Learning Exchange, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: On October 20,2015, I attended a class course titled 25 Home Based Businesses for Under $1,000 at the Learning Exchange. The class was a total fraud and misrepresentation. I paid $49.00 plus a $10.00 registration fee, for a total of $59.00. I was also charged additional $5.00 fee by [redacted] in the class. The class was scheduled for 6pm-9pm. The class did not start until 6:20pm, because the instructor [redacted] was waiting for more people to sign up and refused to start the class at the stated time. Also the class ended at 8:25pm. I was only given several pages of papers with internet sites, and was told to google these sites. During the class [redacted] kept referring to several other classes he was conducting at the Learning Exchange and suggested that the attendees should attend those classes to get all the information about how to start and succeed in home base business. This was a total scam. Total amount of the three courses is more than $1000.00, which is the true cost, which was not disclosed to the attendees during the initial course upon signed-up. On October 21, 2015, I returned to the Learning Exchange and requested a refund. A white male employee who stated his name was [redacted], first stated he would refund my total class fees of $59.00. He later stated that I could attend a different class. Later he stated since I was the only one complaining, he would not refund my money because it was only me. I took this as racial discrimination, because I was a minority. I could not receive a refund, this is unfair and discriminatory, and also illegal.Desired Settlement: I want a full Refund of $59.00 plus the $5.00 the instructor charged.

Response:

After talking with all the other attendees (20 people), we found that everyone loved this class. In fact, he teaches these classes here twice a year because of the demand for them. All the students said the class started at 5 minutes after (my fault because I needed to run more handouts for the instructor) and ended early but with the usual proviso that anyone who wanted private consulting (free) could remain and speak with him personally. This student has a repeated history of taking a course, not liking it, and then demanding a refund. We have done this gone through this before with him. Our policy is, if one person complains about a class, we do a survey of all the other attendees. If anyone else had a complaint, then we will issue a voucher for the class. No one else had any problem and were very happy with the class. The previous owner evidently had similar problems with him as there was a warning put on his record for the same problem. As to discrimination, I suggest you contact all our other clients including African American, Caucasian, Asian, South American, etc. and you will see that we have never been accused of discrimination. Even suggesting such a thing is an insult to Learning Exchange and defamatory.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: enough with the chidless elementary school antics of he said she said, without a written statement it just here say. [redacted] M, C.P., V.M.,J.W. all have written complaints on Yelp website about how the Learning Exchange and how it has tricked them as well. The students at Hill college did not know they were taken advantaged of until the Federal Government and State of California step in to shut the school down. 1) The Learning Exchange admit the class started late, it was 6:20pm not 6:05pm. 2) Fact the class ended at 8:25pm. The brochure and the registration form stated 6- 9pm the the school admits it had inequate material for the class. 3) Also I was not told about the $5 additional charged by the instructor which should have been disclosed upon registration process. I contacted the Sacramento licensing Dept. in hope they will open investigation into the learning Exchange unfair Business Practice. California has Consumer Rights Laws and the Learning Exchange can not continue to violate those Laws. I want my money refunded in full. Then we go our separate ways.
