice customer service! We had arranged for a credit card payment previously had the financing failed, but wanted the 0% interest offer. Not sure why they couldn't have went that route or at a minimum called so we didn't lose 16 total hours of work time. I will take my business else where because they offered little more than a sarcastic apology.

Review: I was told many times that I would never have to get on the roof again. Their guarantee says the gutters will never clog. But the Leaf Filter does clog. So what good is it? The problem is the debris from the trees stays on the leaf filter. It doesn't just blow off like they say. If it's wet, the leaves cover the leaf filter and now I have water running over the leaf filter and down the perimeter of the house. Now I'm up on the roof cleaning this leaf filter product, which is much harder than cleaning out my gutters. Plus, the very overweight salesman broke my kitchen chair.Desired Settlement: Removal of product with complete refund.

Review: [redacted] the contractor for leaf filter damage a window while placing leaf filter on my gutters. This happen 8 weeks ago. I have 2 estimates to replace the window and he says he won't pay it or claim it on his insurance. My window "j" channel was busted along with the screen. The two companies that have given me estimates said that the only way to fix it is to replace the window because the "j" channel is built in to my windows. [redacted] and [redacted] windows are the two companies I have estimates from, with [redacted] being the cheapest. Leaf Filter had a company Ser Roofing come to my home for an estimate that I have yet to hear from. [redacted] the man who broke the window said he will give me $400. My lowest estimate is $1352. That doesn't even cover half of if. I have made about 24 calls to the company about this complaint. My window is 10 years old and is a big window that is a double window. Also I can not get any information about the contractors insurance comapany he refusses to supply that. When I signed the contract with leaf filter it was put in writing all work and workers were insured.Desired Settlement: Replace my window back to the way it was before [redacted] broke it. I want it to match also. The "j" channel is built into the window and you can't just fix the "j" channel on its own. The longer we wait it may start to leak into and behind the siding.

I came across Leaf Filter at the Home Show sponsored by the Brown County Home Builders Association. Ever since I signed up for a quote I was borderline harrassed by the sales associates to agree to an appointment. After numerous calls I made an appoinment. I called the day of the appointment 2 hours earlier to cancel as my husband injured himself and was no longer able to be at our appointment. The woman from the home office took the cancellation and again badgered me to reschedule. I chose to just cancel for now. As my daughter and I left for an appointment at 5, the man in a truck still showed up for the appointment. As we were leaving, I told the man that I had cancelled the appointment and was on my way out. He then started saying angrily, "and you didn't call?" "I just drove 3 hours for nothing?" [redacted] He grabbed his things and started saying nasty things under his breath with a horrible attitude. He then got in his truck and skid his tires in our driveway and up the road as he sped off. This has been a horrible experience and hope they never contact me again. I hope no one ever has to experience what I went through.

Review: We had a representative of LeafFilter come to our house to look at what it would cost us to install their product on our home. The representative talked about doing many different things that we were not interested in. We sat down with him for several hours and told him many times that we were not interested in his product, but he refused to take no for an answer. He then proceeded to give us a multitude of discount options, which we continued to say "we are not interested". He refused to leave, even though we asked him to leave on several occasions. He finally reached what he called his final offer [after calling his boss]. Again we said we were not interested. He then said the only way I can guarantee this price if you decide later to take it, was for us to give him some money down which would be refundable if we still decided later to not accept his offer. We were desperate to get him out of our house as it was getting very late and we had not taken care of our animals for the evening. So we were dumb and gave him the money and signed a paper to get rid of him. We were having our house re-shingled due to hail and he agreed that it would be best to wait until that was finished. The roofers were delayed because of weather and other problems so it was quite a while until it was done. We then contacted them and again saying we did not want their product and that we wanted our money returned, at which time we were told that we were responsible for paying for all the materials which they had ordered right after the representative's visit with us. We were probably dumb to do what we did but we feel we were lied to and deceived in this situation because we did what we did to finally get him out of our house.Desired Settlement: We would like our money back and not to have to pay for the materials which they said they ordered right after we met with their representative.

Response:

We have contacted the customer and addressed their concerns.

While I cannot speak to Leaf Filters product, be careful of their sales tactics. They pressured my wife and I in to buying their product with the idea that we could cancel it within 3 days, offering all sorts of incentives if we signed up immediately. After reviewing their product and their pricing - significantly higher for the gutters we wished to install than other bids, we decided to cancel the next day.
Unfortunately, they immediately opened a line of credit and signed us up for a credit card even after the cancellation. This has hurt my family's credit unnecessarily and alarmed us towards identity theft.

Customer satisfaction is our priority. Please feel free to contact us at 800-749-4566, so we can ensure a 5-star experience.

Review: We used Leaf Filter after recommendation from a friend. The friend assumed he would get a $50 referral fee. Leaf Filter has not responded after many, many phone calls. We have been told each time we call, that the [redacted] will respond in 24 hours. No one has contacted us. They have installed a great product in our home. Their lack of response is puzzling.Desired Settlement: I would like the [redacted] to return our calls so we can understand why our friend is not getting the referral fee. Perhaps we are not understanding Leaf Filter's policy or procedures. When no one has contacted us, it is hard to know what is going on.

Business

Response:

There was a misunderstanding of the Leaffilter referral program by the customer. Leaffilter has contacted the customer and rectified the misunderstanding and issued the $50 referral fee.

Regards,

My husband and I saw Leaf Filter at a trade show. We has built a new home and were looking at installing gutters. This seemed like a good product so thought a free estimate would be a good place to start. After several insistent phone calls from the Leaf Filter to set up an appointment a time was set and the salesman came to our home. The appointment start out well, the salesman was knowledgeable about the product and fairly efficient. Once we sat down to discuss price the salesman became very high pressure. If we didn't make the deal with him that night the offer would be off the table. He kept pressuring us with you will never have to get on the roof again. He said he couldn't hold that incredible price even over night to get us a change to think about it. He told us that he had made a killing that week on several other deals and didn't really need our business, so that is why the quote he gave was such a good deal and also because he "liked" us. For what ever reason we decided to go ahead with the transaction and filled out the credit application and gave him a check for the down payment. We felt a little uncomfortable with the whole meeting. The salesman related several times he was a high dollar salesman and it made no difference to him whether or not he had our business. As the salesman left he commented on how we kept him much later that he wanted. The whole experience left us uncomfortable. We were told we had three days to call off the whole deal if we choose to. The very next day we called the salesman and cancelled the deal. We wanted more time to think on it and maybe do a little more shopping around. The salesman got very angry with my husband that we were cancelling and how he wasted all that time with us to getting nothing for it. My husband had attempted to apologize for the time spent and explain that we need a little time to think about the cost but to no avail the salesman in the end told my husband that this whole thing [redacted] him off and to "[redacted]" and hung up with him. We were dumbstruck. We expected disappointment but not this. It was completely uncalled for. We then called the main head quarters of Leaf Filter and filled a complaint. The operations manager in WI called and we told him the situation and he apologized for it and was completely dumbfounded by the salesman's reaction. We received a text message from the salesman later in the evening the day we filed a complaint. To paraphrase: He was sorry he blew. but he got home at 1am from our home and then did it all for free. No commission. He wasted his gas and was done for nothing in return. He felt his generosity and hard work was not appreciated and we felt he was a snake in the grass. Leaf Filter is the #1 company in the US and he is the single highest sales producer in the company. He spent extra time with us that he normally would for a GREAT! layout that was perfect. He liked us so he gave us a smoking hot deal and it backfired on him. He apologizes for swearing at my husband but he was angry that we cancelled because we had buyers anxiety.
However, in the end that did process the credit application anyway even after we cancelled and still cashed our check for the down payment. It took over two weeks to get a refund and we also had to call the finance company to cancel all the financing because the company didn't do it.
We appreciate being disappointment because of the cancelled order however, swearing at us and all of the high pressure sells was over the top.
We can't say whether this product is a good one or not as we have no actually experience with it. But the sales tactic used was offensive.
We have since had gutters installed at a 1/4 of the original quoted price of Leaf Filter.
Watch of the high pressure sales

Review: Had leaf filter gutter protection installed 5-15-14 guaranteed not to clog. Woke up to rain over flowing due to clogging. I called them to fix it or take it down. They said the would come out the next day at 2:10 came straight home from work they never showed up. I called and they said they would come the following day and look at it. They said they could in stall splash guards but that I would need to clean them because derby would accumulate around it. I told them I did not want the splash guards it would defeat the purpose of having the filter guard if I still had to have someone climb a ladder and clean them, to just fix the problem or take them down. When I came home from work splash guards were mounted on my gutters. So now I will have to clean my gutters and my gutters now look like they have fins. I called them to take the system down and they refused saying nothing was wrong. I said when they sold it to me they should have told me that their was a issue with the valleys on my roof and that I might need splash guards and I would still have clogging it wasn't the first time they were selling this product. He just kept on say there isn't a problem. I said I wouldn't have paid $2,700 for a system I will still have to pay someone to come out and clean. We ended the conversation not agreeing.Desired Settlement: Remove system and refund my money.
