Leaps N' Bounce Reviews (2)

Hello,My party was November 13th from 11:00-1:00. When I booked the party, I said her birthday was November 6th. He told me that the 13th was available. He never once said that this would be a private party or what a private party was, or that there was a difference between a private party and a regular party, or that there was an additional fee for a private party. I never asked for a private party and I didn't even know it was a private party at the time of booking. The website says nothing about the difference between a private party and a regular party or that there is an additional fee, therefore I thought I was just booking a birthday party. The owner even went as far as saying to me that they don't advertise private parties as to not confuse people. That is exactly what he did to me. He added a charge I wasn't made aware of previously and presented it at a time in which I had no other choice but to pay it. He speaks of a brochure but there were no brochures at the desk when I booked in July and no paperwork was given to me. I fully understand that he can charge whatever he wants for a party...I am not saying that he can't charge extra for a private party but I have a serious problem with charges being added after the fact without my knowledge. He said it was clearly stated in the contract that I signed but he was unable to produce the contract because it did not exist. The then told me that he e-mailed me a copy of this contract, which he did not. After telling me those two things, he told me that it was told to me verbally. This fee is listed nowhere and I was completely surprised when my bill was handed to me at 12:45 and it was $100 more than anticipated.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in...

reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]When I booked this party, I looked at the website and then went into the business to book it. I was told that the price was $144 plus an additional $10.50 per child. They took my name down and a $50 deposit and I didn't hear from them until a week before the party. We had the party and I got a bill after for an additional $100 for a private party fee. I was told that they state the fee in the contract. I asked him for a copy of the contract that I never signed and he could not provide it to me. They then told me that it was emailed to me. I looked through my messages and could not find it and told him that if he emailed me a contract he should be able to access it. He was unable to do so. I had to pay the bill because I had all the parents from my daughter's kindergarten class there and did not want to be embarrassed. I went home and looked at the website again to see where the additional fee was listed and it wasn't anywhere on their entire site. He sent me a message and told me that it was stated verbally, which it was not. He then told me that they don't advertise the fee as not to confuse their customers. This is exactly what he is doing. When you are told about an additional $100 an hour and 45 minutes into a 2 hour party, there isn't much you can do. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and they told me that despite what he did was wrong, it was my fault for signing the slip and that because I paid, they were unable to help me. He is now harassing me through social media stating that the Revdex.com ruled in his favor. His argument is that they charge extra for private parties. Because it is his business, he can charge $1000 for a private party if he wants and that is not my complaint. My issue is that if you're going to charge an extra fee that is different from what you have on your website, you have to make the consumer aware. I was never offered this brochure he tells me that he has available. I had my mother with me when we booked the party and never once where we told about this private party fee. We didn't even know it was a private party. Maybe he does all the time but in my case he did not and it was $100 shock that I found out about too late.
Regards,
