Car sales tactics
Salesmen gave me the glossy pitch and showed 'others' poor products, all good. Nice guy, glib and engaging. Then the quote of $6,500+ on existing gutters! When I balked, the discounts (senior 10%, coupon 15%) rolled in.

"Still too high" resulted in another 25% since it was spring and before the busy season. I told him no, but would think about it and he started to leave, BUT he forgot to call his boss. After explaining my objection was purely price, a miracle occurred! A big commercial job was going on in the area and mine would be extended the volume pricing, if I installed in the next 4 days. (So the final offered price was 30% of the initial quote)

I told him to leave as I wouldn't do business with a company like that. I suspect the life time warranty would be a bear to get fixed.. I had GutterGlove Leaf Blaster Pro installed at 18% of the original Leaf Filter offer

Happy Customers
Nick the salesman was very professional. He quoted $8,523 for 568 feet of gutters with no tops as we do not have trees. Aaron and his Installer arrived on time and were very knowledgeable and professional. They explained what they were going to do and finished the job in a timely manner and cleaned up all materials when finished. Very pleased with the job they did. Cannot comment on how product works as it has not rained since installation. I will keep you posted.

Corrupt company
We had Leaf Filter gutter system installed in November 2019. The salesmen came and I only wanted an estimate after they measured but they kept insisting on signing us up that day and I finally caved. They made it sound that good even though I thought the $3999 price tag was excessive. The first week we had a minor rain and they seemed good but then we had a major storm about two weeks later and the rain was pouring through all the corners of the gutters and especially in the front part of the house. I called and a technician came out but not on the scheduled day. He said he had extra time so I showed him that it was right above the electric wires and he found that the 50-year sealant didn’t even last 50 days and he had to remove all of it and replace it. I told him all the gutter corners were bad and he checked by the steps at the front of the house and said that it was probably just dripping over the gutter. I also told him that the installer did not clean the inside and outside of the gutters as he was supposed to do and it was a cold day so he just wanted to get the job done. He later said that he actually had a problem with heights so he just tries to get the work completed and worked from the top of the roof. The next time was during the winter and I had to call them twice because the leaking at the front steps was causing the water to freeze and form ice on the steps. I also told them that the corners on the rest of the house were above the grassy areas and ice was forming where it dripped down and I had to watch if walking through the yard. They did not care about that. I also told him icicles were hanging through one of the corners in the back and I had a picture of it but he was not interested. The winter was worse since the snow piled up on the top of the filters, then we got sleet and freezing rain on several days (Pittsburgh weather) and it then kept dropping down all around the house and landing on the steps and walkways and then freezing which caused a hazard. The tech told me to take calcium chloride and throw it up onto the gutters and it would melt and cause it to go into the gutter. He must have thought I was a fool if I would do that. He left and I again had to complain about the continuing problem and the area manager in Cranberry Twp where I called laughed and told me I should never listen to salesmen because their only job is to make a sale and they will tell you anything. He told me that before long I would need to pay a charge for each time they come out and I asked him why I should pay extra when the job was not done right when it was installed and each time someone else came out. He actually seemed amused about this situation. I also continued each time I called and they came out to request copies of the work order showing the complaint and the service they did on that day but they refused to provide this and they actually have come out about 7 times in about a year. I waited due to the pandemic in March 2020 and the tech once again checked the dripping through the bottom of the gutter but said he found a “piece of pollen” on top of the filter screen and it was probably keeping the water from going through. I let him know I didn’t believe him and wanted him to look at the pictures I had but he was in a hurry. He had come unexpectedly and didn’t even know if I would be home. These problems continued all summer and fall so I called once again. I even saw a time when dripping was coming “over” the screening by the garage door. A tech came during the week before Christmas on a somewhat nicer day than usual. He took off the screens by the front porch and said the sealant wasn’t holding and was defective so he cleaned the area and replaced the sealant. He said there would be no charge if that didn’t work but normally they charge after a year. Well, if had leaked every time we got rain or snow and I’ve gotten tired of calling because they come whenever they want. They also removed and replace the splash guard on the roof four times. I never had a problem with that but now who knows. I had also found large wood screws and small sheet metal screws at various location around the house in 2020 so I’m not sure if they were old ones or new ones that they put in. The sheet metal screws were on the front steps. They were to make the gutters look like new by cleaning them up but that was never done and the entire job with the filters has made things worse. I’ve never seen such poor customer service and technicians who are unable to do the job. I feel they don’t even want to give me copies of work orders because they don’t want to show how many times they came out and didn’t do the job. I also found frozen dead leaves coming down through the only downspout that I have open access to check so either leaves are getting in or they never cleared them out of the gutters.

Scamm Company DO NOT BUY
I purchased Leaf Filter on 10/12/2020 I started having rodent issue in my attic in 2022.

I replaced my roof only to find out that Leaf Filter did not fully install all of my filters on my home that was purchased. I also found out that the improper install of the system left my wood behind my gutters exposed for 2 years making it the wood giving access to rodents. Purchasing this junk has cost me over $20,000 and I am still doing repairs from the damage the rodents have caused please save yourself the trouble and do not use this company once they get your money and have you owning a finance company they do not care.

Horrible Product, Incompetent Staff.
Much like the over 100 bad reviews my experience has been no better. Looking for a better gutter guard then the DYI products I've used in the past, I settled on LeafFilter. The salesman came out and did his pitch, and exactly like so many others had said, he gave me a quote that was greatly exaggerated, then after seeing my reaction, gave a new quote that was half the original estimate. He's just doing what he was trained to do, but its slimy. After settling on 5K, we scheduled the install. The installer came out. Just by chance a neighbor was unplugging a downspout when he pulled up. The installer told the neighbor that he could fix his problem and that he could do the install of the same product that I was getting for 1K. Mind you, I'm standing right there, and the neighbor's house is approximately the same size as mine.

My neighbor was looking out for another neighbor and asked if he could do his for the same amount. The installer agreed and so did the 2nd neighbor. WTF. I didn't report it, because my neighbors are friends, and the installer was just hustling upside money. Good for them. I'm the sucker.

The install went smoothly, and he took care of my neighbors homes the next weekend.
I never went onto the roof to inspect his work. I felt I didn't need to with their claimed lifetime no hassle warranty. During the first rainstorm I had to go up on the roof to see what was going on. I had rain shooting off of my valleys like hydro tubes at a water park. There was a section of LeafFilter that was missed and not installed at one of the dormers as well. I called LeafFilter and after a few weeks they finally sent an installer to add valley diverters that were not initially installed and installed the missing section of LeafFilter at the dormer.

The next rainstorm and it was the same. I let it go for some time. The LeafFilter does not self-clean like the salesman's demonstration showed. The Douglas fir needles will cover the whole length of the filter, and you have to get onto the roof to blow off said needles. Good luck getting LeafFilter to come and clean them as promised.

Wait a minute. I got these so that I won't have to get on the roof ever again. Another claim LeafFilter makes.

Finally, we had enough. We wanted our money back. After going back and forth with them for weeks, to months, they sent another installer to inspect how the installation. The installer, (which by the way are subcontracted by LeafFilterm and wants the job so he gets paid) convinced LeafFilter that the LeafFilter product was installed incorrectly so the reluctantly okayed him to remove all of the product and re-install it. There is literally no difference between how it was and how it is now, except the installer did away with the valley diverters. He said they were unnecessary and that they can cause rainwater to run back under the roof shingles potentially causing damage.
Here we go. We gave it another try. With regular rains, sheets of water are again coming off the valleys. The other night we had a monsoon type rainstorm. The LeafFilter is once again plugged with Douglas Fir needles and the valleys don't have diverters, so all the rainwater shed off of the roof and flowed down the sides of our home where it pooled into a foundation well until it reached the foundation vent and buckets of water made it into my deep crawl space where we have built a storage room. I had to remove buckets of water from under the floor in my crawl space.

At this point LeafFilter ghosting us. Due to the potential of our foundation being undermined and damaged, we must remove this product and go in another direction and seek a refund through legal action most likely.

Stay away from these guys. There are better products out there. You are going to get what you pay for though.

I would love to submit videos, but for some reason I'm unable to ): I've only got a couple of pictures.

Dodged a bullet
I've been looking for gutter tops for several years because we have maple trees in the neighborhood and get the "helicopter" seeds in the gutters. The sales rep took measurements and quoted a price way out of my range. When I said I couldn't afford that, he magically dropped the price to a more reasonable number. They came today to install, but told me my gutters are all damaged and need to be replaced. They quoted a price that was again out of my price range, so I cancelled the contract. I wish I'd done some research before I agreed, but it seems I'm lucky that they tried to upsell and I was able to back out.

I should have read the reviews more carefully
I could have paid for a monthly gutter cleaning for what I pay each month now 2 years into a 4 year loan. It does not work on my house where the roof angles meet. Water poring over and through my facia boards. A pile of leaves and sticks built up. I have already had them come out for the same problem. When calling the company I'm told I will have to pay a service fee to remove the debris. I can hire someone else cheaper than their service fee.

Worst decision I ever made
I bought them to eliminate cleaning and protect from fire risks (embers in gutters).

1. They're plastic-framed. They'll melt and capture embers.
2. The fine metal mesh catches dust and grit and plugs up the entire gutter, which then stops functioning.
3. They're flat, no slope, and water runoff cannot clean them "naturally".

Horrible decision, I could kick myself. I'm not normally that susceptible to "slick" sales tactics, but this guy was really good and he tricked me.

Does not work on houses with valleys!
Every advertisement you see for Leaf Filter tells how dangerous it is for elderly people to get on a ladder to clean their gutters. The Leaf Filter Gutter system probably works well on a house that has no valleys. My house has several valleys. The sales person never told me that it would be necessary to climb a ladder to clean the valley splashguards every few months. The cost to install the Leaf Filter system was significant but would have be worth it if I never had to climb a ladder to clean the valley splash guards. Read the contract (section D), here is where Leaf Filter takes advantage. They do not guarantee that you won't have to climb a ladder to clean them. The Leaf Filter system may work well for a house with no valleys. It does NOT work well on a house with ANY valleys and pine trees in the vicinity. Even shingle grit will plug the fine mesh screen at every splash guard and cause water to overrun the splash guard and right into you flower beds. Be sure to ask your sales person about valley plugging. They will clean them for the first year. After that Leaf Filter will charge $90.00 to clean them.

Glad we did our research ... $26,000 price estimate! LOL
Summary: our high pressure salesman initially gave us an estimate of $26,000! We got a new metal roof for that much money! Before he left, the price was down to $3,500. It was still out of line, (a previous estimate from another company was $1,200) so out of curiosity, we did some research and now I'm happy we did. I hope others will pay attention to this apparent scam. Can you believe that we could go from an estimate of $1,200 from one company to $26,000 from LeafFilter? OMG.

By keeping gutters clog-free, you prevent costly home damages. LeafFilter is also backed by a lifetime, transferable warranty and is the nation’s largest gutter protection company. For these reasons, we hope that you see gutter protection as a valuable investment on your home. Sold me on filter and did not deliver
They showed up while I was at work, though scheduled for that afternoon. Then they could do the work because they had no power. Then what I was told would be done was only done halfway. I had called about the filters and they installed only the gutters - stated I didn't ask about the filters...but that's why I called! Now I overpaid for gutters and no filters. I told the on-site crew but they never told the local office. I called and got the runaround. The whole experience was a nightmare.

Did a terrible job 😡
Leaf Filter left their filter trash all over my yard. There was a chunk of the filter dropped into plants. One section of the gutter was lower than the rest so water stayed in that section and then the gutter fell away from the house. They left some gaps in their filter system and some areas were away from the house and roof. I called them ten times and each time I called them I got a message that they would call me back right away. They never did.

LeafFilter is terrible
We paid close 5,000.00 for the filter system, we've had problems since with our roof. This company has been out 3 times and basically shake their heads. But the company won't do anything. My daughter got on the roof and her comment was,"looks like a blind man put this system on. There are spaces better the screens and the corners dont's meet like they should. We live close to pine trees and pine needles gets caught on the roof and has rotten it. Now we have to get a new roof and that is costing us 10,000.00. What got my attention, water is getting into the over hang light cover. You know water and electicity don't like each other.

A total waste of money
Paid over $9,000 for the "top of the line" gutter filters from Leaf Filter. Within 2 months, leaves were collecting all over the tops of the filters AND sticking between the filters and gutters. I called Leaf Filter to ask what they were going to do about it. They sent out a guy with a little bitty blower who got up and blew off what he could get to. When asked how that was going to resolve a potential long term problem, his response was "well, that's where (Leaf Filter sales) they get you". In other words, it doesn't. So I called to speak with a manager of the office where we purchased the Leaf Filters and was told he would call back. HE NEVER DID. I then proceeded to continue calling to no avail, I sent emails to no avail and eventually contacted BBB, Consumer Protection AND my state Attorney General's office. I wanted Leaf Filter to come remove their "filters" and reimburse me. Nothing ever came of anything until yesterday when I took photos of my 74 year old husband up on a ladder removing leaves from the leaf filter and began posting those photos on every website that I could think of. I also found out that there has been a class action lawsuit filed against Leaf Filter. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options for previous purchasers. $200 is the best you can get and that is only for reimbursement if you've hired someone to remove leaves or for three future incidences if you hire someone to do so. I don't know of anyone who will come out three times for $200, climb a ladder and clean gutters. So basically, if you purchased Leaf Filters, you are pretty much screwed on EVER seeing any resolution for money back or anything else but hopefully enough bad reviews and this suit will shut them down.

Management is Non-Existent
I had Leaf Filter installed and had a number of complaints. Found out they DO NOT have a service Department -- only installers. Their advertisements are not complied with.
1. PUT YOUR LADDERS AWAY. What a joke! In order to reach one section that WAS Clogging with leaves you had to walk on the roof. How do you get there?
2. WE WILL LEVEL AND ADJUST YOUR PRESENT GUTTERS. Another example of FALSE ADVERTISEMENTS. In order to have gutters flow to the downspout they installed a second downspout that was NOT code compliant. I had to pay for another contractor to correct the situation. WHY? Because they would not admit to the problem.
3. NEVER HAVE TO CLEAN LEAVES FROM YOUR GUTTERS. Another false advertisement. The low area on my gutter collected water and leaves on the leaf filter which "rotted out" a section of my roof. Cost $1300 to repair. You cannot talk to anyone from Corporate or Local. All they will do send out a Serviceman who admitted the installation was bad.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM LEAF FILTER!

Run...Run away as fast as you can!!
The whole job was installed incorrectly. Now that I've said that let me add that LeafFiler sent their inspector to check out my complaint. When he was leaving he said he agreed saying "I couldn't find much done correctly either, the whole job needs to be redone". That was 3 months ago and over 7 missed appointments to get the job done. Some of those without even a phone call to notify me. Here is a list of some of the issues and I will attach some pics so you can see for yourself:
Pitch is wrong
Drop is wrong
Gutters are bent
Screens are twisted and bent
Screens installed at an angle outside of the gutters
Downspout installed without elbows
White zip hinges installed on brown gutters
(installer told be where I COULD BUY PAINT to make them match)
Downspout pieced together with two short pieces
There is more but you get the idea my nightmare started in 06/22; its now the end of 09/22. RUN AWAY... Save yourself!

Total rip off
Fast talking salesman, cheezie installers, and WAY OVERPRICED. I'm disabled on a small income, and they knew it but stuck it to me good. RUN away from them.

Now its rained and the water rolls over these micro filters like a ball. I feel sick about this. They are done guessing how to fix .

Complaint - Excuses vs Service
Inquired about getting product installed - met with salesman and obtained a quote and set install date. I took day off from work for which I do not get paid to accommodate their time window. Got a call day of install advising they had a mechanical issue with their cutter and had to reschedule. We rescheduled, I took another day off only to get a call the day of the install to advise the installer had mechanical trouble with his truck and could not make it. Being moved to afternoon as there was another installer in my area. Frustrating but ok. Got a call a few hours later saying sorry, installer is stuck on the project and will not be able to make it to me today that I would need to reschedule. So unprofessional and unacceptable. I cancelled the order.

Very Poor Customer Service
I've had my LeafFilter about three years. Last winter I started having water from my rain gutter, drip on my deck, then freeze and create a slick spot in front of the door. This summer, during a rain storm I notice water running over the edge of the gutter on the end with the down spout.
I called customer service an asked them to come and check it out. They set up a time for a service tech to come and he never showed for the appointment. I call once a week for several weeks and finally one Saturday a tech showed up out of the clear blue. He did a great job taking pictures and checking thing out and said the system was installed improperly and needed to be redone at no cost to me.
Another tech texted me a week later and we setup an appointment for him to come. He never came. I sent him a text asking when he would reschedule. He was very apologetic and said LeafFilter sent him a different direction. He had made the appointment not LeafFilter. I believe because mine was a warranty job there was no money in it for LeafFilter and so they sent him elsewhere. I haven't heard from LeafFilter or a tech since and don't know if the warranty work will ever be done. I am very disappointed with the Very Poor Customer Service from LeafFilter.

+7

I have to modify my above review. Since it wrote it, the techs from LeafFilter showed up and recleaned the gutters, reinstalled the filter properly and calked the areas that hadn't been done before. They did a great job! I would change my above rating to at least a 3.5 or 4 star if this site would let me.
